Update for my 2nd job completion. Job was completed on the Thursday it was scheduled. Overall, due to unforeseen delays, it was completed within 9 days (Weekend included), originally estimated 3 days. I am very happy with the flooring install, my only issue was on the baseboard installation. There were 4 corner spots where I feel the job was rushed and not properly cared for. These were minor mistakes but still noticeable. Carlos was very receptive and understanding of these misfortunes and gave me a 27% discount as compensation. You take chances with hiring any company to work on your home but I feel Carlos & Oscar did what they could to keep me happy. I've read how other companies abandoned jobs that became problematic where as Carlos and Oscar stuck it out until completion and discounted for the delays. Impressed to say the least! I had the tile in my master bathroom replaced with 12x24" ceramic tile (~100sq/ft). From start to finish the installation took 4 days. One to apply self leveler, one day to lay the Ditra membrane, another to do the tile and grout, and the last day was a quick clean up. I had carpet and tiles removed throughout my house, and replaced with vinyl plank flooring. Carlos was easy to work with & very attentive to detail. On the last day of work, he walked through my home and brought to my attention something that most contractors would over look. He showed me what was already done (which was fine as it was) but asked me if I preferred it done another way instead & quickly had his guys remedy the baseboards to my liking. We hired Carlos and his crew to replace all the carpet (2500 sf) in our home with Laminate flooring we had purchased. We were very happy with everything about the project- they moved all our heavy furniture, did it in the time frame they promised, were on time every day, did a quality job and gave us good suggestions for tiling our stair risers. They also replaced all our baseboards in the rooms they worked on. they even had a cleaner come in at the end to help with the dust and the project ended up being cheaper than the original estimate!! GHOSTED, UNRELIABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL. Let's start backwards. Our job is suppose to start this morning in about two hours, Carlos text last night that his co-worker is sick although Carlos himself confirmed he is suppose to be here to start the job. Additionally his text exchange he tried to shift blame on us by saying he has to split tile with grout. We told him we're not the experts so come and do the job and show us. This cancelation happened around 8pm last night 11/1. Yesterday on 11/1 we had text exchange plus phone call to confirm everything. We also called and text last week and he confirmed the job now several times. He has told us he has a large team of people so we know he is lieing to us as he has shown his unorganized and unprofessional behavior behavior before. He changed the job date twice, so we finally got it in writing. He also only really responds on Yelp and not the any phone numbers provided unless you contact him on Yelp first. He also has been a no call/no show on the first meeting and wasn't even going to tell us! 30min later we text and he said he can't make it. Carlos has never reached out to us about anything, everything has had to be initiated by us and then we are now, because of Carlos sitting on inventory for over one month since he can't get his business straight. Also we moved our entire furniture, just two small people all into the garage for our floor project and removed everything from the walls so the guys can work. This liar has caused such trouble for us. It doesn't stop at Yelp Carlos, you just wait. We will contact the BBB and your licensing committees about this neglect!!!! We contracted with them to replace carpet on two staircases and rip out the carpet and replace it with wood on two additional staircases. From the start it was a pleasure working with Carlos in generating the quote. Bay Area Floor Express came in well under other quotes, and in chatting with him at our home it just became clear that Carlos' business has a wealth of experience. The previous contractors were trying to tell us how complicated the hardwood stairs could be, but Carlos didn't even blink at that. It honestly felt like the other contractors we were chatting with were just complete rookies and Carlos was a seasoned veteran, so he definitely earned our trust before they even got started. His daughter Miryane was a pleasure to correspond with over email in finalizing the quote and getting the job scheduled, and the two of them were extremely patient and understanding as they had to wait for our Carpet to come in. Once all of our materials had arrived, we set a scheduled time for the work to take place. Carlos came by a day or so prior to drop off the Carpet and Wood so the wood could acclimate to our home temperature (moved it all in himself from his truck), and the job started exactly when he said it would. It followed the plan sharply and was concluded exactly when expected. In the other work we've had done around our home with other contracts, this was a very pleasant surprised - we just simply weren't expecting them to be that sharp about it. In addition to the punctuality, I must also add that all of his workers were a pleasure to interact with. All of them were very friendly and informative if I had any questions (I only had one or two throughout the job) - they never made me feel like I was interrupting or anything. Lastly, I need to just plainly state that the work was extremely high quality. The carpet job that Carlos' guys did was literally better than the original Builder (our house is a newer home that came with some ugly carpets on the stairs), and the wood stairs had some really bizarre turns which required some precision and care and they hit it out of the park. Extremely happy with the work! Overall, this entire experience was a pleasure. This is how contracting work should be done.
