Pathways through the park are a mix of paved and gravel. Watch out for goose poop when crossing through the fields. Pets are welcome on a leash and be sure to pick up after them. State parks are "carry in, carry out" so there are no trash bins. Be sure to bring your own trash bag to dispose of your trash at home.

A pre school little table, old airline blankets to sit on--but only 6 of those, no cups no cutlery no placemats, no nothing----nothing for smores, 4 thin wood sticks and a metal tub big enough for a baby for the fire, nothing to light anything, one 18" light strand, tiki torches that didn't light---need I go on? It was a complete travesty? How are they allowed to operate? Montauk and the Town of East Hampton need to shut them down immediately. Yelp needs to kick them off because they are fraudsters. I love a good dirty martini, but because of my allergy to red peppers, I often cannot have a dirty martini at restaurants because the olive juice has had olives with pimentos in them or the olives have been placed with cherries which I'm also allergic to. Diana went above and on by securing a jar of green olives that did not have pimentos and had the bartender make my drinks using that. Talk about exceptional service! When the food was brought out, Shawn, the manager, personally came over to see to it that I was all set. he conversed easily with my husband and me and had us smiling and laughing in no time. That's a rare gift! Ballards is very lucky to have him as a manager representing their establishment. It does cost money to get in, but I think it's free after like 6pm. Only thing I wasn't a fan of is the swimming area. There are big patches of grasses growing right where you'd swim during high tide, and it makes the swimming area very small, and a few big rocks that should be moved and are dangerous. Very clean beach. Haven't seen really any trash or plastic. There are crabs to catch, and shells to find. They even let us drop off for free. It is considered one of the best beaches in Ct.

We drove down Memorial Blvd from where we were staying in Middletown and then found the beach. There a paid parking lot, but - had we known - there's also street parking if you're lucky or go there early enough during a not heavy season. The beach is a three-quarter mile long strip. You get beautiful views of the ocean and coast. I saw some surfers and families enjoying laying out on the sand. Apparently, there's also an aquarium that is run by a non-profit that's goals is to protect and preserve the Narragansett Bay. Tip: If you're doing the Cliff Walk, you'll walk along the boardwalk on an incline from the paid parking lot. You'll then see signs pointing to where the Cliff Walk begins.

The beach is lovely but there is a downside , the beach itself is very narrow so when it begins to get crowded you are pretty much shoulder to shoulder with other beach goers . You will also find the sand to be grainy with lots of broken shells. Also, there are no public bathrooms as the strip is mainly for the hotel guests. Even still the ocean is relaxing and beautiful !
