My technician "Kat"was about 15 minutes late for my fill and pedicure appointment. Once she started, the work felt rushed. Every nail ended up a different length, and although I requested square nails, some corners were square while others were rounded. The acrylic fill was uneven, especially around the cuticles, and several nails looked lopsided. To save time, I was placed in the pedicure chair to soak while my technician finished my nails because she already had another client waiting. That made me feel like I was being rushed through my appointment instead of receiving the service I paid for. Before I left, I told my technician I wasn't happy that the nails were different lengths and shapes. She did offer to have me come back to redo them, but I was flying out of the country the following day, so that wasn't an option. Initially, I considered returning later to give them another chance, but after thinking it over, I decided I'd rather find a salon that takes more pride in its work. I paid $130 for my services. The photos I'm posting were taken about two weeks later, so there is some growth, but you can still clearly see the inconsistent shapes and the uneven fill around the cuticles. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect consistency, attention to detail, and workmanship that reflects the price being charged. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

The billing experience was even worse. At checkout, I asked for my $78 haircut to be totaled at $100 (a $22 tip). Instead, a $100 tip was added -- bringing the total to $178, which is a 128% tip. This was done without any confirmation or verification on their end. I didn't realize the mistake until I checked my receipt days later, and the amount was so unreasonable that it felt dishonest. When I contacted the owner, Julie Campbell, I was told that a $78 refund had been issued. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the error. Because of the service issues and the incorrect charge, I cannot recommend this salon. Double-check your receipt before leaving.

I had lip blush done about 3-4 years ago by someone else, and it was honestly a horrible experience. Over the last few months, I kept asking Anna if it was really supposed to hurt that much or if I had just gone to someone who didn't know what they were doing. Like any PMU procedure, it's never going to be completely comfortable, but it also shouldn't make you want to quit halfway through which is exactly how I felt the first time, and I have an abnormally high pain tolerance. Anna reassured me that it really shouldn't be that painful, and she was absolutely right. I'm not trying to knock another small business, but the difference was truly night and day. The first pass has to be done before numbing, so naturally that's the most uncomfortable part. After that, Anna reapplied numbing cream multiple times throughout the appointment, and honestly, all I could feel was the vibration of the machine. One thing I really admire about Anna is that she's constantly learning and testing new products to give her clients the best possible experience. She actually tried two different numbing creams during my appointment to compare them. The first worked ok, but the second was hands down the best numbing I've ever experienced. When I told her, she immediately thanked me for the feedback and said she'd be switching to that one going forward. That's the kind of dedication she has, she genuinely cares about making every appointment as comfortable as possible. The appointment itself is about three hours, but the time absolutely flies. Anna is so easy to talk to, has a great sense of humor, and somehow makes the whole experience feel effortless. One thing I love most is that opening her own storefront hasn't changed her at all. She's poured her heart and soul into building her business, yet she's still the same humble, kind, and genuinely grateful person she was before. She's the definition of a girl's girl. For anyone curious, we created a custom color by mixing Brownie Pink and Choco Mauve to get a more neutral brown-toned lip. We tested several combinations on my hand until we found the perfect shade, and I really appreciated how patient she was. She wanted to make sure the color was exactly what I envisioned before we even started. I am beyond happy with how my lips turned out. They already look incredible, and the healing process has been unbelievably easy. The first time I had lip blush done (at a different place), my lips swelled to nearly four times their normal size (I'm not exaggerating) and stayed that way for five days. I was so embarrassed that I wore a mask whenever I went out. This time? Virtually no swelling, and healing has been a breeze. I can't wait to see the final color once everything settles over the next few weeks. Anna deserves every bit of success that's come her way. I opted to make my appointment over the phone, but there's also an online scheduling option, if that works best for you. Maddy took my call and answered any questions I had, and was sweet and professional to work with. I was also sent a text reminder, which I appreciated and shows that they are interested in using up to date scheduling technology, which is a really good sign. Second, the medspa itself. The entry is around the back of the building, which I imagine is important for anyone wanting to be more discrete. Inside, the space was clean and beautiful - it has a relaxing atmosphere and doesn't feel overly clinical. I was immediately greeted and asked if I wanted a beverage, and then was ushered into a second waiting comfy room to fill out my intact paperwork. The music is typical relaxing spa music and they have it at just the right volume throughout the spa. After I filled out my paperwork, Maddy (who just happened to also be doing my facial!) came in and we talked about some of my skin concerns and goals, she was extremely knowledgeable and also just so sweet and friendly, she put me immediately at ease (this was my first HydraFacial). Next, the treatment itself. First off: the treatment room was a great temperature, no harsh overhead lights, and again that relaxing spa music. I changed into the little robe I was given and settled onto the gloriously warm treatment table. The next 50 minutes were just pure bliss, as Maddy expertly did each step of the Elite HydraFacial. It was much gentler than I had expected, like a tiny vacuum on my face. In between, I believe she was putting different serums on, and she did the red LED light for inflammation and anti aging. It was all just so wonderful and relaxing. Maddy was amazing! Afterwards my skin was as soft as a baby's bum, and it wasn't at all red or blotchy, which also surprised me! I went to lunch immediately afterwards without feeling the least bit self conscious, and in fact felt that "celebrity glow" that's so elusive. I also bought a couple of the products Maddy suggested and am already feeling the difference in my skin. TL;DR - I would absolutely recommend Luxeskin spa, and am looking forward to trying more of their services. Especially if you're looking for a facial to do before a big event like a wedding, the HydraFacial Elite at this medspa is the way to go!
