In the past Arthur did great work, however he no longer stands behind his service. My seat was repaired but then the material used started to crack and peel. It was 1 month past the warranty period and he refused to repair it for a reduced price. The original material lasted 10 years, the new lets than 13 months. Do not get your work done here. read more

Just bought my dream car, 1995 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, in perfect shape except the back window on the convertible top had a couple gaps. Took it in, Arthur suggested we just put in a new top since mine was 30 years old, and assured me it would look great. Went ahead and ordered it that day. The company he uses custom makes the tops to perfect specs from South Carolina. Arrived in 2 weeks. Arthur said it would probably take 2-3 days to 8nstalk, but to my pleasant surprise, it only took a day and a half. Looks perfect. I stopped here in November of 2022 to see if they could make a boat cover. I was told they could and brought my boat down for them measure and make a cover. I was quoted $1200 and gave the okay for them to make the cover. A few days later they called and needed to order more fabric because they measured incorrectly at the time of the quote. it was going to cost an extra $250 for the additional fabric. I agreed understanding mistakes happen. We just came back from only our second trip with the boat (July 2024) since the cover was made, the cover shredded in the back on the way out rendering it useless. They won't repair it under warranty. Just over 18 months old and they can fix it for another $500. I was not impressed by the cover from the beginning, definitely not investing more money in it. I can't speak for their other services but for boat covers or a decent warranty I would shop elsewhere. read more

I took my vehicle in to have the seat corrected from a prior owner that broke down the driver side of the seat. They needed to add foam to fill in the depression reupholster the leading and replace the decaying vinyl on the lower section of the same area. I picked it up and explained the foam had not been replace and there where water marks on the leather. His response was bring it is and I will look at it. He charged me an additional amount to place foam that had not been done in the first place and conditioned the leather which did nothing to the water marking. I called again just last week December 9th or 10th after being asked to bring it in a 3rd time, so he could look at it and admitted it was not done properly and that he "would make make it right." He scheduled it back 12/13 and what number should he call me I stated please call me at work and gave him that to call. Took it back this morning, I finally called at 2:34 asked if the car was ready he said yes and would I be here by 4:30? He had called my home number at 1:37, I was at work (found the message when I arrive home at 5:00). was Got there at 3: 48 he asked if the seat was alright I stated that I would not know by looking at it. Left the lot and the air bag light was on so had to go back so they could reset it. Long story short the seat is still not right I'm out an additional $80.00 taxi fare for 3 times back and forth in addition to what I paid for a job that should have been done correctly the first time. Absolutely no quality control and pride in workmanship to let a car go out the door with such abandonment. Be prepared for high price for at best a poor job and no apologizes! I took my car in to have some interior work done. When I picked it up it was snowing, very slushy. Two days later the weather was good so I decided to wash the car. As I washed the car I noticed a dent. Just small one but a dent none the less. I had just bought the car and inspected it very closely. No dent. Arthur, the owner swore up and down that it did not happen in his shop. He toke the stance that since that it did not happen in his shop he would not consider covering repair costs. Stopped in here today to get an estimate on a torn leather seat. I park in their lot, and walk inside the big garage door where it instructs customers to enter, as there is a sign stating this. 3 guys working on cars, all look up at me and then proceed back to work. One guy comes in from the parking lot and walks right past me, not so much as a hello or can I help you? I wander into a smaller section that looks like it's an office, same thing, the guy looks up and looks away. Now at this point I'm thinking clearly they dont need the business to be so blatantly rude. I walk out to my car, 2 guys watch, still no engagement. I would never give this place a dime, and by the looks of the disorganized work space, wouldn't let them work on my car either. Left my car with them for a week, the seat repair was good. But they promised me my car would be safe at their facility for the week and now I have to replace my rear bumper and tail light along with having my trunk lid also painted and my 3k exhaust from japan hopefully bent back into place. When I confronted the owner about it, he stated he thought the car already had the damage on it and blew me off! I wont be bringing anything back here and I recommend if you have anything of value that isn't upholstery, to not leave it in their hands. they're clearly careless and disorganized. I had recently installed Katzkin leather seat covers into my Gen 4 Subaru Outback. The only thing I was having trouble with was getting the headrest covers slipped over the factory headrests. Doing some investigation on youtube, most shops have a vacuum system to shrink the foam headrests and then they slip the new covers on. I decided to call around and see what shops in the area would charge for the help. Author is the manager here at Auto Trim Specialists. It's a family business (father is the owner) and they've been in this location for 46 years. He took a look at my headrests, quoted out 2 hours of labor at $60/hr. I told him I was planning on leaving town the next day and he said he'd have them completed the same afternoon. I got a call a few hours later and went down to pick them up. $125 out the door was what I paid to have my headrest covers put on. It's a disproportionate amount of a typically $300-$400 total job (usual cost for installing the full set) but I was happy for it to no longer be a problem. The interior of the shop is a bit of a disaster zone with 4-5 people working on separate projects and cars. I was told they do boat and furniture upholstery as well. read more

