I reached out to Elite over the summer to help with a few resealing projects around my house, including a leaking window and an air gap issue with one of our sliding doors. Juan handled the work and was excellent from start to finish. He was professional, clearly experienced, and made sure everything was properly sealed and taken care of. The work was completed within the timeframe that was originally given, and the results have held up great. There were a few minor hiccups when it came to confirming schedules as they came to quote but took a week to get a proposal and then another two weeks for an appointment, but honestly the quality of the work made it worth the wait. Overall, I'm really happy with how everything turned out and would definitely recommend Elite to anyone needing similar work done. read more

This review is long overdue. Elite was hired to waterproof a deck. The phone and email service were totally fine and the folks who came to assess the job were also great. The first time they finished the work, water was still pooling on the deck with some light rain. I complained, and they sent some folks over to redo the work. This second time they left the place pretty dirty, with painters tape half covered in waterproofing material which is still nearly impossible for me to remove. But the kicker? The work itself is still subpar. There's no primer under the paint they used on the door from the deck so it's peeling off. The water still leaks into the room below and I had to have someone else come and take a look at it. The edges of the work particularly where the deck meets the house were very poorly done. I'm disappointed that not only did they have to do the job twice, but the second time they left things so dirty, tape literally painted on, and never checked in or even had someone confirm with me the work was done. Having someone else come by has highlighted just how poorly this was handled. I wouldn't ever go back to these guys. read more

They successfully repaired the soft spot on my flat roof no more water in the garage. However during the repair someone left a heavy tool or ladder mark that dented my aluminum gutter downspout. When I called to ask about it they said it was probably already there and offered no solution. I'm happy the roof is dry but annoyed I now have to pay to fix the gutter separately. read more

As an well-established general contractor here in Oakland, we are always looking for reliable, qualified subcontractors. Elite Roofing started off as a solid partner. Pretty quickly though, we began to see subpar work, and no communication. Right now they are avoiding our calls on 2 different jobs. We are simply trying to get them to complete work that they are in contract for. They are quite good at selling work, but not good at completing work. This feedback is based on over 10 jobs with them. We cannot, under any circumstances, recommend them for commercial or residential work. I was originally happy with the balcony waterproofing work that this company did. BUT THERE IS A SMALL (2-inch) CRACK IN THE DECK AFTER 9 MONTHS AND THEY WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY REQUESTS TO CORRECT IT. IT IS NOT A BIG CRACK BUT IF IT IS NOT REPAIRED WATER WILL GET IN AND ROT THE WOOD. They sent a technician out to look at it but have are not responding to my several requests to schedule the correction. Ultimately though I went with a different roofing company, because their quote was 3X higher than 2 other quotes I got. I was looking for waterproofing services for my concrete stairs over a wood frame with stucco guardrails. This house was built in 1937 and is my childhood home. The stairs had been leaking over the years due to the concrete pulling away from the stucco, causing dry rot. The wood was replaced, and the stairs were painted 6 months ago; they had since started chipping. You could see all the layers of paint. Due to prior leaks, dry rot, and peeling paint, I began researching waterproofing systems. It was not easy to find a company that specializes in concrete stairs with stucco guardrails. I couldn't find any photos of what I had. I started looking around and considered painters, decking companies, and waterproofing companies. Most waterproofing companies specialize in roofing only and declined my request. I then came across Elite Roofing & Waterproofing. They had a photo of the concrete stairs they had done. Alonso contacted me immediately, scheduled an appointment, and arrived on time. He reviewed my stairs, suggested an exceptional waterproofing system, and provided a quote the same day. Some systems can take up to 2 weeks to cure, but the Tremco Vulkem Waterproofing system can be installed in a couple of days due to the chemistry. Juan and his son arrived by 8:30 am each day of the job and were meticulous. The preparation includes covering the area with plastic, removing all paint down to the concrete, repairing cracks as needed, filling all large voids, sealing joints, taping the stucco above each step and landing, and applying primer and sand for grip, base coat, and top coat. Each coat with activator cures in 30-45 minutes, so you need to be highly trained at applying this system. It's literal chemistry. The system protects all joints with the sealer, after which the layers bond and extend from the stucco to the stairs, further protecting them from water intrusion. There are nice colors for the top coat as well. The stairs have an awesome grip with the sand for safety. This gives us peace of mind and protects our precious childhood home. They sent someone several weeks ago to perform a roof inspection, this person spent 2-3 hours on our roof, and since then the company rep Nancy has gone dark on us. Not only have they not sent the roof report, but they are no longer responding to my emails. read more

They came and fixed it. I wish it would have been easier,simpler to resolve but they did it. So overall pleased with the result.

Used these guys to clear our gutters and they did a great job. Showed up on time, cleaned everything well, and were very courteous.

