I have never been a patient here but my wife had an emergent situation. While recovering from a major surgical procedure she developed an acute toothache. Was seen by a dentist, started on antibiotics and referred to Elite for a root canal. Their staff were pleasant, helpful, informative and efficient. An appointment was scheduled and she was seen promptly. Now my wife is not a great dental patient. Her first instinct was to get the tooth pulled and be done with it. However that is a decision made through fear and not necessarily the smartest thing to do. The specialist was calm and very reassuring. She was patient, described every part of the procedure just before beginning and very gentle- who can ever say that about a dental professional with a drill? The root canal was done and my wife was home shortly pain free. I can recommend this office without reservation. Incidentally root canals are not cheap but they did offer several payment options. read more

I was referred to see Dr Russell at Missouri City location for a second opinion. I had an excellent experience. Dr. Russell and all his staff were extremely kind. He took his time explaining me the situation inside out which helped me to make a final decision regarding saving or extracting the front tooth which was injured 20 years ago during an accident. I came here as a referral from my new dentist. I was in a lot of pain. I was told I needed a root canal, ouch, I had never had or needed one before. I called first, and they immediately started working on processing my insurance and told me I could come right away. I was releived to be able to be seen ASAP. I came to their office. They provided up front cost and had me fill out their intake forms with the computer in their lobby. I was seen fairly quick. First, they evaluated by doing a consult. But was then seen by Dr. Anna de Graft-Johnson. She was ready to do it right away, which I was surprised by. I figured I would have to schedule an appointment and come back. I was in bad pain, and it had to be done, so she worked on it. She had a great bedside manner and walked me through steps. It's a lot. She answered my questions before and after the procedure. The type of interaction I liked. Just as she explained, the pain started subsiding in a couple of days. Thank Jesus! I see why the place is 5 Stars. I was referred to Dr. Russell by my dentist when she discovered my childhood filling had cracked and allowed the root pulp in one of my back molars to decay. I immediately started dreading the procedure as soon as she told me I needed a root canal. Of course I hopped on Yelp straightaway to check out the reviews for Elite Endodontic. And y'all, I'm here to tell you the hype is real!! I would classify myself as a nervous dental patient. Many poor experiences in my childhood have scarred me and made me fearful of dental procedures. I pretty much told Dr. Russell and Norma, his assistant, as much the moment I sat down in the chair. They both reassured me and said that I should raise my hand if I was ever in any pain and he would stop immediately. Guys- I never had to raise my hand. In fact, I was so comfortable that I actually TOOK A NAP DURING MY ROOT CANAL. No, I'm not kidding. I actually fell asleep for 10-15 minutes because when I woke up he was telling me he was finishing up! If you're a worried or anxious patient, I hope you know that you'll get great care at Elite. Dr. Russell walked me through every step and explained what he was doing in terms that were neither childish nor frightening. Dr. Anna De Graft-Johnson, D.D.S., M.P.A., M.S. and her staff are outstanding. My dentist recommended her and she was able to see me the next day. The staff is very efficient and had the insurance taken care of before my arrival. Dr. Johnson's assistant Sofie took my x-rays and then put a pillow under my neck to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Johnson showed me the x-ray and explained step by step what needs to be done and how she will do the root canal. The process was pain free and I was almost falling asleep. Afterwards she showed me what she did and explained that she will send all the documentation to my regular dentist. She and her staff are so pleasant you just want to hug them all. They later called me and asked if I wanted to come in earlier due to a cancellation and I gladly took it. I received amazing care, starting at the front office. ANNA DE GRAFT-JOHNSON, D.D.S. is absolutely incompetent! I went to this endodontist practice because it was recommended by my dentist. However, looking back, I realize they do referrals for each other as courtesies. Please be aware of this practice, especially if you will be seen by Anna Graft- Johnson. Go elsewhere instead! She lacks confidence and is unsure on how to proceed with procedures. I had a scheduled procedure that we discussed in depth; however, once I sat in the chair and was meditated with numbing medication, she realized she took on more than she could handle. She stated she wanted to do a different procedure than the one that was planned. I asked if there was a reason and she said there was no reason. (If didn't make sense!) It was UNBELIEVABLE! She proceeded to ask me if I was sure that I wanted to have this procedure AFTER we had a detailed in-depth conversation. It was a stalling tactic on her part. Once I realized how nervous and incompetent she was, I knew I could not allow her to go anywhere near my mouth again. As a medical professional myself I was totally flabbergasted by her incompetence! She should not be practicing dentistry especially endodontist procedures. Anna Graft-Johnson is perilous. Please go somewhere else. read more

