The officer that took my information was very patient, professional, and got all of my information. I had all of the transactions with me. It was plain, and a little humorous: he sorta tried to say that these were hard to prosecute and that there were bigger fish to fry. While he was trying to not tell me, I said that I knew that it wouldn't be solved quickly if at all. I told him, I understood "no DNA in a day". He agreed and seemed a little relieved. I don't blame them cuz There are definitely bigger Fish to Fry.

Yesterday evening, 09/25/2024, about 7:30 p.m., I called the Hutto P.D. to report the presence of a…read morelarge rattlesnake in my backyard. I live in the Brooklands subdivision just off of CR 137 in Hutto, TX. I told the front desk person that the snake was curled up near our back patio and that I needed an officer to come by. An officer was dispatched to my home and confirmed that indeed the snake was a full-grown adult Western Diamondback rattlesnake. I want to commend the officer and his back-up (I didn't get their names) in the manner they handled the situation. Using appropriate snake-handling tools, the officers calmly took control of the 4-foot rattlesnake and killed it. They fixed the problem of the fully-grown venomous snake in our backyard to my satisfaction. (Note: I DO NOT want a large rattlesnake released anywhere near my family ... I want it dead.) Both officers were polite and professional and exhibited a serious focus in doing a task that's not normally associated with police work. The Hutto Police Department is fortunate to have these two men working as police officers. They are an asset to the department and should be recognized for their proficiency and competence.

An officer called me back at 6:17pm and said he would come check it out. The dogs were still running free with small children in area and other small dogs. 7:30pm still no sign of officer or animal control! I called back at 7:34pm and the dispatcher said the officer had driven by and not seen anything. I said NO he didn't because I've been sitting right here watching for him. Then the officer called me back and said he didn't come because the owner of the dog attacked did not call in to file a complaint. I asked isnt there a leads law in this city and he responded "I'm not sure i would have to look it up". It's called Ordinance 1468 officer! Not to mention we are in Travis County and they have ordinances against this!

Taylor is one of those small Texas towns that has been largely untouched by the urban development,…read morebut that's definitely changing. Just on the edge of town the gargantuan Samsung project is nearing completion ( it even has its own highway). And next to Samsung are literally hundreds of brand new homes that have just been built along with a high school. Taylor still continues to have that small town charm with many small businesses lining Main Street and it's big enough to have its own H-E-B. If you decide on visiting Taylor, you'll be pleased to know that the traffic is negligible and none of the parking downtown has parking meters. Currently in 2026 Taylor is celebrating it's 150th anniversary. With all the growth that's coming this way it would be interesting to see a review 10 years from now to see how things have changed. They are very focused on making sure their small space is accessible and well-stocked for all Hutto residents, which gives them a small, but still solid, collection of books to choose from. They also offer plenty of great activities and resources for all ages, especially for kids in the summer, where they have tons of great shows, from magic to exotic creatures. The cemetery once used to sit way out in the countryside, but now the 21st-century has grown up…read morearound it. A busy road in front of it, residential homes nearby, and a storage facility directly behind it. The property is relatively well cared for, and even the older headstones from the late 1800s have been cleaned and restored. Like pretty much all cemeteries from this time, people did not live very long and you see plenty of infant and child graves. This may or may not be an active cemetery anymore since the last internment here was in 2012. I did find some Woodman of the world markers and a confederate soldier grave. One thing that was conspicuously absent was a Texas historical sign. The pictures included tell the rest of the story.