I almost never leave bad reviews for local businesses, but Alonso brought this on himself. As a project manager, he was sloppy and lazy; as an all-around human being, he was incredibly dishonest and deceitful. We hired Alonso and his crew to replace our tar-and-gravel roof. We went with them in large part due to the good reviews here. In the beginning, Alonso was responsive and pleasant. His crew arrived to the job site on time. Things seemed to be progressing. We were also getting solar installed at the same time, and this required Alonso to coordinate with the solar people. We shared everyone's numbers. Then, midway through the project, Alonso suddenly told us he needed to charge us an extra few thousand dollars because the solar people were dragging their feet and delaying the job. I called the solar people, who told me they'd been calling Alonso's cell every day and he'd never responded. I went back to Alonso, who denied getting any calls. The solar people, in turn, sent me their call logs, which showed that they in fact had been calling him. When presented with this proof, Alonso sort of mumbled, admitted his error, and withdrew his demand. This was, essentially, his form of low-key extortion, but he was too lazy to pull it off. Then the job was "finished"... or rather, his crew left one Friday and never came back. I went up to have a look, and it was clear the job was, at best, only mostly finished. There were large sections where the flat metal flashing did not get installed, and there were parts of the roof not fully covered by gravel, exposing the tar to the direct sun. Moreover, there were splashes of hot tar that had been spilled all over our decks. I realize tar is messy to work with, but I find it strange that no tarps were laid. I took photos and sent them to Alonso. He promised he would pay for the deck cleanup. He sent a guy to install the flashing. But when that guy arrived, he took one look at the rest of the work and said that the workers hadn't properly sealed the edges around the skylights. I brought this to Alonso's attention in November. It is now January. He has been ignoring all of my calls and all of my texts. Calls to his office go unanswered. He hasn't paid us a dollar to repair our decks. I know he's now just ignoring me, because he knows he's screwed up and he's too dishonest of a person to face the consequences. Avoid this business at all costs. read more

Besides the usual plywood and shingles they also reframed the sagging old roof beams, patched up a lot of the siding, added a ton of new vents (ridge and o'hagin), and replaced all of the fascia. I requested a quote to install some sun tunnels and Paco came out to give us an estimate (he did show up 1.5 hours later than he was originally scheduled to come but Erica/team apologized for that hiccup). After the on-site, I mainly communicated with Erica to figure out logistics, timing, and general questions and she was always very prompt with her responses! After getting some other contractors out, we decided to go with Elite Roofing. They had an opening and were able to fit us in. Overall, the work was done in 4 hours and we're pleased with it! The guys were clean and didn't leave a mess afterward. The job was reasonably priced and we love our new sun tunnels. We hired Elite to do some roof maintenance ahead of a solar installation. Alonso gave us an estimate and was reasonable on price. Juan and an assistant did great work, spending all day on the roof, and even fixing a gutter that had been badly installed. They've also offered to come back at no charge after the solar job is done just to look at the roof and let us know if anything was damaged or done badly. My timing stinks. Alonso & his hard working crew at Elite Roofing to my rescue! After a near-monsoon, the small drip in an upstairs bedroom turned into 2 gallons of water in a bucket! My regular roofer was tied up, but Alonso was across the street doing a quote, and stopped by to look at my leak plus a list of little maintenance items I'd been putting off. Three days later, his crew of four was on site sealing up six architectural columns on top of the house, rerouted two downspouts that had been bothering me, re-pitched a small half-roof so it drains properly, installed a new drain & downspout to drain the main roof where it had been collecting water in a low spot, and sealed up a new vent pipe I installed. The crew was communicative, responsive when I asked questions, and cleaned up all the little leftover scraps. They when managed to match my existing 10-year old half-roof color that I couldn't tell new from old. These were mostly little tasks that I've been meaning to get to for years, but only think about when it's raining and my regular roofer is tired up. I had an estimate scheduled for a job at my home, which I rearranged my work schedule to make sure I could facilitate. At the scheduled time, nobody showed up or called, so I gave the company a call 15 minutes after the scheduled time to find out if anyone was coming. The person who answered the phone said she'd call me back to find out where the driver was--1.5 hours later, nobody has called me back, nobody has showed up, and they have not answered my follow-up call. I can understand having a scheduling mistake or running behind, but ignoring someone and not attempting to make it right or at least apologize, is simply disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. This was disappointing as I was looking forward to supporting a local business that describes itself as "woman owned and operated." read more

I cannot say enough good things about Alonso and his team. First, even during COVID, I had a fast response and quote. Second, when they came to the job site, they pointed out several areas that needed to be addressed that I was not even aware of and offered solutions on how to solve those issues. They always showed up when they said they were going to be onsite and went above and beyond to accommodate our somewhat unusual design. Alonso did a final walk through and addressed a small cosmetic issue - no problem. How do I know we got a great roof? An unusual windstorm ripped off part of the roofing on my garage. I called and they showed up on time in person to do a free estimate. The estimate included great pictures of the damage and why a replacement was needed. My Allstate adjuster aid it made his job easy to pay my claim in full (minus deductible). They complete repairs a day earlier than scheduled, called my to say they might be late -- but were on time!