I tried to be brief with the review but my one star rating needs to be substantiated. Here it goes... Bottom line, don't go to this shop with any confidence that they will be through or fair to their customers. I scheduled to have my headliner in my VW replaced about a month ago. My point of contact for the job from start to finish was a man named Arthur who I believe is the scheduler/manager. He assured me that my make/model was one that he had replaced many times and it was common for that vehicle to have this issue. He quoted me what I thought was a very fair price on the phone (about a 1/4 of what VW would charge for the same job). Auto Trim Specialists also came highly recommended from the director of an transportation museum here in town who I met through work. Everything seemed to be legit. Arthur contacted me during the job to tell me they needed to remove my windshield to remove the headliner substrate in order to put new fabric on it. To remove and replace the windshield would be an extra $100 on top of the quoted cost. I still don't understand why my very common vehicle was different than others he'd done the same job on but reluctantly agreed to pay the additional fee. Later, Arthur called back to tell me there was a "chip" in my windshield and the third party glass installer wanted to know if I wanted to replace it. I said no. Arthur didn't bat an eye and said thank you, your car will be ready for pick up later today (Friday, Sept. 15th). As I have a full time job, I could not pick up the car till after their business hours. When I arrived, I first noticed that pieces of the plastic housing for my dome lights, speakers, sunglasses holder was hanging from the headliner, not installed correctly. Then, I noticed that my windshield had a 12" long crack in it that wasn't there when I dropped off the car several days earlier. I called the Auto Trim main number only to get a message that they did not set up their voicemail. Monday morning comes around and I call Arthur. I first mention the plastic pieces and he assures me that they'll take care of fixing it. When I mention the new crack, Arthur becomes defensive and slightly aggressive and constantly interrupts me on the phone. He claims that the crack was there when I dropped off the car. False. He then tells me that due to sitting in the sun, the chip became a crack when sitting there. My car has sat every day for nine plus years outside, facing south and no chip has ever turned into a crack. I asked if it was just simple coincidence that it happened the morning that I dropped of the car and he said, "Could be". The conversation degraded to the point that it wasn't worth talking any longer except to schedule the repairs that he agreed to fix. He was able to get me in a week later. I arrived to have the repairs made. Arthur's body language seemed like he knew he was at fault and he was very brief with me. He gave me the contact person for the glass replacement that he has worked with for many years. They, a large well know auto glass company, mentioned that they instruct Arthur to tell his customers that if there are chips close to the perimeter of a windshield that it is likely to become a crack. Arthur failed to mention that to me. if he had, I would have asked to replace the windshield if it did in fact crack. After the return trip to the shop to have everything finalized, I noticed that not all of what they had broken or not repaired correctly was fixed. Several of my lights/controls do not work that had previously and parts were clearly super glued back into place that need to open up for future repairs. It was a sloppy job unsurprisingly. As I do not have windshield replacement on my insurance policy, I was stuck with the cost for a new windshield. The installer did give me a credit for the $100 spent initially which took some sting out of it but I had to cover the glass itself. If for some reason you are reading this Arthur and would like to reimburse me for that cost, I'll take down or revise this review. All in all, Auto Trim Specialists is not a shop I'd recommend. They will not review their work prior to delivering your vehicle back to you and if there are issues, they may or may not take care of their mistakes. You could be left with a sub-par repair, additional costs, and added time to the scheduled repair. read more

I took my MDX into Auto Trim Specialist to see if they could fix my center counsel as the covers had shrunk and it just looked bad. I also had just purchased some expensive sheepskin seat covers to cover some aging leather seats. I tried to put them on myself until I found that Acura has a cover behind the seats that block the separation. So not wanting to screw with it! I took them in too have them put them on. They did a great job matching the counsel color, and the seat covers dont slide around. The cost was not cheap, but the work was A plus. I took my car in to have a pre-cut carpet kit installed. I asked them to make sure to use the provided snaps on the transmission tunnel instead of glue, as there are access ports under the carpet there. When I got the car home, I found that they had used glue instead of the snaps. Even worse, when I started investigating further, I found that they had installed the back transmission tunnel piece in the wrong orientation and had cut it to make it fit. It had clear cut outs and holes, yet somehow they ignored them and decided to cut the holes themselves. I even gave them the instructions with a diagram showing the correct orientation of each piece and specific instructions of how to install it. They ignored all of this. Fortunately, I had decided to use rubber floor mats in the front instead of the carpet ones, so I was able to give them those and they fashioned a new piece from it. In the end, they made it right, and the installation looks good, but I certainly won't be going back there. I just can't see how to trust them to do something correctly when they ignore clear instructions, both written and verbal. read more

I stopped in here for a quote on a tear in my seat. It was the size of a quarter and there was some scuffing around it to. So overall area that needed to be cut out and replaced was 6inches by 6inches. Then some foam would need repaired. They wanted over $400!!! Its a dodge neon. Regular half vinyl half cloth seats. Seriously do your research for elsewhere. I have not chosen a place yet, but other shops have quoted me $125. read more

