I discovered this franchise when I moved to IL and I absolutely love how efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable the ladies are. I originally went to the Oakbrook location but since my move I needed to find a closer studio. I was happy to find out that the Naperville location has the same amazing service and was actually the first location in IL. I finally got a membership package here which helps save money if you are a frequent waxer. I love that the Oakbrook and Naperville locations have the same franchise owner, which allows me to use my membership package at either of those locations. They do take walk ins, but I recommend making a reservation. ( I even did a same day reservation one time , which was great.) read more

Hands down, I had the best experience! Melissa, girrrrrl you hooked me up! Once again....I'm a waxing virgin and didn't know what to expect...thank God I have a high tolerance for pain...it was nothing. As she talked to me, she waxed away.....so let me back up a bit. The small space is very welcoming, and the receptionist spoke to me using my first name and was very nice. Now granted, my appointment was at 4:15, and she took me 15min after. Ok fine, no biggie! Yes, I'm a guy and I get waxed occasionally; it's back, eyebrows, and ears. Not judging anyone else but I don't understand how many people enjoy looking at that hair. So, I come here to get it taken care of and to look professional for times when I'm at shows or events. Luckily, Sabrina (Bri) was there today and she did an exceptional job. When I looked in the mirror and felt my skin, there was nothing left. She even went over a couple parts at the end to make sure she got everything. I have been going to Waxing the City for a few years to get my eyebrows waxed. I've had a great experience.

Review is based off the booking process only. Booked an appt on 2/18, you need to first select your service and then the provider. Since I have never been there I selected the "Next Available" option (many other salons have an "Any Provider" option which is what I thought this was) and then selected my desired date and time 2/26 at 6pm. I received an email confirmation that I was booked. Today, 2/24 I received a voicemail that I wasn't actually booked but instead put on a waitlist and my time was not available. Nowhere in the booking process or the confirmation email mentioned that I was on a waitlist and not fully booked. I am going out of town on 2/27 and now need to scramble and hope to find a place that can get me in for a waxing. Very frustrating that I wasn't notified that this was waitlist only until 6 days after I booked. read more

I ended up changing my Waxing in the City locations from the one in Lombard, and let me just say I am so happy I did! I love this location and have been seeing Sarah regularly for my waxes - she is amazing! She always checks in with me about what has changed with my skin, how our previous appointment was and anything I would like to change/adjust. I rarely keep the same esthetician because of my hectic schedule but I like working with Sarah so much that I have become a regular and will continue to see her! I could clearly see signage from street rte 59 which makes this an easy find. Salon very clean and receptionist very sweet & knowledgeable. Was able to get same day evening appointment, Which is great customer service! Nice upbeat music in private salon rooms. I wish I had more eyebrow hairs to enable tint/color to define my shape of brow better stay longer or look more defined. I tinted my eyebrows next time may need to go darker beyond arch since less hair to tint? lashes I tinted also, however I found this enhancement to be only a slight difference- I tried this tinting to avoid needing to apply mascara since I have sensitivities to make up & cosmetics to my eyes. I came here because my normal waxer was booked up and I wanted to get my underarms waxed before I went out of town. While I'm a regular waxer, this was the first time I'd gotten my underarms done. I also wanted to get the area below my navel done, not my entire stomach, a piece about 2 inches long (maybe) and 1.5 inches wide. My normal waxer charges me about $10 to do this area, if I get charged at all. When setting the appointment I was sure to let the girl know the issue as I didn't see that small area anywhere on their site for listed body parts. She told me that I could let my waxer know my issue and they could wax it, but the charge would be discussed then. I said ok, haltingly, and made the appointment. It's a pretty salon with wood flooring, bright lighting and clean shelving for their products. (And yes, they do try to sell them during the session). Sarah was my waxer and did a good job. I can't complain too much about the service on her end, she was funny and bubbly and did not double dip! The only issues I had with her were that she was a bit too quick as there were hairs that were missed on my 'happy trail' that I had to take care of myself later and they were definitely long enough to be waxed or tweezed. I did not notice them there due to the lighting in the room, I did once I arrived at home. I was uncomfortable but again, first time I'd ever had my underarms waxed, so I expected that. Sarah told me I did have some bleeding, which also has never happened before, not even for my Brazilian wax. After the deed was done, Sarah applied a powder and gave me some aftercare instructions. It was time to check out. I headed up to the register and was told that my service for the two was $54!!! But because I was a first time client, I'd get a whopping 50% off. Ordinarily, I would love 50% off anything, shoes mainly, but this seemed a bit high. When I asked for a explanation of the charges, I was told that small area that I wanted waxed was $30 as it was my abdomen. Um, what?! I reiterated the fact that the area was small and had I known I would have been charged for my whole abdomen, I'd have either gotten my entire abdomen (from sternum to hip bone) waxed or skipped it entirely. I also recalled the conversation I'd had on the phone with the person who made the appointment and how i explained that the area was small. They weren't budging. I decided then and there that cheating on my normal waxer was a decision I regretted. Thank goodness for the 50% discount. I paid the bill and left, never to return. No apologies, no nothing. They should be able to make a difference of your entire torso and a maybe 4 inch area. Once I noticed the hairs and had to tend to them myself, I was even madder. But I figure it's karma for cheating on my normal waxer. I won't say her name because I don't want her name attached to this review or her to know I cheated. I'm that ashamed. Come here if you wish. Though Sarah was good, I won't be back. It only gets the stars because of her. Without her service, it's a zero in my book. read more

