I had an extremely disappointing experience with Dr. Elizabeth Anderson Parks and her office. I had a 2:00 PM appointment for my annual physical, which I scheduled months in advance and took time off work to attend. I arrived at 1:56 PM--four minutes early--and was told by the receptionist that I was "late" and that the doctor might not see me. She contacted Dr. Anderson Parks, who declined to see me. I respectfully asked if they could check again, explaining that I had taken time off work and had arrived before my scheduled appointment time. A staff member (possibly a nurse or scheduler) came out, and followed up with the doctor, and I was told she would not see me. I was then informed that I was expected to arrive at 1:45 PM for a 2:00 PM appointment. However, this requirement was not clearly communicated to me. I showed proof on my phone of both my scheduled appointment time and my arrival, but the staff still refused to accommodate me. To make matters worse, when I asked to speak with a manager, I was given a contact name and number that turned out to be incorrect. When I called, I was told that no one by that name worked there. I have since filed a complaint with Endeavor Health, and they acknowledged that this situation was handled poorly. I regularly see many doctors and have had positive experiences elsewhere, which made this encounter even more awful. Unfortunately, this was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional medical office experiences I've had. I would not recommend this provider. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! The service is horrible. Trailer park staff AND doctor. They tried to sell me their own "natural" pills for high cholesterol because, according to the doctor, I have high cholesterol. I went to another doctor and my cholesterol level is normal. Perhaps it's because the doctor didn't tell me to fast prior to the blood being drawn. From the American Heart Association "If you aren't fasting when the blood sample is drawn, only the values for total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol will be usable. That's because the amount of LDL (bad) cholesterol level and triglycerides can be affected by what you've recently consumed." Staff is rude and argumentative. They billed me for a co-pay that I had a paid receipt. The reception puts me on hold FOREVER. The doctor doesn't return phone calls unless it's "you have high cholesterol, would you like to buy our...etc." Swedish Covenant is a good hospital, too bad this poor excuse of a doctor is affiliated to such a fine hospital. If you don't have high blood pressure, you will, if you visit this facility. read more

I have been a patient for nearly 8 years, and I love Dr. Anderson and find her very responsive and present with my care, not to mention very professional. I am not a huge fan of the somewhat chaotic busy-ness of the office staff, though, who seem to change often. I can't help but wonder about the health care crisis when it comes to small internal medicine practices like this. I miss Karen, who used to be the main person at Dr. Anderson's Wilmette office and seemed to be on top of everything. An example of recent woes: A couple of months ago, when I called to get a flu shot, I was told they ran out and I'd be put on a list and would get a call back to set up an appointment when they received more flu shots, so have been waiting since October, only to call myself today and find out they didn't get more shots and weren't planning to call me. Not cool. Otherwise, though, I trust Dr. Anderson with my care as my primary physician and like her very much, and that's really important. read more

Here is one bad review here. By the time when we got our HMO card, we found Dr. Elizabeth name online near by our place and she stated online (accept new patients) so we did add her as our primary doctor at our HMO card. we needed to see her twice for some how urgent, and we called for appointment, her staff kept telling us that she doesn't have time for new patients and the earlier time to see her is in 2 months, we ended seeing some1 else and now the bill came up really high as the insurance doesn't wanna cover anything....the insurance themselves asked us to call Dr. Elizabeth and ask her at least for a referral number as she was busy and unable to see us, her stuff refused to do that....MY POINT HERE, IF DR. ELIZABETH SHOULD BE CLEAR STATING ONLINE THAT SHE DOESNT WANNA SEE NEW PATIENTS. read more

