I've been going to elevate for over a year and a half... I started with the group classes and before my wedding in September I started three days a week private sessions with Bekah! She TRANSFORMED my arms and my whole body and almost nine months later I am still going three times a week with Bekah because I can't get enough! Hands down the best workout you will get in 40 minutes! The classes offer intense ways to elevate your heart rate, making it the perfect cardio/strength combo. I still feel amazing after each class and I've been doing SPX for close to three years. That's the greatest part about it...it's impossible to reach that dreaded exercise plateau because no two classes are the same. The vast number of exercises available on the reformer keeps your body guessing and the classes more fun. The airy studio is clean and inviting. You'll never get bored because the workout goes by so quickly with great music and motivating instructors. All of the teachers as well as the owners, Lisa and Dean, are really nice and caring people. Not sure what the 2 negative reviews of "horrible unfriendly staff" is about. Maybe they didn't go to the Technique class first to learn the basics? If you have never been, then start with the Technique class. They guide you every step of the way. I went to 2 technique classes before going into the regular class. Teacher is always helpful, watching to make sure i am doing the right moves, and assisting me with moderations bc of my lower back issues. Bit of a "cougar" scene, is my only complaint... but living in Solana/Del Mar--- you learn to live with that. I am totally HOOKED! After 3 kids, my ab muscles were NON EXISTENT. Now-- i'm starting to see a little definition, after 5 classes (1x/wk). Great workout for my core & my lower legs. You will be sweating your butt off when you leave the class! read more

I have done SPX a few times now and I am hooked! This is such a great workout and I kid you not...you WILL see results in just a few sessions! My energy is back and I look forward to going to the classes! (I am not a fitness freak so thats not normal for me to say) I particularly love that every class is different so it keeps you interested. I went to this class with my best friend while visiting San Diego and am completely addicted. It may possibly be the reason I relocate to San Diego. Not only is the facility clean, but modern, the machines are cutting edge, the music is great and the instructors are so knowledgeable and helpful. I was a little afraid to be the "new person" but felt comfortable right away with the concise explanation. I did not feel like the idiot newbie that took attention away from the regulars; NO ONE wants to be "that" girl. If you are looking for a class to really push yourself mentally and physically I would give Sculpt a try. Unfortunately, you will be addicted and its not cheap, but hey, you cant put a price-tag on looking good right?! read more

I came here on a Groupon and LOVED this place. The morning classes were timed perfectly (6:50 - 7:20am is the perfect time between not waking up too early and still make it to work on time). The SPX classes are AMAZING and work every muscle you've got. Even though it all just LOOKS like you're stretching, my cardio still went up and stayed up the entire time. The teacher was great and kept an eye on me when he knew I was a newbie so it made it really easy to get into. Too bad this place is big pricey for the membership - otherwise, I was SOLD! read more

We had been going to a more traditional group pilates place in nearby Encinitas for over a year. We were looking for a better work out and felt that we were plateaued at the other pilates place. We were both a bit scared going in...intimidated too. We had our first class and the instructors were all very nice. They showed us how the equipment worked and gave us variations that were easier at first so that we could get through the class. After about 4 to 5 classes, we noticed that we were breezing through our pilates classes at the old place. We could see how Core 40 got us stronger and built up our endurance. We left that old pilates place and have stuck with Core 40 for several months now. All of their instructors are very professional and motivating. The music is great and helps carry you through a tough workout. You get it all done in 40 minutes and are completely wiped out. I recommend the foundation classes to start, but then don't be afraid to try the half spin, half sculpt classes. Its a great way to get your cardio in with core and upper body work too. I can't say enough good things about this place. Great equipment, very nice studios, fantastic instructors (Desiree, Courtney, Jenna, Kim, Kelly, Dean...you can't go wrong!). Give this place a try...no matter if your a guy, girl, current or former athlete...all will be challenged and you will feel great when you get through a workout. read more

I can't believe how much a 40 minute workout can do for you! The upbeat music, extra wide reformer type machines give you a full body workout as intense as it gets! It is yet surprisingly manageable! A lot of focus is on endurance, and very creative use of the machines. Easy to follow instructions since the machines have white lines on them which are numbered. Smart, whoever thought of that! The spin and core workout is also amazing, just the right amount of each - keeps you coming back for more! Invigorating and motivating! read more

