I am so thankful Lisa did my fiancé and my engagement photos. I was nervous leading up to taking engagement photos, thinking I wouldn't be able to look natural or that it might be awkward. But it was completely Lisa who made us feel so comfortable that looking natural came easy. Not only do we adore our photos, but we actually had a lot of fun taking the photos as well! Lisa had emailed me a few locations she had scouted, depending on the mood/look we wanted. I love that she put so much thought into it, and it made it that much more personal. When we were shooting, she was so much fun with her directing and commenting "so romantic!!" It made us laugh and feel at ease. We didn't have much of a budget (well none really) for printing, but Lisa made us feel so special and our CD was beautifully wrapped and hand-made and so lovely. She even did a few extra artistic photos on our CD which are gorgeous. Lisa is so talented. She is the photographer you want if you want to feel like yourself, and look like a natural. Lisa was a dream to work with. We met over Skype and she was very accommodating with out long distance circumstances. Lisa was our photographer for our small, intimate summer wedding in El Dorado Hills this July. She was fantastic! We met with her the first time via Skype to give her some insight on our wedding plans, what we wanted, etc. From that moment on Lisa was so organized and clear on what to expect and what she needed from us. Communication with her was a breeze and she answered any questions we had along the way. On the day of our wedding, she was on time in great spirits and so helpful with the photography aspect of our day. As a bride, there was very little I had to do which was a relief. I could not be happier with the experiences I have had thus far with Lisa from Elisabeth Arin Photography. When my fiance and I got engaged I really felt that selecting a photographer was one of the most important components of planning the wedding. I am a very visual person and really want to preserve lasting memories of these special moments in a way that would capture the emotions and beauty of the occasion. Our wedding is going to be next June, but we were able to schedule an engagement shoot with Lisa last month and I was so impressed with her that I couldn't wait to write a review. Here are the reasons that I am really excited that Lisa will be the one shooting our wedding: 1. Communication: From my first inquiry Lisa has always responded quickly and clearly to any questions I have had and has gone over and above to provide us with helpful information (sharing a pinterest board of outfit suggestions). She also has wanted to get a sense of who my fiance and I are and has worked to try to find ways of personalizing our photos (finding settings to shoot our engagement that fit with our interests). 2. Puts you at Ease: My fiance was not excited about the photography component of this whole getting married thing. We had done a photo shoot together once before and he hated it - said he felt totally uncomfortable. Our experience on the engagement shoot with Lisa was totally different for him. He stated afterwards, "that wasn't so bad...actually it was kind of fun and she was really nice." He even went on to say that maybe spending some time taking photos at the wedding would not be so bad after all! 3. Beautiful Work: The photos we got back from Lisa are just gorgeous! I really couldn't imagine better images that really capture our love for each other and are very flattering. Her composition is artistic and romantic. I just LOVE the pictures! Also, as a side note, the CD of images she sent us of the engagement shoot was personalized with a photo of us and packaged in a beautiful way. It was so exciting to open up that package! 4. Timely: Not only is Lisa timely in responding to emails and other communications, but she also is very timely with getting photos edited and to you. She told us that she posts sneak peak images on facebook within a few days and would have the shoot edited within 2 weeks. Her timing was exactly as she had stated and as soon as she posted the edited images she mailed off a copy of all of our edited images to us - which we now own the rights to according to her contract. I have worked with a number of photographers and often timeliness is my biggest complaint, but Lisa was perfect! 5. Financially Reasonable: My fiance and I are on a bit of a tight budget, and though photography is important to me, we just couldn't spend a fortune on it. I looked at a lot of the photographers in the area and I found Elisabeth Arin Photography to be reasonably priced with no loss in quality of what you get. When you are planning a wedding, so many people advise you to get a good photographer, but I kept thinking, what does that even mean?! How will I know if they're good or whether they would be easy to work with? I started my search by looking at local photographers' blogs to select the ones who photographed with a style I was drawn to - soft, romantic, natural, whimsical. Then I contacted a few and set up some meetings. As soon as my fiancé and I sat down with Lisa, the whole time I kept thinking, 'She's the one, please say yes!' And we were lucky she did! Upon