This is going to be a long review, but if you are in the " needs extra special dental care category, it may be worth the read." I'm the kind of dental patient you don't want. I have a horrible gag reflex, I struggle with simple Xrays... :( That said, I had been in pain off and on in one particular tooth. Went to the dentist (Floss) and they said I needed a root canal, and gave me a referral to ACE. I called same day (Friday) and was able to get in on Monday. I come in on Monday, and get all the estimated costs, etc provided to me upfront. I get settled in to gag for some xrays.. Doctor Russell came in and introduced himself and walked me through the procedure. He gave me the shots and waited a few mins to go numb. I struggle with a GAG reflex, and the dental dam ( the thing they put over your mouth, i assume to keep you from swallowing that gross stuff they are cleaning out) gave me a run for my money. I was gagging and gagging. Dr. Russell suggested we attempt this root canal a different day with some meds to help with the gag reflex. I felt so bad to take up an appointment, and I guess he must of seen the look on my face, because he said please do not apologize. It's not a problem. I went in yesterday and got the root canal done. No pain during, and little pain if any after. I had been in pain for months off and on, that once he was done about an hour or so later I was already feeling better. My appt was late (315) and the meds helped, but didn't put me out so it took a while before they were able to start. The staff was friendly, kind and patient with me. I walked out and didnt realize till later that it was close to 6( 545 ish). They waited for the meds to work, for me to be relaxed and as calm as possible before starting. That says a lot about the practice. Highly recommend should you find yourself in need of a root canal. its not as bad as you are likely making it out to be in your mind. :) read more

I had a consult with Dr. Johnson on 2/15/19. Dr. Johnson and her staff are professionally polite. Dr. Johnson is very thorough, knowledgeable and patient. She was careful to obtain my current medications and history. She explained the rationale for a possible intervention should I need treatment. She welcomed dialogue and I didn't feel rushed at all. It felt she truly cared and desires to provide first class care. I definitely recommend her. I would suggest opening the frosted glass at the check- in as soon as the clinic opens. It was 10:31 and my appointment was at 10:30 and I had to knock on the glass after hearing the staff talking behind the glass. The reception staff, dental assistant and Endodontist were all courteous which is important to me. read more

Having an urgent and complicated root canal is never a situation you want to find yourself in. But Dawn and Dr. Russel at ACE Endodontics made the procedure as comfortable as possible. I received the warmest treatment from Dawn, the dentist's assistant, she made sure I was comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. The endodontist, Dr. Russel, also kept me at ease, constantly updating me on what he was doing next and how it would sound or feel, so I never had any surprises. The root canal itself wasn't a painful procedure and the soreness I have today is exactly as they described it, but the intense pain I had before the procedure is completely gone. I have serious anxiety and just about everything related to this appt sent my blood pressure up and my heart racing BUT they calmed me down and were so very patient with my constant need to interrupt their work just to regroup. I ended up needing a root canal two days before Christmas. They fit me in with a referral from my dentist. I had a bad infection in the root and at times the procedure was painful. Not any fault to the doctor, but probably my stressful nerves and infection. They made sure I was comfortable before I left and gave me meds at the office for pain/inflammation. I had this under the wrong location and am properly placing it under the correct location......went there today 10/21/2015 after going through a series of x rays for one tooth even though i was recommended to them by a dentist i had seen the day before who had also took x-rays they could've used they insisted that i needed to let them do their own ( padding my insurance bill of course) they then explained to me what would be happening which was a re-root canal to clean a infection i had the also said if they couldn't get it out they would need to extract after showing me the quote i asked them to just extract the tooth because it was over my insurance converge allowance and i didn't want to spend that much out of pocket...... all of a sudden they dont do extraction of teeth ?!?!?!?!?! this was beyond frustrating not only am i in the worst pain of my life, i have a dentist who insist on getting the most out of me instead of taking care of my needs she just told me they would extract if all else fails but because i wanted to skip the smoke and mirrors show and get to it, they wouldn't ! I am hard to do dentistry work on due to being hard to anesthetize properly. Dr. Russell and his staff took that into account and the double root canal was done without issue.
