We had a beautiful Boy Baby Shower yesterday for our daughter -in-law, Abbye, at The River Room at Elements at Water Street in Naperville. We had a brunch buffet followed by a sweet table of Chocolate Dipped French Macarons, Chocolate Mousse Tarts and Lemon Bars. We had plenty refreshments with waitress served OJ/Champagne Mimosas. Had my daughter's wedding there and they failed on so many levels. Food was awful, It was overcooked, under seasoned and soggy. Wait staff was running in and out like their life depended on it but unavailable to address the needs of the table, could not even get water refills which should be the bare minimum much less obtain a soda or cream for the coffee. Wine service was non-existent - a single pour and the bar staff disappeared yet I paid a pretty penny to have consistent wine service for dinner. The staff decided to take down table arrangements and all other decorations a solid hour and a half before the end of the event. They literally reached over guests conversing at tables to remove the center pieces. I could keep adding things which occurred but I think you get the overall incompetence and unprofessionalism of the evening When I spoke to management about my disappointment I was informed me that nothing they had done impacted my guests enjoyment and they did not understand why I felt they had not delivered what had been promise/presented at the tasting. They even tried to gaslight me that certain events had not occurred despite the fact that I had been there and witnessed them happening. read more

Went to a wedding here in July. Very under-impressed by the service of this venue. Staff is rude and unfriendly. I thought the food would be great since this place is owned by a chef, but the steak was obviously just mass cooked in a pan and not even seared. At one point, a glass was dropped on the dance floor by staff and they didn't even clean up the glass! They just put a wet floor sign down and left it there for 30 minutes. Wine service was nonexistent, though I know the couple paid for it. The bride was stressed out because the event planner was nowhere to be found. They started packing up table decor at 9:30pm and the wedding wasn't even over! You can't redo your wedding so PLEASE think twice before choosing this place. They have a lot of good reviews, but obviously a great wedding can't be guaranteed here. read more

We had an absolutely incredible wedding at Elements yesterday! WOW! I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the venue. Everything was perfect. Everyone went above and beyond to make our day special and prevent us from stressing about a single thing. When we arrived, I needed some dirt stains taken out of my dress before joining cocktail hour. Molly wasted no time getting us a drink and a tray of delicious hors d'oeuvres while she used club soda and a rag to get the stains out as best she could (and it really worked!). The coordinators communicated flawlessly with our vendors to make sure everything went according to plan. Our guests had a wonderful evening as well. We received compliments on the food and bar service and the beautiful venue. I planned my wedding myself without hiring a coordinator and I have no regrets. The venue coordinator, Molly, helped me with so much throughout the process. She was so organized, always responded to my endless emails quickly, and she paid attention to every detail. I cannot thank her enough for helping my dream wedding a reality! She was even able to bring in one of our favorite local beers from Solemn Oath which was very special for us! read more

We had my sister's bridal shower here today and it was lovely! We did this in the morning for a brunch and the food was so delicious I didn't even pause to take any pictures. The whole venue had a very clean and classy vibe, and a lot of the guests loved that there were so many ice cream places within walking distance to grab a little treat on their way back to their cars after. read more

This is a very beautiful venue. We first experienced it when my parents had their 40th anniversary party here and the staff did a wonderful job. We then just returned to try their Mother's Day brunch and we really enjoyed it. Each staff member that we interacted couldn't have been nicer. It was decorated beautifully, maybe just a little dark. A little more light would have been nice. There was a very large selection of food and I liked most of it. And they were nice enough to treat each mother with a treat to take home. We went here for our family's Mother's Day brunch tradition this year. My sister and I have been doing Mother's Day brunch for years at Dury Lane with our families, our mom and our step mom. We lost our mom last year and just had no interest in going to Dury Lane so the hunt began for somewhere new. I happened to be listening to the radio and hear that Elements was doing a Mother's Day brunch and after looking into it my sister and I decided to book a table here, and we could not have been happier! First it is a very nice looking restaurant. Lots of window and natural light. The tables were nicely spaced, they had a good number of tables but you were not crammed table top of table or had people bumping into your chair as they walked by. I am legally blind and I can not tell you how difficult it is to get around tables at most brunches because of how cramped everything is, this place did it right I was not only able to get around on my own but completely comfortable doing so! The staff was all amazing! Each staff member you came across while entering and while you left wished us a happy Mother's Day, when we asked a staff member for directions to the bathroom those also included a happy Mother's Day. Everyone was helpful and friendly and very, very patient with young kids, we had a 3 year old that it took a minute for her to decide what kind of milk she wanted. The food itself was set up in a separate room that again was beautiful and while there was a wait for food it moved fairly quickly and the food was all amazing. We had three kids with us and all three loved the kids table food. The 3 year old even made her very picky dad eat some of her chicken and a waffle fry. He said they were the best fries he has had in a while and really liked the chicken too. The carving station had good choices we tried the roast and the slab bacon, both were very good. They offered your standard eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles and it was all very good fair and above what you sometimes get at a brunch. The eggs benedict was AMAZING and most of the time there was a short wait while it was being refilled but it was completely worth waiting for it. Eveything was either good or very good but there were two dishes that were so above and beyond good and completely caught us by surprise one was simple carrots and green beans, these were simple but cooked perfectly and just amazing the other was a chicken and mushroom with gnocchi, this was a complete surprise and everyone had a second serving of it. It was rich and very flavorful and just made you happy while you ate it. The most fun part was definitely the desserts. Every thing was amazing from the Dirt jars with eatable flowers to the AMAZING tiramisu that was server in the cutest little espresso mugs, They had jars of gummy bears and chocolate rocks that they let the kids take to go cups of home. The doughnuts and coffee was just fun plus these doughnuts were not only good but they where huge. And something small that was a nice simple touch was each mom got a gift box that had mini macaroons in it, this is the only place that has done something other than a carnation, don't get me wrong the flower was always nice but there was something about having the server deliver these boxes at your table that was nicer than being handed a flowers by someone as you checked in being mumbled "happy Mother's Day" too. I can not rave about this place enough and we are already planning to be back for next mothers day, and we will be keeping an eye out for any other event brunches they do! read more

