I've been a loyal member of Elements Massage in Sherwood, OR, for over a year and always had great experiences--until now. I've consistently spoken highly of this location, the massage therapists, and the front desk staff. However, my recent experience was appalling and completely unacceptable. On January 3rd, I canceled an appointment 21-23 hours in advance due to a scheduling conflict. This was my first-ever cancellation as a member, and I asked if the fee could be waived as a one-time courtesy given my loyalty. The associate on the phone (who introduced himself as "Anthony" or "Andrew," later identified as Jacob) refused and said I'd only avoid the fee if someone rebooked my slot. Fair enough. The next day, I followed up to confirm, and the front desk told me someone had taken the appointment. Problem solved--or so I thought. A few days later, on January 6th, I scheduled another appointment with Sophia. Less than 30 minutes before the session, I got a call saying she had to cancel due to a family emergency. Disappointed but understanding, I arrived at the location to ensure my prepaid massage credit could be used for my husband's appointment that night. I also calmly expressed my frustration with the double standard: I was nearly charged for canceling with 21-23 hours' notice, yet they canceled on me last minute with no credit or apology. On January 10th, while on vacation, I received a call from the manager. She acknowledged that the cancellation fee could have been waived and blamed the issue on Jacob being new. However, she went on to accuse me of being vulgar, combative, and disrespectful during my January 3rd phone call--allegations based on notes written by Jacob. This could not be further from the truth. I've never been rude to anyone at this establishment. My family and husband, who were present during the call, can confirm I expressed my frustration calmly and respectfully. Yet, Jacob's false notes caused Sophia to feel uncomfortable working with me, leading to the cancellation of my January 6th session. To add insult to injury, the manager revealed that Sophia didn't even have a family emergency. These false accusations have damaged my reputation at an establishment I once trusted and supported. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of customer service and accurate communication. Jacob's slanderous notes and the management's failure to resolve this issue are completely unacceptable. I've since canceled my membership and requested a refund for my January payment, along with the removal of my personal information from their system. However, the experience has left me deeply disappointed in how this business treats loyal customers. If you're considering becoming a member, be cautious. Policies seem to favor the business over the customer, and false accusations can apparently be made without accountability. I hope the franchise takes steps to improve its policies and training, as I would never recommend this location again. I sent them an email a few days ago asking for: 1. My account membership to be cancelled 2. A refund of my January massage as I can't use it anymore 3. A simple apology from Jacob for posting slanderous notes on my account 4. A removal of ALL of my information from their systems as it has become clear I can't trust their front desk staff to professionally handle personal & private information about their clients. read more

My girlfriend gifted me a massage package for 99 dollars. She bought it in Sherwood. So I went to the Portland Pearl district location to redeem it, because I live there. They told me I have to go to Sherwood, because they are independent operators. Ok I drive all the way out to Sherwood. Because it is my first massage there it is 59. She asked me if I wanted to give the rest for a tip. I declined, because I wanted get the massage first and evaluate for a tip myself. And come back for a second one another time to use up the rest. The massage is OK nothing special. But I tip the girl. I come back for second massage and ask for the credit. The girl says the balance is zero. So I got totally ripped off. I've got to give them credit for staying open during the pandemic, and giving me some very good massages. Ultimately though I left in frustration after a couple years as a member with them. Their best masseuse left to go to greener pastures, and there was an incident where I was 10min late for a 90 min massage, and rather then just let me finish out the remaining time on my massage they felt the need to waste a bunch of time, dishing out a bunch of uncalled for ridicule. Then proceeded to give me one of the worst massages I've had, probably because of all the completely unnecessary drama that they felt the need to cook up. What was especially upsetting about that was in 2+ years I never missed an appt and was only late once, but they on the other hand cancelled on me at least a half dozen times either the day of the appt or the day before the appt giving me no time to reschedule. I never complained though, stuff happens, but it's all about how you handle it, and they handle that very poorly. I would not return to them and can't recommend them. read more

Went inside and waited for several minutes with no one at the front desk and no greeting of any kind. Opened the door 2 other times to notify the bell and still no one greeted me. Left in pain without the massage I desperately needed or even any acknowledgement I was there waiting. Never giving this poorly ran business another chance and will advise anyone to do business elsewhere. read more

Looking forward to a relaxing massage. I told the therapist that my back hurt and to go lightly. I had to speak up 4 times to tell her it was too much pressure. Before I realized, 45 minutes had passed and she spent the entire time on my back. I left more stressed than when I arrived. Front desk personnel was pushing membership and scheduling a second visit. STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS! I only gave them 2 stars because the therapists were great, but unfortunately, the office manager and regional manager have very poor conflict management/resolution skills. They weren't willing to discuss the problem with me at all and nobody would give me the regional manager's contact information so I could discuss the problem directly with him. I was halfway through my treatment when it was discontinued by the office manager for an appointment mix-up due to an error made by the front office staff. They were actually going to charge my credit card on file for THEIR screw-up, so I canceled it!! That is not good business practice. I've since learned from a couple of their staff members that similar things like this have happened to other clients as well. I would never recommend or refer anyone I know to ANY of the Elements Massage locations because they are all managed by the same people. What happened to me could easily happen to anybody. read more

