I've been to aerial yoga and pilates a few times, they're fun and challenging but are not for me with the ropes. However the instructors are very patient and helpful. I got into the bungee class one time, expecting that to be fun (which is was) but was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken!!! Not difficult to follow but simple moves become very difficult on the bungee with the resistance. It was great I was sore for days after. Been wanting to try aerial yoga for a while now but I have always been scared to do it. The instructor was Sarah, really nice, soft spoken and helpful. It was my first time doing aerial yoga. I've done regular yoga before but it's so different from aerial. So it was very interesting to try new things. I was able to do things I've never done before with being walked through poses thoroughly. The studio felt very cozy. The hammocks were definitely a learning curve and thankfully the flooring is padded so if you fall, you'll be okay. I also really enjoyed the lighting, wasn't too dark or too bright. I have been coming to Elevate on and off for a few years now... it's a great studio! I personally go for the aerial classes, aerial yoga is way more interesting than regular yoga, plus having the support of the hammock actually helps with a lot of the poses! Plus you get to do cool things like go upside down, and take savasana in a cocoon. I recently started taking the aerial power class which is a little higher energy and more conditioning based - it's a great workout! They are starting bungee classes and I can't wait to try one out. I'm finishing up my new member 1 month pass at Elevate and it has been awesome! Being new to yoga in general, it's just a safe space to play and experiment in a setting where people are of all different ages and skill levels. The format options seem endless at first, and it took me the first week to understand what types of classes I was signing up for. My personal preference was the power classes, using the silks for strength exercises. Fire BUTI is an upbeat faster paced type of yoga with more emphasis on music. Then on days when I went for a long run on my own time I loved going to the "Water" classes which was a full hour of deep stretch and meditation. There are also quite a few instructors - somehow I never had the same person more than 3-4 times! If you are in the sodo, belle isle area, or work downtown, the studio location is perfect - with a fresh kitchen, Starbucks, Publix and more across the street if you need to stop for something after :) read more

This yoga center is located on the second floor of the building and parking can be busy depending on what time you go because there are restaurants in the same building. Small clean studio but plenty of space for the class. Super friendly staff and they all helped me feel welcome for my first time there. Instructions were easy to follow. 5 Stars for a yoga studio that features aerial yoga classes (among other things) taught with knowledge, kindness, and a a sprinkle of lightheartedness! I'll start by saying that I've only ever taken aerial yoga classes from this studio (a whopping two times so far), but they made a big impression on me! But first- the location. This studio is upstairs from the Tijuana Flats in the SoDo district. To get upstairs, head to the side of the building as there's no entrance from the front. The stairs will lead you to a hallway and you'll see a sign! I have taken yoga classes at studios all over Central Florida and yet this experience was so different! Not only because of the fact that we were using silk hammock-like structures to do elevate poses, but because of the sense of exploration and instant camaraderie in the room. Sarah was teaching the class and she waited a few minutes for some folks who had signed up on the mindbody website. Pro-tip: - There's a $20 for a new student 5 class pass. Um. Yeah. You know I bought myself a pack! - you can sign up for classes online to make sure you have a spot. Not sure how necessary this is because most of our class hadn't signed up ahead of time, but if you're running late, they'll wait a few mins for you. Back to the class. The lights were a bit dim, which helped relieve some of the nervous energy I had about facing a mirrored wall and knowing there were only two of us newbies in the class. Luckily, the mirror actually helped me see more angles of some of the more practiced attendees and I had a few cheer me on as I tried to land a fun move. I ultimately gave up on that move (because MY GOD, does no one have any fear?!), but the support was there from the start. I felt like we were a small woman tribe, all exploring our bodies' capabilities together. And we were occasionally giggling out loud as we tried new moves and poses. This is not a stuffy class by any means! Did I surprise myself with some of my skills on the silks? Yeah! Did I look like a graceful gazelle? Not yet... Either way, this inclusive environment led me to buy the class pass and now I'm checking the schedule to go back soon! PLUS, being a fairly active, fit person, I was stoked to feel slight soreness in muscles I've not felt before. This practice definitely allows you to stretch deeper and allows folks like me to play with inversions that I'd be afraid to do unassisted by a harness of sorts. Overall, loved the class! And I was glad they had extra mats available (used minimally during the aerial class) so I could ostensibly catch a class anytime I'm in the area with minimal prep or prior planning. read more