Walk in experience. Was not sure if they would take a walk in but for brows for my 13 year old daughter I figure it was a quick job and worth stopping since we were right there, saving me from driving out of the way. Walking in, the reception area was clean but lots of products and the form they require you fill out has a section on the back that the waxing person fills out for products they recommend to you. As someone who has worked in a commission structured environment in the past this was not something I found pleasant as the customer to have pretty much shoved right in my faced before even signing on the dotted line to give consent for the service. The employee behind the counter was nice and explained the 2 eyebrow services they offered. 1 being a full shaping at a whopping $30 or so and a tween service for $12. Now I understand they are supposed to be a no tipping salon but in my opinion that is too much. The employee told me that for a walk in they had time for the tween service not a full shaping. I asked what the difference was specifically and she told me that they cleaned up under the brows and the center of the 2. My daughter had her brows waxed 6 weeks ago and the under brow area and center sounded good to me. At her age I don't think the top needs to be shaped unless she had some very bushy brows. So we waited a few minutes and a woman came out and took my daughter back. I was going to go back as well but was brushed off by the employee. Now I understand that as mom I should have marched my butt back their anyway so I am at fault for that but the waxer made it seem like I would be in the way and I had no idea the size of the room. Also I know my daughter will sit still and not complain if I am not there and be more of a drama queen about the pain of it if I am. So I stayed up front. A few minutes later my daughter was back up. I took 1 look at her and could see that she was a little red like normal after getting waxed but the problem was I could barely tell that she had been waxed by the amount of hair that had been removed. I commented on that and was told the woman who did the wax would not have time to fix it but another employee would. Umm, ok. Does this mean I'm now going to pay for a shaping service? I'm not sure at that point because we were ushered to another room, this time with me too. My daughter laid down on a table and under the lighting I could see how irritated her skin actually was from the waxing she had received practically on her eye lid a good 1/8 of an inch below her eyebrow. I said to the new waxing employee that my daughter actually shouldn't be waxed again now that I can see in the light because it will hurt her skin. The waxer told me she was going to tweeze the hair to fix it. Uh yea no. I said I was not ok with that, if I wanted to sit through tweeting my daughters eyebrows I could have done that at home not paid $12-$30 and wasted what would have been probably 1/2 an hour. I have tweeted my daughters eyebrows several times in the past and only recently convinced her that waxing would be less difficult because with waxing you pull 1 hair and she is covering her eye with her hand and wants a minute and it takes forever. Well because I tell the waxer that I'm not going to sit here three tweeting because it will take forever and the kid will just be in pain she has the nerve to tell me I must not know how to tweeze. Are you kidding? So insulting your customers is a practice here really? Confused by her statement I said you pull the skin taunt and pull in the direction of the hair growth. It's not rocket science. And continuing to insult me ignorantly said "well where do you pull the hair from?" Seriously. From the shaft, I told her. All of this being a ridiculous interaction that should not have occurred if you know how to speak to your customer. I told my daughter to get up and we walked out front. I told the front desk employee that we were not getting them fixed because it could not be fixed without tweeting and that isn't what we were there for. The woman behind the desk said she would not charge us for today since we were unhappy with the service. I said no we weren't happy and would not be returning. Absolute waste of time. 2 stars for cleanliness, and the front desk employees politeness. 0 stars for service provided and other employees attitude. read more