It's all about the practitioners, get someone good and they learn how your body reacts and can feel the knots and tensions. Wish I could keep going but I have to move out of the area . Much better than massage envy, that place is not so great. read more

I bought the prenatal massage service as a birthday gift to my wife, who is 4 months pregnant. She said her body is bruised the next day and had to repeat frequently to the therapist to go light on the pressure. The manager was supposed to call me back on this feedback and I have not heard back for a week and half now! When I call back, the employees sound helpless as they mention that they have passed this message over to the owner/manager several times. read more

So glad I'm able to still get massages during this time since I'm still working and get neck and back pain from my job. My massage therapist was James and he did an awesome job at asking and understanding my preference on pressure and making sure I was comfortable the whole time. It was nice he was checking in and able to focus on my knots and tight areas and help me feel so much better. He also showed me a stretch to help my neck tightness. I had a one hour massage on 3/28 in Sherwood. The receptionist was polite and professional. I received my massage from Heather. I asked for a deep tissue massage. My back loosened only slightly during the massage and was back to its normal tightness minutes after leaving. I have had hour massages in the past that relaxed my back for several days, but this one did not help at all. I can not comment on regular massages since my back is unusually challenging. I would not go back or recommend this Elements location for deep tissue massages. read more

Made an appointment 2 weeks ago for a pre-natal massage...the first appointment they had available over those two weeks was today. Asked numerous questions to make sure they set me up with someone certified in pre-natal. Confirmed the appointment THREE SEPARATE TIMES, (I'd been told by several people that they had a habit of 'losing' appointments) each time asking to make sure the person I was setup with did prenatal. Show up for my appointment time to be told: "We just cancelled your appointment because the person you were scheduled with wasn't comfortable doing prenatal. We tried calling you." and she confirmed my number. I received no phone calls and showed them my call record. The girl just stared at me with nothing to say as she'd just been caught lying. Not comfortable going here if they don't even know what their practitioners are certified in. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. ***And just because I'm super-pregnant, super-uncomfortable, super-disappointed and had REALLY been looking forward to this massage, thanks a lot for ruining what was the last free chance I had to get a massage before my due date; adding insult to injury by lying every step of the way. First of all when you pay for a 60 minute massage, you better get 60 minutes not 45 minutes! Receptionist was rude, offered aromatherapy and I pay $10 for a drop of oil rubbed to my back! Complained when massage was over, and receptionist returned my money but with attitude and facial expression told me everything about the care of customers! So much money wasted today for a horrible rubbed, not a massage! My three year old can give me a better massage! I felt like stopping the massage and just walking out, lay on table for 45 minutes for Kathrine just to simply rubbed my back, didn't even asked what pressure level I prefer or anything. Came out more in pain then what I went in! Have had several massages done, and I always look forward for work on my neck but today's work on my neck deserves an F on my books, not sure where she went to massage school but boy horrible from beginning to end. Wow. Worst massage ever. I asked for a cup of water and got attitude. 90 minute massage was 65 minutes. When I asked about the length, more attitude. The therapist could not have been more inept. No skill. The bed was cold no interaction between client and therapist. Deep tissue ended up being a mild effort on her part. She couldn't be bothered. When I came out of the room, no water, no exchange what so ever. Horrible. Katherine is not good. Front staff, just plain rude. The thing is that the location in Tanasbourne and Lake Oswego are great. What's up with this location?? Sherwood needs to be avoided until they figure out what's going on. read more

I asked for a deep tissue massage and mentioned I had a back injury but have had previous work on it. The massage with Heather ended up being a very light massage that didn't do anything and I left unrelaxed. She also seemed very scared that she was going to hurt me as she asked about 5 times if she was hurting me. I do not recommend this place for deep tissue massages nor a relaxing experience. read more

Hell hath no fury like the "manager" of this place if you dare to complain the day after a massage that you... can't move your head or shoulders because they are so sore from the painful "massage" you paid them for. I called to complain. The "manager" called me back and yelled at me. They still have my money for 2-4 prepaid massages I never got -- and which they never refunded though the vicious, yelling manager said they would. It's been over a year. NEVER GO HERE. It is awful, massages are dreadful. They are unprofessional as can be. Elements parent company should shut this branch down. read more

Made an appointment for a couples massage two months in advance only to arrive and be told nope, sorry, couples massage room is not available. Went ahead with individual massages. Made written request as well as verbal reminder to the therapist to please refrain from touching my head or my face. She chose not to listen. Very unfortunate. I will not be back. read more

Just got back from my first, and last, session at Elements Sherwood. The therapist, Cassie, was very good, but my leg was so incredibly tight that instead of an 80 minute massage, we had to cut it to 15 minutes, at her suggestion. She told me that the gift certificate I had would be honored for another 80 minute massage once my leg was not so tight and painful. She told me that twice. OK, not her fault about this massage, it was an unusual situation. But when I went out, they told me, direct from "the Director" that tough luck about a 15 minute massage, you have to use the whole 80 minute gift certificate, and no redo. Super bad business decision, and in conflict with what the employee said before the session was terminated. They need a new director who isn't quite so clueless. read more