Emily did an excellent job of making my sister and I feel comfortable as it was our first class. She carefully walked us through each step and offered modifications when needed. If you're a beginner this is definitely a class for you. The mood of the studio is one of peace and serenity. The "pros" who clearly have been "in the air" awhile were kind and patient as they encouraged us through the class. Wow, I think I'm in love! It was so much fun! I'm new to yoga and my first time to aerial, but I decided to give this place a try when I saw them pop up on Groupon $36; drop in classes are just $8. I'm so glad I did! I always loved Cirque Soleil and figured that this may be the closest experience to it :) This studio offers all different kinds of yoga... from hot, aerial, Vinyasa, AcroYoga, BUTI, hatha, and even palates! My first visit was slightly intimidating at first, but I soon felt somewhat at ease. I'm pretty athletic and semi flexible, so that may have helped. The class is good for all levels, and the instructor made it clear to do what felt comfortable. Good instructor... she gave pretty clear instructions,.and played fun upbeat music like pop/hip hop. Ashley was very informative and she gave great instructions.She was very knowledgeable and helpful. We were all beginners and she made us all feel comfortable and allowed us to have some fun while sticking to my chosen schedule. Bob the owner made booking the appointment and payment smooth and he was able to adjust my booking day of the event when my party number decreased drastically. Also before booking was able to answer all questions before I was able to make sure everyone was prepared on the day of the party. We also took pictures in our favorite poses. I came here with my boyfriend and I thought the class was great! The instructor made us feel right at home, and told us to not worry about what anyone else was doing; rather to focus on ourselves. I love this place soooo much with a passion. It's a place where I can relieve stress. All the instructors have different ways of teaching so it's nice to go to something a little different. I've tried aerial yoga, aerial power fit yoga and about to try hot yoga. My favorite ones are the power fit since it's a different way to work out without feeling like you're working out due to the things you can do with the silks. It is so good to find a solid yoga studio that not only offers a great variety of interesting practice styles and convenient hours every day of the week, but also a fantastic group of instructors that are gracious and accommodating to everyone's current practice level. I was introduced to EYC through a Yelp event earlier in the year, and I left with such a good feeling about the entire experience, that I felt compelled to buy the introductory 5-class pass. I've been consistently coming in for the last 3 weeks and I'm so happy that I made the decision to try EYC beyond the first time. I have now taken a couple of Aerial classes as well as the Rise and Flow class (first thing in the morning), and it has been nothing but amazing, each in their own unique way. The instructors are clearly knowledgeable and they focus on the individual needs of all participants. They are quick to suggest modifications to any pose, and they are quite clear on explaining the progression of all poses. Specifically for aerial classes, it is so important when the instructor is clear about how to accomplish a pose and how to move and breathe through it. For someone like myself who has been practicing yoga for a number of years, but I am new to aerial, it is refreshing to practice my base knowledge with this completely new way of approaching yoga. Beyond this, the studio is split into two main areas: Earth and Air, for non-aerial and aerial respectively. There are plenty of props, blankets and extra mats available. The studio itself is super clean and inviting with minimalist decoration that never feels too cluttered. This is certainly a great find, and I love that it's in the SoDo district of town. read more

The instructor was very nice, helping everyone get in and out of poses, and to get over fears. She was very reassuring and motivating. The studio was clean and in good condition. I have only been here once using a workout app called Class Pass (I highly recommend this app!) and I tried the Aerial Yoga class. Oh my goodness I loved it!!! Even though I am severely out of shape I felt very welcome and taken care of there. The instructor (ugh I wish I could remember her name) was so encouraging and pushed me (kindly) out of my comfort zones to try things I never thought I would be able to do. It was a great class and even relaxing. I would do yoga like this forever. The downfall is this isn't close to my home so it's not a convenient location to me but I wish it was. Let me first say, I love Elevate! They not only offer traditional mat classes, meditation, and massage. They offer aerial yoga as well using silk hammocks! I've been going to Elevate for over a year now and there is always great energy and wonderful instructors leading the classes. Sarah and Niki are my fave! If you're looking for more of a workout and getting your butt kicked, check out one of Sarah's classes. Especially, the Aerial Barre class, it kicks your...well, you know. If you want something more slow paced and chill, check out Niki's Aerial Yin classes. You'll be floating out of the studio after her class. They have 2 rooms, Earth and Air. Earth would be for more of your mat based classes and Air would be your Aerial classes. I frequent the Aerial Yoga classes because they're so much fun and allows me to do different things than I can on my mat, especially when you can try some flips and tricks. My favorite is at the end when we get into savasana in the hammocks. You're in your own little cocoon! The great thing about the aerial classes is that you're able to stretch deeper and use the hammock for support while doing so. Plus, inversions are pretty fun after you get past the first time jitters! And don't worry if you don't have (or bring) a mat, they have plenty to use. The teachers are all kind and ready to help anyone that needs it. BTW: They offer 5 classes for $20 for new students. It's a great opportunity to check out different classes and see what you like! This updated review is based on my experience taking Niki's Hatha and Yin Yoga classes. I consider myself a "regular" now and make a point to take these 2 specific classes taught by Niki. They're much more slower paced with a focus on postures , stretching and meditation. Honestly, these classes keep me sane when I'm having a crappy day/week. I really do look forward to them. Word of warning-- Niki has quite a following. I suggest signing up online in advance and getting to her classes about 15-30 minutes early because a line will form outside the door to check in. Most importantly, you want to snag a good spot . It was so packed in the last 2 classes I attended that she had to move the class facing an opposite side of the room to fit more folks! Props are provided but I make sure to bring my own mat. Also, dress comfortably. I just love, LOVE these classes. It's a wonderful way to end your day with positivity. Niki also goes out of her way to hand out yoga fortunes at the end of her class , which are optional. I just love what she is about and her practice. Plus there's a deal right here on Yelp. They are associated with MINDBODY app which makes it super easy to sign up for classes.