I came to her for my first Brazilian, went to another location with a different cerologist (for convenience purposes as I live far away from the Naperville location), but decided that it was worth the drive and the time (and the money!) to see Corine each and every time. I was there last week for a leg and Brazilian wax I typically see someone else however she was booked so I took the first available bad mistake. Typically a leg and Brazilian wax should take longer than a half hour however mine was only a half hour for both services and you can tell from the outcome of the wax that it was very very rushed and not thorough. During my Brazilian I kept mentioning the wax was too hot my cerologist told me that it was because it was a sensitive area however the next day my labia majors was still was swollen due to the temperature of the wax. Either services were not thorough and very disappointed with both. I can understand and respect the fact if an Individual is experienced and is able to perform quick. However, being to fast to check over your work is poor on their part. Many spots were missed. At the end I even had to call her back in due to the fact the entire back of leg was missed. I would not recommend a Brazilian service.I have never had an issue before with a leg wax but I also have never had two services completed in less than a half hour, hence the sub par service I received. I did pay for both services and did tip however, I am less than satisfied with the services I received. Did not expect this establishment to provide such a poor outcome regarding the services I received. read more

Ladies and gentlemen let me just give you a heads up and tell you that If you like getting waxed..Go to European wax center... DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Long story short, this place is an absolute disaster as far as organization goes & the UNBELIEVABLE lack of respect the owners Anna & even more so her husband Maz, gave my boyfriend and I was out of this world. The owners screwed up horribly with their dysfunctional operating system and tried making their personal screw ups OUR FAULT, they talked down to US, insulted US, and CUSSED at US. Never have I ever had an experience like this with anywhere I've ever been in my life. My boyfriend and I are just absolutely appalled with how these 2 owners think its okay to call us on our personal cellphone and SWEAR/LITERALLY YELL at a CUSTOMER!! And when they weren't yelling, they were talking over either my boyfriend or myself. It is NOT okay in the slightest to talk to ANYONE with that kind of disrespect let alone one of your (ex) customers. Their little philosophy is "We don't except tipping, just tip top waxing and referring us to everyone you know!" Well guess what.. if there is ANY money that I would want to give to any employee at this specific location of Waxing The City her name would be Kiesha (unsure of her last name) because the 2 Brazilian waxes I had gotten done by her.. and they were great! But I hope she knows sooner or later what kind of people she is working for (and i'm sure she will) because they are 2 of the most disrespectful people (even more so "Maz" the husband) I have ever met in my life. She was engaging but also very attentive to her work. She made sure she got all of the hair and residual wax as well as rubbing down the areas after to make sure I wasn't sticky. I have been trying waxing spas all over Naperville and I have not been impressed. This place used only hard wax for the underarms. Hard wax doesn't get off all the hairs and a few days later I had a far amount of hair already grown back. I would like to see this place use a mixture of waxes to remove hair. This is the only way to ensure a good quality wax. read more
