UPDATE TO MY UPDATED REVIEW(S) - It's super disturbing to hear that the owner of College Vista agrees and sends me a personal message that somebody will reach out in regards to this matter with my father. As I mentioned, nobody from the administrative team reached out yet. Nobody cares from the facility and I can assure you that they will not care at all for your loved ones even when they're in the facility under their "care". I knew it - I knew that they would never call us . It just shows you their level of care. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.

I went to visit a family member today & was welcomed by a great friendly staff. The facility is quite large and very clean. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The staff creates a great atmosphere for the residents with their great energy. Definitely happy my family member is here, they are in great hands!

College Vista is a great place for rehabilitation! The staff is caring and professional. Janet- in the front office is such great help! The facility is beautiful and clean. Highly recommended for a loved one!

I loved the large nursing station & this cozy patio

I was at Glendale Adventist today visiting a friend when I heard about this Nursing Facility & decided to tour. The neighborhood it's in is very charming. The building itself is much bigger on the inside than it appears on the outside. The first thing that stood out to me was the cleanliness & pleasant smell. "Alyce" gave me a tour & introduced me to the Director of nursing and the Administrator as well as the rehab director. This staff is very attentive & the building is in great shape the floors look brand new. I've seen enough good things here to make me feel comfortable in having them care for my loved one. It's not too far from the freeway & It's still very close to Glendale Hospital.

OMG, I love the artwork here. I'm so honored to have helped choose some of the artwork.

I am so pleased to donate some of my personal photographic art to College Vista. I toured and loved talking to residents and staff who were amazed that I was the main photographer for the new art that was showcased. My visit really touched me when a resident, Flora, pulled me aside to give a complement of the staff and the Administrator Mike. She wanted to show me her room and her new furniture and TV she got last month. It was truly a rewarding visit, and I am so happy they chose some of my personal photography to use as artwork in the hallways.

When I toured this facility, I was truly impressed. The Director of Nursing gave me a thorough tour, answered all of my questions, was very friendly, and really shared her feeling that it was like one big family. There were no smells, the residents were up, and engaged in activities, and each staff member smiled at me. A great feeling when you walk in to a nursing home. I have toured many nursing homes and you can really get a sense of how they care of patients, with how they treat a stranger coming into the building. The staff was protective and stopped me, but pleasantly asked how they could help. If my mom were in this facility, I would want every visitor to be stopped before randomly entering. I felt like this was a safe and secure facility. I toured the rehab room and had many questions. Their director of physical therapy was very knowledgeable and actually sat down with me to answer various questions, some of which were not about rehab. She was patient and really seemed to know some of the best rehab techniques, and gave me some ideas todo with my own parents.

There was a sitting area near the front desk which was very inviting. I looked around and definitely liked what I saw. The staff appeared to be friendly and helpful towards me and especially towards the patients. There are different sections depending on what level of care the patient needed. There's a really nice looking chapel located on the grounds. In the memory area, it's a locked unit. When I opened the door, an alarm went off and the staff came right away. Perfect for wandering patients! The waiting area for this unit was also very nice. The eating areas were nicely done. There was a TV in the eating area in the memory unit. I noticed that the patients in the memory unit had scheduled activities which was great. The living quarters are so nicely done and personalized with the patients stuff. They have their own bathroom with safety features. I didn't notice any smells. The SNF area takes Medicare and other insurances. A definite must see if you are considering placing your loved one in a memory unit.

We decided she needed to move closer to me, and we recognized that we couldn't afford in-home care, so the search for an assisted living community began. Jason and two other placement specialists came highly recommended by Huntington Senior Care Network, but it quickly became clear that Jason's needs-first approach to placement and his impressive network of connections showed the most promise. He listened carefully to my mom's needs and found a place that balanced her considerable needs with more opportunities to socialize than your typical board and care. Within two week of my first call with Jason, my mom was preparing to move! Jason's support didn't stop there. He regularly checked in with me during the first few months of my mom's adjustment, advising me through the inevitable bumps that come with the transition to assisted living, validating my concerns, and guiding me to a place of candid conversation with my mom's new support team. We're nearly 3 months in now and my mom is thrilled with her care and her living arrangement. I can't thank Jason enough for the care, insight, and grace he so generously shared with us.

My mom, a fiercely independent woman all her life was recently diagnosed with dementia. Although…read moreshe had been exhibiting quirky signs for the past year or so, my family and I chalked it up to normal aging. In the past year her utilities and cable services were being turned off, but it wasn't until I received a call from apartment management that rent had not been paid that I suspected things were not as should be. Shortly after clearing up issue with rent we discovered mom was speaking with magazine issues as if real. I was completely clueless on steps needed to get help for my mom. I started googling agency's related to elder care and placement and contacted Connections Care Home Referral. I spoke with Jason Bloom who patiently listened to me and gave me the most important piece of information that helped me through this journey. Do you have a Power of attorney for mom? Obtaining that document opened the doors I needed to doctors, social worker, and banking. Once doctors became involved, tests were done and mom was officially diagnosed with progressive dementia. The doctors declared mom as not being competent to handle personal or financial affairs and I needed to find a suitable placement for her. Jason once again gave me the great advice on what type of placement mom, needed. I admit at first I was hesitant about a board/care facility I wanted mom to have a placement as close to living independently as possible, so I was leaning more towards Assisted Living facilities. I also was in process of learning about the disease and was ignorant of how much it robs you of the person you love. Jason was on point the progression of my mom's dementia was at stage where traditional Assisted Living would not have worked for her. Jason and I had many discussions over about a 60 day period, and he sent me lots of lists of possible placements and he always checked status of any contacts I may have made. As I went through this process I began to have a better idea of the type of home that I would want for mom. Jason said give him a couple of days to look for me. Within that timeframe Nina contacted me saying Jason referred her to me. After weeks of visiting different homes and facilities I knew within 15 minutes that her place was the board/care I was looking for. I can't express my gratitude to Jason and Connections Care Referrals for helping me through this process. He was able to take into account location and price points to find what my family and I would be comfortable with for mom.

My mother complained of UTI symptoms on day 2 and said the nurse told her the previous nurse was not cleaning her well and even showed her. I asked several times to get her checked for a UTI, I was told they would tell them doctor. Little did I know the doctor was on vacation and in the week that she was there she saw no doctor. Can you imagine a health care center with no doctor. I even took cranberry juice and asked them to keep giving it to her. No one did. Fast forward four days later she developed a horrible bladder infection that we caught before it reached her kidneys. If I hadn't gone in there to transfer her back to the hospital, she would have still been there waiting for a doctor with fever, low oxygen levels etc. The hospital told us that we caught it right in time and thankfully acted fast. She went in there healthy and came out with an infection that now is delaying her physical therapy and healing so she can get back on her feet. I knew I shouldn't have taken her here and I should have fought the insurance harder.
