My whole life I suffered with bad teeth for many reasons, some of which were medical. I've been to dentists who were cold and intimidating , and did not make the process any easier so then I wouldn't go back and the problems would of course worsen. That all changed when I met Dr. Arthur Isakov at Dental Concepts in Glen Cove. I was very nervous and apprehensive, but I walked into a very sterile and clean environment with very high tech equipment. As soon as I met Dr. Isakov I knew I liked him. He has such a warm and funny personality. He is very friendly and approachable. I came to him in a very serious condition where I needed to have all my teeth removed and replaced with either dentures or implants. I've never been more afraid of having to do something like I was with this. But Dr. Isakov and his assistant Luz were both so gentle and caring. The two of them together were so calming and reassuring. Every few minutes he would stop and ask if I was okay. He pulled them all out so quickly! I hardly had time to realize that it was done. I became very emotional afterwards because it was a scary and overwhelming experience for me, but they both hugged me and reassured me that I was okay. Dr. Isakov made sure I understood the post op instructions . That night he actually called me to check on me. He said I can call his cell phone at any time if I had any questions or concerns. He then called me several times over the next few days to make sure I was okay. I have never had a dentist care so much and take time out of their very busy days to check on me. And it's not like he calls to check on me because he feels obligated. You can tell how genuine and sincere he is. He truly cares about his patients. I have my son going to him now and I've told all of Glen Cove about my experience. For me it was so much more than just finding an incredible dentist who is above par, but finding someone who is also a great person. And Dr. Isakov is exactly that. He is an exceptionally experienced and talented dentist, but he is also an amazingly kind and compassionate person. I know this is a long review and I hope whoever needed to hear this has read it. I absolutely recommend Dr Isakov over any other dentist there is. Go see him and speak to him and you will feel the exact same way as I do. It will be the best decision you make. I know it was for me. :)

While the staff are very nice, dr isakov is a whole other story…read more I went to him because a filling had come out recently. He sees the tooth and says he has to have xray done. So after the xray is done and NOT BEFORE, he tells me he doesnt replace fillings because in time, his will come out as well and henceforth has to do a crown !!!! He also tells me that if the filling comes out, there had to be decay though there was no evidence of such, and henceforth he has to give an injection and remove more of my tooth. So i then say to him, if there was decay that the prevoius dentist didnt remove and now you are, why dont you remove the decay and do the filling ? Because my fillings dont hold up. Why is that ? decay. But you remove the decay.... AND THIS WENT AROUND IN A LUDICROUS CIRCLE. Then, he tells me that another tooth has to be pullled because it is infected when meanwhile i feel no discomfort and nothing is swollen. And for a cavity that doesnt even bother me, which means nothing has progressed to the nerve or root, this tooth has to be pulled out as well.... and he didnt even discuss the other xrays... This doctor in my opinion is a disgrace and should be avoided.

Those bridges are now almost 6 years old, without ever being a problem....the work is so good that I don't even know which of my teeth are real or fake... Please know that the guy is a straight-shooter. You are going to get good or bad news without sugar-coating. You're going to get the bare facts from him, not an act. If you'd rather have a song and dance then great dentistry, go elsewhere. He's a pretty direct guy. His assistants are friendly and very competent. The whole experience is what one should expect from what is, let's face it, an unpleasant necessity of life.

I went to the IAOMT site and also called Dams to get a list of recommended dentists. I did a lot of research over a month-long period, even going to one dentist in Manhattan and calling several others to get a sense of how seriously they treat amalgam replacement. I unfortunately had to eliminate most of the Manhattan dentists (one sounded great but was super expensive and doesn't allow cancellations; the others, frankly, didn't sound too good). I finally decided it was worth the trip to NJ to see Dr. Steinberg. So far that's turned out to be one of my better decisions. He takes *every* precaution in the book when replacing your amalgam fillings--he covers your clothing and face; gives you oxygen; uses a vacuum under your chin to suck away the mercury vapor; exposes only the tooth he is working on; uses suction on the tooth (to further pull away the mercury vapor); uses a rubber dam, etc. He also talks to you about supplements you should take (lots of vitamin C for instance) before and after--he understands that mercury is serious business and he doesn't screw around with it by taking chances with your health or his! I've had only one filling (of six) replaced so far (he works on one quadrant at a time), but so far so good! I go back in a couple of weeks for tooth number two. I'm looking forward to getting this crap out of my mouth, finally! (I asked my conventional dentist about it a couple of years ago and let her talk me out of it, since she said it's more dangerous to remove than just leave in.) This experience turned into a nightmare. I have never been afraid of dentists as I have generally had good experiences. I take very good care of my teeth, but for some reason, I suddenly needed two filler replacements and two onlays. This is the most amount of work I have ever needed. While I thought this was crazy, I went ahead with the replacements, because I was moving in 6 weeks to yet another city and my office trusted this dentist. The dentist did some of the work and then let his assistants work on my teeth. When I left I experienced quite a bit of pain. They told me to come back in for some adjustments. I was told I would be seeing a dentist. When I got there, the dentist said hello and then the assistant worked on my teeth. Again, I left and had pain. I was at the dental office every other day for a month trying to get "the adjustments" fixed so I wouldn't have pain. I have never had to get "adjustments". In my experience, dentists have gotten their work right the first time. My last experience was my final onlay. Again after the onlay was put in I had to get adjustments done cause I couldn't chew without pain. The assistant working on my tooth didn't numb me. She drilled away hitting a nerve. I screamed in pain and tears rolling down my cheeks. I kept telling her it hurt. She said, "I know. I am sorry. I am almost done." It took nearly 3 months for the nerve pain to go away from that tooth. Another tooth continues to bother me. The dentist told me he drilled close to the nerve. He then told me, in 3 months if I still have pain I will need a root canal. Well it has been 5 months. I still can't chew on the right side of my mouth. Why the "F" do I need a root canal after seeing this dentist. I didn't need one before! I didn't even have problems with my teeth before going to this dental office. This dental office also had the audacity to bill me once more after I moved. After they told me I had everything settled. Two months after I moved, they told me my insurance wouldn't cover EVERYTHING. Awesome.. since when I was there they told me my insurance company would pay up to this and this amount. I paid the hefty remaining balance. In any case, I am now in another city... still in pain with no dental insurance and deathly afraid to see another dentist (I didn't have a fear of dentists before). I never want to experience this kind of pain again, both physically and financially.

My business trip was combined with my college reunion, and these two gentlemen really helped me have a productive trip and enjoyable holiday. I found Dr. Schwartz himself to be a nice guy. Apparently he is an accomplished magician, which helps with the kids. His office, which is admittedly "lived in", has magic props and stuff displayed. I wouldn't ding him for the state of his premises; he's clearly an older guy nearing the end of his career, and a big remodel (cosmetic and/or technology) doesn't make sense. It was quaint and warm and kind of Mayberry, at least to me. Definitely recommend.