As a former event planner, I'm very particular about details. That said, I couldn't be more happy with our experience at Elements at Water Street. A couple of weeks ago, we held a baby shower for my daughter at Elements on Water Street. We wanted to do a traditional English afternoon tea for approximately 40 guests with a custom menu. We wanted to bring in our own tea pots and tiered serving trays. We also had specific ideas for the decor. Working with Cheryl prior to the event and Mollie the day of the event was a dream come true. Both were helpful and caring while still being professional. The chef, who had come from a venue downtown Chicago that serves an afternoon tea, was very willing to be flexible to our custom menu ideas. The food was not only beautifully presented but delicious! Extremely disappointed in customer service and event coordination/sales manager. I have been trying to get in contact with this venue for a wedding reception for a week in a half and left multiple voicemails. I researched online and read their wedding package details. In my voicemail, I specifically stated I wanted to book an appointment too see the venue in person. Sales manager called back and told me she didn't work the day I asked, however she did not try and work with me to figure out another day. She stated she wanted me to review the wedding package first which she would send me in email. I look at the wedding package she sent and it's the same exact package from the site. This is highly frustrating that it took over a week to actually speak with someone on the phone and they did not help me one bit. On the phone she seemed rushed and too busy to focus on a potential customer. Disappointed. read more

My child had their heart set on Elements at Water Street for their 2021-22 wedding venue. After several frustrating phone calls, emails and an unescorted tour of the venue they were finally able to set an appointment with the event and catering manager explicitly to discuss event details. Hopes of a less frustrating experience were dashed upon arrival for the aforementioned meeting. Start to finish the encounter lasted roughly ten minutes. Moreover, taking place while dashing from counter to table to bar of the venue. Any questions were deflected or otherwise left unanswered. (A folder was provided containing the same information available and previously viewed online.) The bride and groom have been unnecessarily overwhelmed and stressed by the encounter. Both sets of parents are, quite frankly, perplexed by this senior staff members behavior as our research found most reviews of the venue and this staff member positive. However, several reviews mirror our negative experience quite strikingly similar. The Bride and Groom-to-Be are no longer young adults but they are still our children. Knowing they have been treated so dismissively, quite frankly angers me. Honestly, I am lobbying that another venue is ultimately chosen. (Full disclosure, I'm not a fan of multiple aspects of this venue.) However, because this is their preferred location, I do hold out a glimmer of hope there is an elevation in the quality in interactions that allow the wedding to take place at the desired venue. The heart wants what the heart wants. Perhaps I will be able to amend my review at a later date. Hope springs eternal. read more

This is a very nice venue. We had our holiday party for work here last week and everything was wonderful! I wasn't involved with the planning of it, I just showed up to work but the staff there were wonderful - the bartenders were super friendly, and kudos to one of the staff members Zach....who could not do enough for us! From attending the coat room to bringing out our coat drive toys to water street to our cars, that guy did them all - such an asset to the place. They had some nice perks with our meal package like a gnocchi bar (the chicken garlic ones were amazing) and a mashed potato bar... so fun! I highly suggest having your event here, it really is a lovely place! read more

My experience with Elements was quite good. The venue itself couldn't have been more perfect. It gave you the look and feel of a downtown event in the downtown of the suburbs. The venue offers a lot in their package, including the wedding cake, but the food alone is worth it all. The support staff here is quite amazing. The food was phenomenal! Everyone was complimenting how great it was! The chef, Zac, truly has a gift. Molly, the Banquet Manager, was incredible the day of our event. She was always a stone throw away when we needed her and was the perfect coordinator. Lastly I would like to mention Rich (operations), who no matter how many times we went to the venue, was always there to help or provide anything we needed. Always offering us water or coffee! Communication with the Director at the beginning of 2020 had gone quite well. However that took a sharp decline as quarantine hit and we were nearing our wedding date. Everything seemed very unorganized. I would send an email with a clear laid out list of questions, only to have none or only one answered. If an answer was unknown, the questions were deflected with a rehearsed or standardized response. At one point I had sent the same question 4x back with each deflected response. I truly believe that the support staff keep this venue running and that was brought to light during the pandemic. read more

