I recently had the clutch begin to make noises so I had it towed to Hands on Auto Tech for a…read morediagnosis.. There was a problem with the communication surrounding the tow transfer so I started my experience with Hands on Auto Tech with some trepidation. Tom handled the situation and we moved onto the real problem with my truck. The diagnosis was the clutch so I approved the repair and waited a few days for the parts to arrive and the repair to proceed. After the clutch was replaced another problem with the operation of the clutch was discovered so I agreed to the additional repair and another day for repair. After a week I was reunited with my truck. The repair was costly, lengthy and unexpected but coming out the other side of this experience I learned a couple of lessons. 1. If you have your vehicle towed to a shop follow the tow truck to the shop and verify the transfer. 2. Communication and follow up throughout the repair are key Tom was great to deal with and I feel that he was honest with me about the repairs needed and the cost of those repairs. Having recently moved to the area I feel my vehicle maintenance and repair needs can be checked off the list. I can recommend Hands on Auto Tech to anyone needing an honest repair facility and Tom as a good guy to deal with.

This truck had belonged to my former landlord whereupon his daughter sold it to me as the old boy had gone to a retirement facility. In his later years maintenance and repairs had been let go but being sturdy and strong running, I bought it and am slowly bringing it up to snuff and it is good in the event I should need to do any long distance traveling with it. . Attended the new shop opening, located just off I-25 and Colorado route 66, where I met Mr. Maggio's family and some of the other customers who call Hands On Autotech their home for vehicle repair and servicing. I first went there based on the recommendation of the Martino troubleshooter show on 630 KHOW AM radio; 10 AM - 2PM, M-F. My opinion is that Tom's shop takes something of a scientific approach to vehicle repair and will go more in depth with an analyses than another shop I had been to for an issue with my '99 Tahoe. As an EV owner himself I gather that Tom is up on the current tech, perhaps more than some other places who would have men of my age (68) from the "dinosaur era" of automotive tech working at their shops.

PLUS, they did them for me within 24 hours! The couch is very comfortable again, suitable for this 6'2" guy to sit or sleep on. They even recommended a close-by shoe store where I could get some dye to touch up the assorted cracks and cat scratches it picked up over the years. I found some dye (by chance, because they were low on many colors) matched the leather color perfectly! On top of all that, the guys in the shop were just as pleasant as they could be. I first met Tracy when I brought my BMW Z4 convertible in (a 2-seater) for reupholstery. I showed…read moreher the car and the part of the driver's seat that was worn pretty badly. I explained that I wanted it to look like new and perfectly match. Tracy explained to me that even with the exact same leather that it couldn't be a perfect match because I'd have a mix of old leather and new leather. And so, I decided to reupholster both seats. Next, Tracy brought her husband in to look at the car and select the correct fabric. They went through a number of fabric books, then he ultimately pointed to one and said he thought that was the one. It didn't look quite grainy enough, but he or Tracy said something about it being a bad sample - it was a while ago and I don't recall exactly how this was stated. In retrospect, I should have demanded to see a full-size sample before moving forward so I could see for myself if it was a match. Instead, I trusted their judgement to proceed forward and scheduled a time to bring in my car. Next, I brought in my car at the scheduled time. Tracy called me later that morning to inform me that the wrong fabric had come in and it would take an extra couple of days for the correct fabric to come in. I agreed to leave my car for the extra time due to the mistake. Note that I paid for the rest of the balance over the phone prior to seeing the finished work. Next, I came in to pick up my car once it was ready. I immediately saw that the fabric was wrong and I immediately pointed this out to them. I informed them that I would need to think over what to do and talk it over with my girlfriend as well. The fabric was the correct color but the wrong grain. It was very obvious that it did not match the other leather in the car, including the head rests. I felt really bad for them since I knew they were going through some very difficult personal troubles over the past few months. But it should have been very obvious before they installed the leather that it was not a match - not even close. When I called back to inform them that I wasn't going to be able to accept the wrong fabric having pondered the situation, they made it sound like it was my fault, saying I was the one who picked out the leather to install. I was shocked and a bit speechless. I was not the expert. I made my expectations clear to Tracy at the beginning and went with their selection. I was open to paying *something* toward them fixing it and putting in the right fabric and asked them to send me full-size samples hoping we could negotiate some sort of compromise. When I got the samples none of them were a match. When I called Tracy, she said I was sent incorrect samples and I really couldn't understand her explanation fully as to what I did and didn't get sent. Apparently, some of the samples weren't even for a BMW. I asked her to check about sending me a match and she said she'd look into it. After over 2 weeks, I can tell nothing is coming and there is no good faith from them to do anything to correct this. Thus, I filed a dispute with my credit card company. I can't even remember the last time I've had to file a dispute when my credit card info wasn't stolen - might have been 7 years or so ago. If the credit card dispute fails, I'll have to decide whether or not to pursue the matter in small claims court. What a mess. Wish I had just kept the original fabric and never went through any of this.

The shop diagnosed a solenoid block failure, along with leaks, and performed repairs costing over $3,000. Immediately after the repair, my vehicle exhibited new issues, including grinding sensations and heavy idling, which were NOT present before. Concerned, I called AAMCO on January 14, 2025, at 4:39 PM MST, reporting these issues and requesting an inspection under warranty. Your representative dismissed my concerns, suggesting it was the catalytic converter, and told me to call back if further problems occurred. I was not advised to stop driving or bring the vehicle in for an inspection. Shortly after, my transmission failed completely, and AAMCO is now demanding $5,238.64 for a transmission rebuild, despite failing to fix the issue in the first place.

My only wish is that his location was closer to my house, and that he was open on weekends, but that won't stop me from going. Next he will see my Veloster for a seat heater diagnostic. I have been to Tune Tech twice. The first time for an issue with my cars remote start, then for a low beam bulb. Both times Tune Tech fixed the problem in a timely, professional, and affordable manner. They even checked all of my lights, finding I had 3 bulbs out, not just one. I was glad I took it to them considering I'd taken my car for an oil change a week earlier to a different company who never mentioned that I had any lights out. Last, but not least, Ken, the owner, is very pleasant to work with.
