I just went to elite alterations to see if I could have a strap shorten on my daughter's dress that she needs by next Saturday. The way that these people greet you you automatically feel as if you've committed a crime by entering their facility. They're not nice. They're not personable. They got these snarls on their faces as if your presence is just not wanted in there store. I would never return. read more

They have done several items for me but I took my daughter prom dress for her to make the dress shorter since it was too long. She did an excellent job! I thought the pay was fine bc heck I couldn't do it, it was a prom dress that was not simple and I rather pay for quality then pay a lower price but not know the quality. read more

Fast, great communication and reasonable price. I didn't need much done to my wedding gown but they had it done earlier then expected and they even gave me some tips and tricks on how to pack it to take with me on a flight. The place was clean and organized unlike the first place I took my dress to get a quote on the same alterations. I was charged 40 dollars to take about an inch off of a maxi dress. After the owner realized I was displeased she gave me a new price of 35 dollars and blamed it on the width of the dress and inflation. I have used her before but today was the last time I will use her. High way robbery and a poor excuse for charging so much. Maybe she took into consideration that I purchased the dress from an overseas site but nonetheless 35 dollars is absurd to hem a simple dress. Update: this lady called me constantly yesterday until she finally got me on the phone and asked me to pick up my dress and she will refund my money (of course after seeing my review). She wanted me to remove my review and stated she has never had a bad review. She even called me a liar and mean. Needless to say when I went in this morning to get my dress, she started a huge argument with me, yelled and over talked me. She is very unprofessional and rude I even explained to her that I did not want to argue with her and to please stop talking to me but she did not until a client came in and she still did not shut her pie hole up until a few minutes later. I reached for my paid ticket, she snatched it from me and would not allow me to look at it. Thankfully, I was able to find another seamstress in the area (who will hem my dress for less than 35$) who is reputable and respects their customers. I am new to Columbia and had used her in the past. However, I will never visit this place ever again. She is a horrible person and lack customer service skills. We took my daughters wedding dress for alterations. Got it back and alterations were fantastic BUT dress has several stains on front and side of dress. The front stains had liquid marks as if they "tried to doctor it ". Lady denied and said stains were present upon arrival and then man - ladies husband I think said "the stains were there , have a nice day". They offered to have dress cleaned but we took it and will have it cleaned ourselves. Even though they denied the stains they did not make me pay balance . Do not go here!! read more

I've been going to Elite Alterations for years. The owner is EXTREMELY busy because she does good work, so make sure you take your items in way before you need them. (word to the wise). She is super sweet and my husband and I never have a complaint. She's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Highly recommened. read more

Please, whatever you do, do not take your wedding dress (or anything of importance/value) here. I took my wedding dress here because of the other Yelp reviews saying how her work was excellent, quick, and reasonably priced. That is anything but the truth. When I arrived I was ushered into a dressing room and then my dress was pinned (as is normal with any other seamstress). I needed the shoulders taken in, the length hemmed, and a one-button bustle put on. She said the price would be $160 and it would be ready in 3 weeks. 3 weeks later she calls and says my dress needs to be picked up so I make a trip to pick it up. When I arrived she immediately greeted me and informed me that the last time I was in the store she forgot to tell me that the bustle would be an additional $50 because she was too busy to add it to the total the first time. My new total would be $210. When I asked her about it she became irate, threw my dress at me, and told me to leave her store. This happened literally over a 3 minute span of time. In shock, I took my dress and left. When I arrived home I tried on my dress...it was TWO INCHES TOO SHORT. She has mis-hemmed the dress so that it no longer touched the floor!! So my dress not only didn't have a bustle, but was too short, and I had paid her $160. She had kept saying how reasonably priced she was, but that was false! I ended up driving to Marion, SC to have a seamstress reconstruct my dress to make it meet the floor again and add a three-button bustle. (Which totaled $57) I'm sure if you need someone to do basic hemming then she would suffice, but there are cheaper and better in Columbia. read more

I took my wedding dress to Elite Alterations about 3 months before my wedding. I didn't trust just anyone with my dress but my mother in law had her dress altered there and had good things to say. Unfortunately I can't remember the nice lady's name but she did a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier. She was so sweet and really wanted to make sure I was totally happy with my dress. She is a perfectionist and works very hard. My dress had to be taken in on the sides and shortened. She also sewed in bra pads and a bustle. The total cost was around $300. It took a month to complete my dress and it was ready when she promised. Great work and I would go to her again. read more

Did a good job on my wedding dress. Took it down a size. Make sure that you drop it off at least 2 months before your bridal photo shoot as the lady doing the work is always busy. Pricing was a lot higher than expected for what I needed. Paid $180 to have it taken in. read more

Dropped off my Army dress blue jacket to get some stuff sewn on and was told it would be a few days. Found out I had to wear it two days later so I went back and asked if they could put a rush on it. She had it done the next day and didn't even charge me extra! Her and her daughter were both very friendly, I will definitely be going back! Prices were very reasonable as well. read more

This is one of the best alteration shops I have ever been to! The owner is so kind and performed a literal MIRACLE for me. I had a bridesmaid dress that came in 2 sizes too small, and because the bride signed a contract the bridal shop could not fix it for me, so I had no choice but to get it let out. This is by far the best alteration place in Columbia! I had taken several bridesmaids dresses to another seamstress in columbia over the past few years and was never really satisfied.. ( the work was just okay, very over priced even though I had only needed the dresses hemmed and worst of all the seamstress was not very friendly and finally after being treated like I was a burden for bringing a dress in that just needed to be hemmed with only 10 days until I needed it I decided never to bring my business there again). Needless to say I was having A LOT of anxiety about bringing my bridesmaid dress somewhere that was several inches too small AND I needed in 8 days. The seamstress at Elite Alterations was so kind and reassuring and put me at ease about it! She even fit me in for a fitting between the time I dropped it off and picked it up to ensure a perfect fit. The work was also amazing! I really think she is a miracle worker !! (Another bridesmaid that needed her dress let out ended up in tears the day of the wedding because her dress fit so poorly and had been altered to a backless corset that was too revealing.)