While this class is not for everybody (you will work hard and perform specific movements). I did the 6:00 AM class and have to say that I've not had a 40 minute workout kick my bootie in a long time like this one did (I was reminded for a couple of days after that I did this core class). It is very intimate studio so it can be a bit more controlled. The instructor was good about monitoring the class and, as I was clearly the only one that had not done the class before (easy to tell) the instructor was working with me to get it right. It was different being assisted since in a past life I was the instructor and I don't remember the Pilates style floor workouts ever being that tough! Ironically I had signed up for the Yelp trial class and got the day wrong so I ended up in class a day early. This was clearly not a beginner's class so I think I really got an intense core 40 experience! This was the second time I had ever used a Pilates' machine; the Core 40 class is centered on using this as well as some weight resistance while really working your "core". I'm impressed with anyone that does these classes; I've been going to a gym regularly - doing strength training and running 4 miles or on the cross country trainer for a minimum 1 hour workout (usually 1.5) about 4 - 5 days a week and I've haven't felt as worked out from this regular routine like I did doing this Core 40 class using the "machine". If you want to get super fit in less than 1 hour a day this might be the way to go, but be ready to sweat and expect a "learning curve". It seems a little pricey but I think you get what you pay for here if you can do the work - it is still cheaper that hiring a fitness trainer (and you basically have a coach when you are in there). The classes are small which allows for more attention to participants. Seems like a good way to start the day. read more

Hmmm, I have a fickle relationship with Bekah. Love how she greets everyone and makes you feel welcome but then class begins. Every class has been the same so far. For the first 10-15 minutes, I tell myself, "Nope, not doing this again. I'm dying here! Why, oh why am I actually paying for this!???" The next 20 minutes kind of passes in a blur with Bekah's encouraging words and upbeat music...oh and I realize, we're almost done! Love when I notice a wipe on the machine somewhere signaling to me that the end is very near. Then the feeling of accomplishment overtakes me and I'm scheduling my next class...even after the time when I could barely walk from the back of the machine to the front in the machine during the middle of class! A couple of months ago I started looking for a Pilates Studio and found Sculpt Pilates Plus (SPX) on Yelp. Everybody was raving about it so I gave it a try with one of their $5 intro classes. I was hooked immediately. I used to run for hours a day or ride my bike for hours a day and now all I have to do is go for this non stop 40 minute workout and I get amazing results! I have never been one to post on any kind of board, but this place is so good, that I had to sign up for Yelp and tell everyone about it. I am totally addicted! Elevate training is one of my favorite studios in Solana Beach. If you're looking for a challenging, quick and *extremely sore the next day* workout then this studio is ideal. Sculpt Pilates is the BEST work out in town! SPX training will increase your strength, muscle stamina and endurance in a matter of just a few classes and I am not kidding. The routines are fun and energetic. You will feel so good after just a 40 minute workout. The classes are virtually semiprivate as there are a limited number of SPX Reformer beds per class. The trainers are very knowledgeable and always have new/fun routines for you to follow. Try it once and you will see...I am hooked and I have tried a lot of different classes from kickboxing to yoga. You WILL see results at Sculpt. If you are deterred because you think pilates might be too difficult, think again. The instructors will show you modified moves should you want to take it down a notch. Sculpt Pilates accommodate all fitness levels. I can't say enough good things about both Sculpt Pilates in Solana Beach and Move Pilates in North Park. This workout has transformed my body. This is the place that has changed everything - my wife and I have been coming religiously since June 2010 and wow, what a life-changer. I've done the gym, personal trainer - shoot, I even played baseball in college and wasn't in the shape I'm in now! Amazing total body workout. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and caring. I've tried several types of boutique workouts/gyms and this one was the best. My body has changed so much with this workout, and my balance is even better. I have long lean muscles, and I feel so much stronger. I am a competitive surfer, and this workout has taken me to the top of my game. My legs are much stronger and my improved balance continues to amaze me. I like this studio. I also like the variety of teachers they have. Some play cool music, some louder than others. Everyone has a different style, so I would suggest you try till you find a few you like. I had to. I hated my first class here and said I wasn't coming back. Partially because it was so hard. But now I want to take that class because that teacher had incorporated more cardio into her class. I am a weight lifting, cardio girl so pilates was a challenge to slow way down and work out differently. You do need sticky socks here now! They sell some for $10 and nicer ones for more. But you can't take the class with out them. The studio is clean, we all wipe our reformers down after class. The bathroom offers deodorant and clean up goodies for you which is really nice! No showers or locker room. They also have a cycle room I don't cycle so I have never been in it. Upstairsfrom Banfield in the Beachwalk center. read more

