It was the kind of Italian restaurant I always enjoy; authentic with house made pasta, friendly service and fresh menu that is very reasonably priced. As we were some of the early dinners, they let us choose our table. Once seated we were presented with olives and freshly made foccacia to snack on while we checked out the menu. It didn't take us long as we were both in the mood for pasta and I jump at the chance to get grilled squid whenever I see it. Shockingly, we both passed on the crab ravioli special that our server was raving about. While that sounded very good, we had no regrets with how we played it. -Fresh wild rocket with shaved parmesan and cherry tomatoes -Marinated grilled baby squid -Pappardelle con Salsiccia e Funghi-Homemade pasta with sausage, mushrooms and red onions -Tagliolini con Gamberi e Zucchine-Homemade pasta with prawns, courgettes, chilli and tomato sauce. -Tiramisu I had the pasta with sausage and it was excellent, as was my wife's prawn pasta. The tiramisu was a very good one. After settling up our inexpensive bill, we were offered comp limoncellos, grappa or sambuca. We passed, though that is a nice touch. I also got to work on my improving grasp of the Italian language with the staff and left feeling fairly confident that I could have done it all in Italian, if necessary. Pleasant service, cozy setting and a delectable menu that's well priced. We'll be back and often.

First off the food was decent however for £15 per small plate of pasta I felt underwhelmed given the price. Perhaps that's just London. The service was slow at times also perhaps typical for London. They messed up the first dessert order (soufflé) and in all it was almost half an hour until it showed up. They did offer a complimentary dessert drink but I rarely drink alcohol so it only benefited my date. I would say there are better options. -A

So, on Friday (appropriately) I stopped by. This chippie's shtick is that it's owned and operated by a single family and has been for years and years. You have to appreciate that. At least, I appreciate that. The interior is clean and welcoming, and the front waiting area, while small, was comfortable and offered up a paper and a magazine for customers to peruse while waiting for their takeaways. The front area is separated from the back, so diners who are eating in won't feel as if they're being creepily watched by takeaway customers. The cost of the takeaway, however, was quite surprising, and the prices associated with the eat-in menu were even more so. Over £7 for a small cod and chips and £9 for a large to take away is a bit steep. And, let me tell you, the portions didn't exactly justify this price either. I assume Brady's reconciles the price-to-portion discrepancy by insisting that it cooks everything to order. But, if I'm honest, I didn't notice much of a taste difference between it and a regular old chip shop. Brady's runs daily specials at reduced rates, so perhaps if you opt for one of them, you won't get as much of a shock when you receive your bill. The starters available while dining in are supposedly unmissable (so says Time Out, at least), so maybe judging Brady's by its takeaway service is a bit unfair. I'll return to dine in one of these days...

I had a dark and stormy which is a Kracken rum with ginger ale cocktail. We started off with huge oysters with 3 diff types of dressing. Then a plate of peeled tiger prawns served with a dip came out they were very tasty and large with a tiny bit of the tail left on which made it easier to hold. A plate of small fishcakes came out made with salmon and finally a beetroot smoked salmon served on rye bread. These combinations came out a few times so it was a lovely evening of canapes, wine, beer and cocktails. Looking at the prices and location i will definetly be back to dine there.

They specialize in exquisite cocktails and more refined fare, plates you might see in ritzier London hoods, maybe even Mayfair. Overall the service was beyond fantastic with our server being perfectly attentive and charming, providing just enough guidance and explanation to enhance our experience. My companion and I each opted for the prix fixe "journey" dinner, with about 4-5 small plates with accompanying cocktails. I chose the Eastern tinged "Silk Road" and my companion went for the "Castilian." The small plates were beautifully presented and had about two to three bites. My journey featured duck, crisp rolls, perfectly cooked fish, and other tasty tidbits. Even the runner was wonderfully cordial, filled with smiles. I would definitely return, even to just sit at the fun bar and people watch.

Some friendly, but could not cope. Starters were average but extremely tiny. A bit of a rip off. Clearly "English" artichokes were used as I have never seen such a disappointment of a vegetable. (See my photo for size). Two bites and done. Mains - burger was probably the only hit on the table. Other dishes to avoid, the stuffed corgettes, waterery tasteless matter, as if they had been frozen. The cote de boeuf, what a disgrace. Asked for medium rare, came bleu, not exactly the most tender piece of meat but this, this was dreadful. Fatty throughout, with tough stuff, the bone had some meat but not enough to take off nor was the meat tender enough. (See photo posted). Pure and simple, the meat was a joke. The manager excuse didn't work for me. After such a disappointment of a meal, we wanted to leave , although we would sit there for a while until service resumed again. Bill please! Let's get out now! Never again.

It's all about fish and we were a bit bemused when the first thing our waiter warned us about was that they were out of steak. Does that mean everyone's been avoiding the fish?! We were a group of six, and four of us opted for the simple fish and chips which at £15 a pop weren't exactly a bargain but beat the prices of the long list of "Catch of the Days" which are priced by weight. I was shocked when the waiter suggested a kilo portion of monk fish tails - even half a portion amounts to a massive amount, both of food as of money. The puttanesca sauce it was served with was made with capers rather than olives. While the tartare sauce was a yoghurt/dill concoction. It comes as a surcharge if ordered with anything other than the fish and chips - trust me, it's not worth it! And I really don't like stringy American fries with a quintessential British dish!! The service was rather confused, they kept forgetting our drinks orders ... it would have been a nice touch to be offered another portion of bread while only one of our friends had a starter. The original (complimentary?) serving consisted of the thinnest slices of baguette I have ever encountered. This is starting to sound like a real cheapskate review, but it actually is one of sheer disappointment at what should have been a special night out. Summary: confident prices like this demand a higher level of service.