Work in the auto industry. Was recommended that this place was the shop to go to for head liners. Called for a quote on a MB E350. Was quoted 350 for the head liner. Was told that they could do the headliner without pulling the back glass out of the car. Other shops had quoted me 250 to do the headliner but I would need to spend 100 to have a glass guy pull the back glass out of the car to get the headliner out of the car. The following week I had the car towed to them. Upon arrival I get a call that they don't have the type of fabric that my MB has and the color will be off unless I have them buy a fabric more close to the color in the car and it going to cost 500 to do the headliner. Talk them back to the 350 but I have to pay for the fabric and the shipping on top of the 350 for the labor. The following day I get a call that I need to spend another 100 to remove the glass because they can't get the headliner board out of the car. The entire point of them getting the car was that I don't have to pull the glass out. Go round and round with them. Finally told them to stop working and I will take it to someone else. He wants 200 for him to put it back together. The car was already partially taken apart there wasn't more then a 1 hour of work to do to get the headliner out of the car. Showed up to pick up the car and they decided to charge me just 100 for the " 3 hrs" of labor. I find a bag of parts in my back seat and some of the parts are now broken. I can only guess how hard it's going to be to get them to buy expensive MB parts. Don't use these guys !!!! read more

The couch my husband and I were assured was part leather materials was nothing close to matching its description. The middle section of our large couch began peeling. We all loved the couch, but flakes of material kept coming off at an alarming rate. Auto Trim Specialists were very inviting into a garage/workroom space immediately upon our entrance and directed us to the office. The office staff were clearly all family and friendly but very efficient. We had hundreds of choices of fabric and they matched it as close as I could imagine. They took a deposit of almost 50% and even gave us the total ahead with all labor/tax and if necessary shipping included. They were done a day ahead of time and did an excellent job. I am recommending them to literally everyone. The classic sports cars in the shop are really fun to watch getting all new interiors too. read more

I needed some custom covers sewn for a couple keyboard stands for live stage use. I called this place because I live very near and drive by it all the time. It's within walking distance from my home. I explained the project to the guy on the phone. My fabric needs were pretty specific and they were honest and upfront about not thinking the fabric they carry would be right. He then told me that I could get my own fabric and they would be happy to sew it for me. That alone is pretty impressive. Most places are so anxious to squeeze every dollar they can that they would just push their own materials on you whether it was the best choice or not. Anyway, so I went and found some good fabric at the fabric store and showed up a few days later (on a Wed). I explained the design, he quoted me the same price that he did on the phone and let me know that they had gotten busy and it might not be done by the end of the week but that it would be done by early the following week for sure. I left the materials with them and went home. He called me that same afternoon to tell me they were completed! This tells me a lot as well. They do not seek to over-promise (and thus risk under-delivering) like so many other custom shops do. They would rather give you a longer estimate and risk losing your business during the estimate phase and then exceed your expectations in final product delivery. More businesses should operate this way. Finally, the work itself exceeded my own expectations. This was a custom ask that was related in no way to the normal kind of work that they do. And they knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend these guys! read more

Auto Trim Specialist performed the work of repairing a leather in our seat of car. When we dropped off the car we locked our car. We saw the manager come out and unlock the car and did not re-lock the car. We realized that we had left three sacks we were going to return to retail stores, we called the manager to keep the car locked or place into the trunk. When my wife picked up the vehicle and paid the bill and began driving home she felt behind her to find only two packages on the floor of our car. She was upset and we checked in the car upon arrival in the garage and found only two sacks one was missing. We checked at home no sack to Best Buy. This place may not be pretty, no lounge and free coffee, but the output and service was spectacular. My 10 year old FJ CRUISER had a hole worn in the driver's seat where the air bag frame came close to the surface. It looked kinda tattered and I thought I would go get an iron-on patch or something. But I am selling the car after being the only owner - and I wanted it to look nice. I read some reviews and gave Rudy a call. Came to the shop an hour later, got a reasonable estimate, and left the car. The next morning I picked it up and could not be more pleased. The new panel is a perfect match. The incompetence of this shop is mind boggling. They told me to order the wrong parts for my convertible top. Then threw the package away So I couldn't send it back. Then they almost set my car in fire. They ruined a brand new optima battery that was two weeks old and cost $279. They stole a spare top that I had let them use for a pattern to make the new one. They put three dents in a brand new freshly painted hood. They sprayed glue all over the outside of the car. There were metal shavings all over the inside of the car. They didn't notice the convertible top frame was no good. They didn't adjust the tension cable for the top. The staples that hold the top on came out when I was trailering it home and the top came off the car. And there were staples sticking out of the top off the convertible top. I took the car to auto weave to have them fix the top. Auto weave did an amazing job. read more

Took my classic car in for a new convertible top. I wanted to keep everything the same as original, Arthur Gonzales said they would do a top quality job. When I went to drop off the car I asked to see the replacement top. Arthur was very short and did not let me see the top even though I told him I was concerned about the color. The next day Arthur told me the top they had ordered was a different color... But he has already ripped off the original top and thrown it away! He won't give me a refund for the incorrect top he ordered! Now I have a car with no top and I haven't got my money back... Terrible service! Own up to your mistakes and make it right!
