He demanded full payment upfront and made every excuse & lie under the sun as to why he cannot perform the work (which included getting into a car accident and breaking only the microphone on his phone but still had the ability to text...later which he contradicted himself and said he only had a flat tire....and also saying he had a family member have an emergency and was in the hospital but that same night posted his ad on Craigslist). My boyfriend found this service thru Yelp and was hoping to receive good service per the posts he found. Unfortunately we did not. After initial meeting there was a lot of inconsistency from Richard. Many false promises,missed appointments and sub par expectations. Arriving late, being unprepared, is not a way to conduct business. The final work was beyond satisfactory,and we were happy. However it's hard to over see the hurdles and lack there of professionalism. Please note he has a F rating with the BBB. Please be cautious shoppers. read more

I myself am retired Submarine Service USN. He uses his "possible"Sub service as part of his advertisement. I assumed honor, integrity based on my brotherhood of military veterans I have had the pleasure of knowing. He took my down payment for materials of $450 and over the next 3 weeks became more evasive every follow up call to contact to the point his phone no longer took calls. I'm embarrassed to say I didn't do my homework on this guy and paid for it. It was only after the fact I started digging and found like complaints all over the web, an arrest record and a negative news piece aired on T.V.. I have seen dozens of complaints just like mine. After shopping around, my wife and I chose Elite Carpet because no one else could beat his price, the installation was very professional, we were also impress with the carpet quality and padding, he took the time to fill cracks in the floor and replace some damage tacks at no extra cost, I would recommend him to any and everyone. read more

I run an interior decorating company in Central Florida. I have been in business about 28 years. Recently I contacted Richard of Elite Carpet to do some carpeting for a client. I am extremely unhappy with his service. He has not followed up with me. Richard has not shown himself to be a trusted professional. Mr. Rokowski came to my house and gave me an estimate which seemed too good to be true. On July 9 he took my $500 deposit and I never received the carpet I was promised. On at least four separate occasions he was supposed to come and install and he either didn't show up at all or called at the very last minute (or late ) and had an excuse as to why he couldn't make it. Couldn't get a helper, supplier didn't send enough carpet, job ran late, another couldn't get a helper and the list goes on and on. Finally, I asked for a refund which he has also been giving me the run around on. It was supposed to be here Thursday, August 23. It wasn't. Then he said it should be here by the 24th. Nothing. It is now the 28th and still no refund. Yesterday I wrote my first bad review for him and he contacted me to tell me he would not refund me unless I took down the bad review. So, he is basically holding my money hostage. Check out BBB and various unsavory reports and mugshots for this local businessman. Be very careful. Richard still owes us $1000 from a job in 2016. He has a trail of failing to deliver and taking people's money. He has been investigated by channel 9 news Orlando for failing to deliver on his promises. Don't become another victim. I would recommend never trust him with cash. read more

I'm not the type to post reviews on social media, but felt I needed to share my experience with Elite Carpet. I have owned my home for many years and as you can image the kids and dogs got the better of our carpet. My husband and I shopped around and compared prices. We had a fixed budget we were determined to stick to. When we met with Richard Rokowski he was polite, punctual, and professional. After meeting with Richard we were pleased to learn we could not only replace the carpet, but our budget also allowed us to put new laminate flooring in our dining room. I was more than thrilled. With the holidays coming, I won't be embarrassed to have family over. Richard did an amazing job on the installation and the carpet was top quality. I would highly recommend Elite Carpet to anyone. About a week after the installation, Richard even called to make sure we were happy with the product and installation. My only regret is that we didn't do this sooner. read more

We hired Rich mid August 2018. He could not accept credit card and we hadn't unpacked yet so we didn't have a checkbook. We wired him half the cost of the job, $1200. He delayed starting the job for a month. A different excuse each week. Illness, fell behind, didn't have a helper, wrong color carpet came in, etc. he finally began the project solo and work extremely slow at removing old carpet and laying padding. Another delay happened where he didn't show for several days he was scheduled. Despite him stating multiple times the carpet was in, he had picked it up, he was using rain days to cut it, etc. he finally admitted the carpet was at Lowe's and he needed more money to pay for it. We met him at Lowe's and paid for the carpet ourselves. He returned and began the project. He carpeted 3 bedrooms and the loft. Leaving the hallway, closets and stairs undone with the promise to return. He told us for 3 days he was on other jobs and couldn't return. He promised to come early the following day and we texted him twice and called once, never to hear from him again. In September when we started getting concerned, I googled him and found many reports of fraud and theft. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and hoped he was just really bad at scheduling and struggled with money management. Unfortunately when he disappeared we were left with an incomplete job. He quoted us $2400 and we paid $1711 of that. Luckily a neighbor recommended another local with a real crew who knew their stuff. They showed me all Richard's errors and that not only did he install wrong because of the direction of the carpet, but he didn't have enough to complete the job. My husband and I went to Lowe's and purchased another 20 foot roll and they finished the job for me the next day. I would NEVER recommend Rich to anyone. He will try to sway you with niceties and saying he is a veteran, but he is a crook and you will not get a project completed. read more