My husband and I had our wedding at Elements last weekend and I cannot say enough good things. Cheryl Cady is fabulous and works extensively with each couple to make sure every detail is covered. Throughout our year of planning, we had several meetings as well as a tasting to decide our menu. The space is really customizable to whatever feel you want, but at the same time it's already so gorgeous you don't need to spend a fortune on additional decor. The day of our wedding, the Elements team made us feel like royalty! Before our cocktail hour, Cheryl brought us in the ballroom with just our photographers so we could have a moment alone to see it before the craziness. She had champagne and appetizers waiting for us. It ended up being one of our favorite moments of the day. Also - the food is just amazing. Our guests raved about everything! Have your wedding here! I am newly engaged and was very happy and excited to tour Elements. We had an appointment with Cheryl Cady who is in charge of banquet sales. She had us waiting almost 20 minutes after our prearranged time to meet. She was not accommodating and extremely dismissive. She made it very apparent that she didn't care if she had our business or not. As we were going over prices and packages, I asked her a question about any seasonal promotions because other banquet halls I had visited have them (usually for winter months). She mentioned how elements doesn't need to do that because they're sold out. I then asked her if there were any other prices available because all per person costs are over $100 per wedding guest or if we could customize a package since we are having 250 guests. She wasn't helpful answering the previous question or any question that we asked. She avoided giving answers to basic questions and could only continue boasting about how "this place sells itself." Very unprofessional... Sadly our business will never be at Elements because of poor management,arrogance, and the unintelligent way Cheryl carries herself. DO NOT BOOK HERE! There are so many other gorgeous options in Naperville and the surrounding towns that are more affordable, more reasonable, and way better than Elements! Because like I said... "it's going to sell out either way..." We were very disappointed with our experience. Finding a venue should be exciting and fun. However when we left Cheryl put a damper on our happiness and excitement. We felt belittled and unimportant. I hope you consider our experience if you are looking to book. read more

My organization hosted an important event here in May. The venue is beyond beautiful, with an incredible walk outside balcony that overlooks the incredible river. The location itself would have made this event a success, but the food.....this was not "event" food. I would not be surprised if an executive chef cooked every piece of the dinner him/her self. The vegetarian option was anything but bland vegetables, it was perfectly spiced and fun to eat. I don't eat meat for humane reasons, but the beef fillets put down in front of our members, there are no words. The room actually got quiet moments after the plates were put down. We had our wedding reception at Elements Event Venue on May 12, 2018. We could not have been more pleased with the staff and set-up of our event. Everything was just as I envisioned. Cheryl went above and beyond to ensure everything was set-up perfectly. She really was like having a wedding planner for the reception making sure everything ran on time and went exactly as her I discussed in our planning session. My husband and I had our wedding at Elements this past Memorial Day weekend 2018. Our day was absolutely magical! The location is just stunning and also convenient. Guests who were staying overnight loved that the chic Hotel Indigo was connected. The venue is just steps away from the downtown Naperville which is filled with shops/restaurants/bars/nightlife. This was perfect for the down time in-between our ceremony and reception and also for our friends wanting to continue the party after the reception! The best part was that it we were able to utilize the scenic and beautiful riverwalk for our wedding and wedding party photos. As for the Elements staff, they were beyond to happy to host our big day. I cannot stress how many compliments on the friendliness and attentive of the staff we received. We even had a hiccup when our limo broke down that caused a big shift in our timeline and they completely adjusted. On-top of all this, the chef and food was phenomenal. My husband and I are foodies so trendy, bold, delicious food was on the top of our list -- Elements hit it out of the ball park. The space itself is so beautiful with a wooden weave ceiling, windows overlooking the riverwalk, fine dining with modern finishes, and a grand corner bar. My new wife, Cindy, and I had our wedding reception on April 15, 2017 at Elements at Water Street in the Hotel Indigo. Simply stated the Elements was perfect and you need to check this venue out. Every single aspect was fantastic. The banquet hall is as beautiful as the pictures depict. The service staff was outstanding and professional and so friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. We served our guests a choice of either the "Above and Below" or the "Pan Seared Halibut". Both entrees were fabulous and our guests raved about them. All of the courses, appetizers and snacks were 5 star. The service was perfect, the food was hot and kept coming. No waiting between courses. In addition to the great evening and food, Cheryl Cady, the Director of Banquets, is experienced, extremely helpful, had great suggestions and was always available to help.
