The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond to make sure our needs are met and taken care of before we leave through the doors! Also just took a private 3 on 1 lesson with my wife & daughter. The instructor Xavier was super informative, patient, & knowledgeable to the point that my 10 year old is now hooked! I don't care what anyone says, I'm glad I found this place & wouldn't take my business anywhere else. Im not an expert and I wouldn't even claim novice. I'm not a stranger to guns but I've never had to shoot one either (the BB gun I had as a kid is the exception). The service staff was great and informing me what gun to practice with. They really took their time explaining. I settled on a 45. The birthday girl was already inside getting a private lesson but she'd been the day before and bought a 22. Another sorority sister gave me a lot of tips so by the time the attendant came to walk me through, I was ready. I started with the 22 and that felt good. I did quite a few practice rounds with that one. I decided to try a small purple gun my sis brought with her. I had to! It was purple! The power from that gun was mightier than its size. I was blown away! So yeah, I went back to the 22 lol. I really enjoyed the day and was glad to celebrate with her but now I have a new interest. I priced the guns, I have no way of knowing whether I'm getting a good deal or not. I decided to have a talk with my cousin to see what he thinks and purchase later. If you've never been, just know the fees add up. You need ear protection & eye protection and they have it available for purchase. If you wear glasses, they count as eye protection. It's crazy loud, I used the ear plugs and the over the ear muffs. And of course there are fees to rent a gun (if you don't bring your own) and for use of the range.

They are a place to ship your internet purchased firearms for you to do the FFL transfer in accordance with the law, do the paperwork for your NFA/Title 2 firearms, and buy ammunition/accessories. I will use Armadillo Armory for transfers (and their other services) whenever I am in San Antonio.

Here's why I ordered the SOLGW Frogskin…read more I wanted a solid 5.56 rifle I can actually train with and rely on, not just something to sit in the closet. I've had good experiences with SOLGW gear, so when they dropped the Frogskin edition, it grabbed my attention right away. Same SOLGW quality, just with a unique finish that actually looks good instead of being over the top. I'm actually driving from Austin down to San Antonio just to pick it up in person and check out the shop, because this is a rifle I plan on making my main one. The look is a bonus, but the main reason I bought it is the reputation: properly built, reliable, and meant to be shot. These are just my early thoughts based on the specs and what I know about SOLGW. Once I get it, zero it, and put some rounds through it, I'll come back and update this with how it shoots and holds up.

Unfortunately, orders I've placed directly through them for "In stock" items either never ship or are extremely delayed. I've placed orders direct three times. One of those was for an "in stock" lower that took close to a month to arrive at my local FFL (from San Antonio to Austin). I won't even begin on the poor quality of the finish on the lower. Oh, and don't write a negative review for anything on their site because they won't post it...FYI. Twice, I've cancelled other orders after almost a month of emailing and asking for an order status and 3 plus days go by before I'll get someone who tells me "order is ready, just waiting on shims, so you'll have it next week" and someone else who replies "we are doing our best to keep up with orders" but no status. How about some communication to the customer to say an item is missing from an "In stock" order or just email or call to say "sorry for the delay"...anything. But instead, no communication or attempts and after almost a month on my most recent order, so I cancelled and I will not return to SOLGW for anything. If customer service is this way just to get an item, imagine how poorly things will go if you have an actual issue or a return, etc. Really wish things had gone differently, but a hard pass on poor customer service so I'll stick with another brand.

Pros: Decent quality cerakote (not great). Relatively cheap (who charges tax on shipping??)…read more Cons: Open-ended timelines (which they consider normal, when it's not to anyone else in the industry) and poor communication. Basically, you get what you pay for. Not the best quality. Got my gun back with a few spots painted unevenly - dry sprayed, with dull finish right next to shiny. Not a big deal for me, since it's an antique and has rough spots anyway, but would be more of an problem with a new gun. What's more of an issue is that there is no way of knowing when your project is going to be completed. My project took 7 weeks, and it wasn't exactly a huge challenge - a small handgun, single color frame and slide, second color all small parts. Original estimate was 3 weeks. They prioritize other things, over-promising and misinforming along the way, resulting in a way longer timeline. You may get a better service if you are a local customer, not sure. Absolutely not worth the aggravation for mail-order - plenty of other, reputable cerakote applicators around.