A couple of friends and I tried the unlimited 2 week promotion and we all noticed a change in our bodies within a few classes. After the 2 weeks I was hooked and decided to join. You have to have a sense of humor because this is truly one of the more humbling experiences ever. Stephanie, Bekah and Cassidy are amazing, they each have their own way of motivating and I've never been disappointed or embarrassed as a newbie. This type of workout has seriously helped me to get over the exercise plateau I have been experiencing. By using the SPX machine along with your body resistance it forces your muscles to work. In the couple of months I have been doing this workout I have noticed my strength increase, my body is more toned, and I am burning more fat! No longer do I have to work out for hours 6 days a week. I am working out smarter, not harder. I was invited to try this pilates method out just the other day (they have a great introductory offer!) Even though I have been doing mat pilates, nothing really compares to this workout! Seriously, in 40 minutes your'e done and feeling stronger as the days progress. Of course I was sore for a couple of days, but actually the soreness helped me identify the muscle groups that need more strengthening - so now I can focus better on those areas. As a professional ballet dancer, I have found this to be the best workout out there. Forget all the "barre this" and "barre that" classes. If you want a hard (and I mean really hard 40 minute) work out this is the place to go. As a mom of 2 young boys, my time is precious and I love that I can really get a fantastic workout in 40 minutes. Alona is a sensational teacher. I just finished my first spin class ever and it was more fun than I ever expected! I didn't think I could get such a great workout from a spin class, but now I know that I definitely need some more of it in my life. The instructor Courtney brought on the energy, fun, and had a great playlist to boot! And this is coming from someone who is not a fan of exercise bikes. I still have to try out their SPX classes, but I always love those. The studio was new and clean, but a little hard to find (on the 2nd floor in the corner), so get there early. This is an incredibly intense workout that is always challenging and interesting. The studio is very clean (although there isn't a shower). They play a lot of diversified and energizing music during the workouts, which are challenging enough to keep you engaged and focused-you don't realize that you've been working out as long as you have! It is by no means an easy workout as it seriously focuses on Core and Obliques. Some of the moves can be a bit of a challenge. I find most of the instructors to be nice, encouraging, and motivating. The overall vibe is very positive and pleasant. I do wish that they would explain the moves more (there are often quick switches so it can be confusing if you haven't done the move or are new to the work out). Also, some instructors seem to have much MUCH harder classes than other (it would be nice if Sculpt would somehow indicate which classes are more advanced). Also, I would say that it would be nice to have options for different exercises rather than just the most complex. Class size is limited to 11, which is nice. You have to book classes through an online system, which is convenient, although I find that weekend classes fill up quickly and it's often difficult to schedule a class then, even in advance. The cost is not cheap, but when you consider that you can do the basic class, or spinning, or spin sculpt, or sculpt barre, it ends up being a good deal. I love Sculpt and am giving them 4 stars only because there isn't a shower, they do not seem to be offering their intro/technique class very often anymore, and there are a few instructors that are not as descriptive and instructional as I would like (Although this is minor and seems to only be a few instructors). read more

I love this place, the work out is by far one of the best workouts I have ever done. It has gotten my body into shape that I never thought possible! It also helps me with other types of workouts that i do to mix up my routine. Sally the owner is by far one of the sweetest and helpful owners. This place definitely ROKS! I'm already super fit, but the quick 40-minute workouts are extremely intense, challenging & will change your body into an even leaner, meaner, sculpted machine. You will love the small, intimate classes, fresh, clean upscale atmosphere, cool music, ocean air breezes - and their online scheduling system. I don't think this is the place to go if you're not already pretty fit. It's such an intense core-workout that you have to be decently in shape to get through the class. I do the "unlimited" option which is $189 a month - but for the exclusive atmosphere, top notch equipment & small classes - it's worth every penny. You MUST at least try a class!!! read more