meeting, Lisa was super sweet and friendly, but more importantly she was organized, experienced, and knew exactly what to ask to get the info she needed to plan the photography timeline. She brought her portfolio and samples of albums and books she makes, and everything was stunning! So we hired her immediately to do our engagement shoot and wedding photography. There's nothing more awkward then kissing in front of the camera or being asked to "pose naturally" - such an oxymoron. And the engagement shoot was definitely a struggle for us because it was our first time doing something like that. But Lisa has a way with direction that makes you feel comfortable and she has great suggestions for poses (she even tells you nicely if your pose isn't working for you!). She incorporates colors, textures, background, every little detail of the landscape, and ends up producing magical photos. And let me tell you, taking engagement photos was extremely good practice for us, because on the wedding day, we felt like we were pros! No more awkwardness or uncertainty, and this really helped moved things along on the wedding day. Before the wedding, Lisa sends you a very detailed photography questionnaire and helps you work on your day-of photography timeline. And she sticks to it, which is so important because you don't want to lose too much time taking photos that you miss spending time with your family and friends. She really did help us pull off every picture we wanted (including all the family and group photos) and all of the events of the day went flawlessly. And as for the photos, I couldn't be happier. We had such a range of gorgeous pictures - posed shots, candid shots, details of the venue and decoration, behind the scenes shots, the dance floor, everything. She literally captured every moment in beautiful photographs that will last forever. She's very professional and easy to work with and she's great at giving directions while maintaining her friendliness. Assertive, but in a nice way. She brought a second shooter to the event and together they covered everything. As far as communication, Lisa is very timely in her responsiveness and explains everything clearly so you know exactly what to expect. We really enjoyed working with Lisa and you will too! She photographed our Engagement photos and most recently after my son was born, Lisa was able to do our newborn photo session. As some of you may know newborns are not the easiest of subjects. We worked with Lisa for our engagement photos in Dec 2018 and our wedding in May 2019 and they turned out PERFECT for both occasions (in my humble opinion)! She met with us advance of the engagement photos so we could learn about each other which was great because it made us that much more comfortable cozying up in front of her. The engagement photos were also great practice for the wedding day. There is a LOT going on that day and we knew exactly what it would be like being photographed by her. Not only did she travel to the venue, which was about an hour from Sac, she was also super sweet and made all our guests feel comfortable being photographed as well. I gave her so many changes to our wedding day timeline and she was always super flexible. I never felt like there was a camera awkwardly all up in my face, but somehow she and her partner managed to capture every moment and every special detail. She was also super patient photographing us with our spaz of a dog Charlie, as well as a riled up donkey the day of =D I'm so glad she took the time to capture us with both of the fur babies as they are some of my favorite pics!! It is obvious she loves what she does and would do anything to ensure we were extremely happy with the photos in the end.... and we were!! Michael and I were married an April 6th, 2014, which just happens to be my birthday ;). We staged a surprise wedding to accompany the announcement that we were moving out of the country. We had been talking to Lisa about doing our more "traditional" style wedding sometime down the road and when things changed....so did she. I think that one of the most important things about Lisa, beyond the fact that she is an amazing photographer, is that her personality is very well suited to her line of work. She is very soft spoken and moves around relatively unnoticed. I found this to be a great plus in a very small backyard wedding. I have been at weddings with teams of photographers and well, we wanted pictures but not at the expense of it seeming like our whole wedding was a photo shoot. On the other hand Lisa is very good at directing people, especially children, and has a knack for getting people to listen and pay attention to move things along. I think her photography speaks for itself but I do think it is funny that she literally took the space where we generally store our garbage cans and made it into the perfect backdrop for our family photos. My dad is still laughing about it! But it really was a great spot given the light and foliage. I guess with that I am trying to say. Trust her instincts. She has a great eye and will not disappoint. Once when my daughter was 16 months and again when I was 8 months pregnant with our son. Lisa is so patient and is great with our daughter.
