It gave us the perfect balance of convenience and personalization. We were fortunate to have Andrea as our photographer, Hai as our videographer, DJ Tri as our DJ and MC, and Brad as our officiant--and every single one of them exceeded our expectations. Andrea was absolutely amazing to work with. She was creative, patient, made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, captured every meaningful moment so naturally, and was always one step ahead in anticipating the perfect shot. Our wedding photos turned out so beautifully and brings us to happy tears. We cannot wait to cherish these photos for the rest of our lives. Hai did an incredible job capturing the details, emotions and special moments throughout our day. He was extremely professional, creative, knew how to get the best footage/lighting, and somehow managed to document everything without ever feeling intrusive. DJ Tri completely understood the vibe we wanted for our wedding. We hired a string quartet for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and DJ Tri provided his own sound system in order to amplify their music. For the reception, he kept the energy exactly where it needed to be, and transitioned the music we requested so well throughout the evening (from island reggae, to country music, to hip hop). He also kept the timeline running smoothly and made every transition feel seamless. Brad was the perfect officiant for our wedding. He delivered a meaningful ceremony that felt personal, genuine, and truly reflected us as a couple. We received so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the ceremony was. Recently I had some newborn photos done by Julia Bender Photography. I knew I was going to choose…read moreher for these photos since mid-pregnancy. Julie comes to your home (or location I suppose) and shoots real people using "natural light". You look like you, but softer and nicer. There's nothing gimmicky or staged about her work and after looking at a million photos on Pinterest, I decided that's exactly what I wanted. You can get cheaper shots done at JCP or the like, but people always look a little pastey and you only have a 15 minute window, so you'd better hope your little one isn't crying (for all new moms out there-- that's all infants do). You can also get much pricer photographers, if you're a Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes kind of couple and that's important to you. But I figure, kids change fast and I'll need her to do this annually. For that kind of budget, she's the right pick. It was easy enough to get ahold of her to book the appointment and she was flexible with her dates and times. Fast forward to day of: the little rascal was a crying mess, but Julia wasn't fazed, she was willing to stay as long as it took to get the photos we wanted. Admittedly, baby, husband and I were tired before she was...I probably should have waited until he was a few weeks older to do this. Nevertheless, we shot in different rooms of the house and I didn't feel rushed at all. You can choose a sitting fee (which is comparable to professional photographer' stuido fees, but less than their "on site" fees) and then buy photos a la carte (which is what I did) or you can purchase packages where you will own the rights to the digital prints (prolific facebookers will love these options). Also, I saved 10% for paying the sitting fee in cash. I used it toward the purchase of prints. Full disclosure: I know Julia's husband through work circles and that's how I discovered her work.

I wasn't able to build a connection with the person who would actually be photographing our wedding until just before the event. I eventually reached out to Jaylynn myself so we could go over the timeline and discuss expectations. On the wedding day, Jaylynn was kind and helpful while I was getting ready. She even assisted my bridesmaids with making sure my dress was laying properly, which I appreciated. However, I was surprised that no "getting dressed" photos were taken, as those are moments many couples expect to have documented. Throughout the day, she often asked, "What's next?" which gave me the impression that she wasn't fully familiar with our timeline or directing the flow of the day. The poses and shots also felt fairly standard, and the sample shot list the company provided wasn't followed very closely. Jacob, our videographer, was professional and quietly captured moments throughout the day without being intrusive. At the time of writing this review, we have not yet received our final gallery. I'm sincerely hoping I'm completely wrong about my initial impressions and that the finished photos leave me speechless.
