Told me some bs about how it took awhile to fax over insurance information from provider. Never received one call from the non existent office manager. Dr. Young is great but will not be retuning after multiple problems with his front desk staff who only know how to swipe cards and setup appointment. Dentistry For Life (DFL) gladly accepted my UNUM Dental Insurance for Exam and Cleaning. The DFL…read moretook Full Advantage of my UNUM Dental Insurance by taking more than just the typical bite wing but also full head and mouth X-rays and Scans to the Full Extent my Dental Insurance Allowed. The Initial Examination by the Dental Hygienist took the liberty of pushing the sale of expensive orthodonics to align and straighten teeth and expensive Deep Cleaning Gum Therapy Treatments. During the Dentist Exam it was determined that an Old Capped and Root Canal Tooth needed to be extracted but instead of simply doing the Tooth Extraction which was covered by the UNUM Dental Insurance decided to refer me to an expensive Dental Inplant and Surgery Specialist ( A Good Friend of the Dentist). After taking all the expensive pictures and scans of my teeth and jaw scheduled the Expensive Deep Cleaning for a week later to allow time to complete the time consuming procedure. When I learned that Deep Cleaning and Gum Treatments were not fully covered by the UNUM Dental Insurance I called to Cancel the Appointment as I could not afford the Expensive Dental Procedure which DFL quickly changed to a Simple Dental Cleaning in order to get a few last dollars out of my Dental Insurance was subsequently advised by DSL that my UNUM Dental Insurance would not longer be accepted by DSL and that I would need to find another Dentist Office that accepts the Insurance or pay Full Price (Non-Insured) Costs for Future Dental Services Rendered by DSL. Now forced to have to find another Less Greedy Dentist that will accept my UNUM Dental as Full Payment for Dental Services.

I was told that my insurance was "accepted" before going in when what I really needed to know was if my insurance was "in network" so thinking that I was in network I took my daughter in for her cleaning. After my daughter was called back and sitting in the chair in the pediatrician side, the lady came to tell me I would owe them $260 for the cleaning since I'm out of network with them. This caught me off guard, but with my daughter already sitting ready for the cleaning I decided to go with it anyway. It's upsetting that they used this technique to trap you in. Make sure you ask if you're "in network" or check with your insurance yourself first before heading out to them. Also I would recommend a second opinion outside of them before doing any major procedures or better yet, just go elsewhere. I was told my daughter had 3 cavities to fill, but when I took her into a different office I was told she only had one cavity. They also had us do a free orthodontists consultation in which they pushed for us to get started on for my daughter who was 11 at the time but when I took her to another trusted orthodontist, he suggested for me to wait at least another 2 years. Be weary, ask the right questions or just go elsewhere to save time and money.