Dr. Anderson is amazing. I have been seeing her for years and I agree with some of the comments below regarding her old office, however her new practice is absolutely AMAZING! She is such an attentive Dr., she follows up and takes the best care of her patients. I have referred family members to her and she has taken great care of them as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone who is looking for a doctor. She has been there for me at some of the worst and best times and I wouldn't leave her practice no matter what. I've known Dr Anderson for over 10 years and have always been impressed with her high level of personal care that she provides, her dedication to her patients and her desire to go above and beyond when attempting to treat patients who require more than the standard "cookie cutter" care. She stays on top of the latest medical news, newest medicines and has always been willing to step outside many doctors standard of care that would see me placed on several generic meds simply because they are cheaper and on the hospital's formulary. 1. It's impossible to get some one to actually answer the phone. I usually have to call 4 or 5 times in one day, and if I'm lucky I may have someone pick up the phone. Which is annoying when you want a routine check-up, and when you are really sick that's the last thing you want to deal with. Once I had an awful flu, and to avoid paying an atrocious urgent care co-pay I wanted to just go to my PCP. I left numerous messages saying how ill I was, and no one ever called back. 2. I had to get blood work done there. I was honestly afraid I'd get some disease while doing so. Nurses have never had a hard time finding a vein on me, but these nurses did. Three of them looked for a vein. Their "blood work" room is just a storage area and does not seam clean at all. To top it off, after being painfully poked for blood they didn't even run the correct test, so I was asked to go back. 3. When I did go back I made an evening appointment. I literally walked in right at my appointment time. Their clock is fast and Dr. Anderson was literally walking out the door as I walked in. I looked at the time on my cell phone, and it was exactly the time my appointment started. I work a 9-5 so my appointments are always in the evening. In the few times I've gone there, they have pulled this stunt to patients every time. (And the people aren't like 20 minutes late, that just don't stroll in 20 minutes early). Until my most recent visit (when the doctor had already left) I was always waiting at least 15 minutes. My OB/GYN is through the same hospital, Dr. Wos, I love her. Too bad not all the doctors are the same caliber. It's pretty clear cut this office is just in it for the cash and not to really help sick patients. read more

Update: After my initial visit, i was told i would need to wait until my health insurance approved my MRI, and then i would get a referral with instructions on how to schedule. A few days had passed and I had still heard nothing from the Dr.'s office, so i called my health insurance to see if they had approved the MRI. They told me i needed to call the physicians group who would be doing the approval for the MRI. So i called Managed Health Care and they had not received the MRI request from Dr. Anderson's office. When i called her office the receptionist said, "Oh, we haven't had it approved yet," and i said "Yeah, i know, because they never received the request." She mumbled an apology and said she would try faxing it again. Longer story short, I was finally able to schedule and have my MRI a little over a week after my initial appointment. I was told by the Swedish Covenant Hospital (their staff was very nice btw) that the results would be at Dr. Anderson's office in about two days. On the third day that i hadn't gotten a call from Dr. Anderson, i called and left a message. No response. After four messages and over a week after my MRI, Dr. Anderson called and left me a voicemail on my cell. I called the office less than 5 minutes later and she had left the office. She never even tried to call my work # that i listed. I told the office staff that i would really like to speak to her as i had some questions and would really, really like my results EXPLAINED to me instead of having to google things. They said they could have a NURSE call me back. Well, at this place you can't even get a nurse to call and explain your MRI results to you. I never heard anything else from Dr. Anderson's office. I am changing my doctor and getting a second opinion, of course, with HMO its a lot more complicated then that. Meanwhile, i am having to deal with issues that make even the simplest tasks extremely difficult, and some things unbearable. No one deserves to be treated like they don't matter, especially when it comes to their health. I urge anyone with other options to take them. read more

This place is a train wreck. It feels chaotic, dirty, and harried, very much like a free public health clinic. In fact, the public health clinic I went to when I lost my insurance was a better experience than Dr. Anderson's office! Dr. Anderson herself was generally gruff and cold, and incredibly condescending bordering on abusive to her staff. When I went to pay, they didn't even take credit cards...what is this, a hot dog stand? Abysmal. read more

This woman is not worth your time. I went in to see her because I had been having terrible headaches for weeks. When she took my information, she was condescending, impersonal and belittled my job as a preschool teacher. And she even told me I was wrong about one of my pre-existing conditions- I think I would know! She then examined me. After ten minutes I basically self-diagnosed myself with a sinus infection. She prescribed me antibiotics and sent me on my way. I'll give her 2 stars because it worked, but now I have ANOTHER sinus infection because she never identified the cause. My Mom was the first one to start seeing Dr. Elizabeth Anderson, starting about 10 years ago. She was so impressed with her that when my sisters and I got old enough, we all started to see her. My mom was diabetic and the "specialist" that she saw before Dr. Anderson was always too busy and never returned her calls. However, once my mom started seeing Dr. Anderson that all changed. Over the past several years my family has developed a great relationship with Dr. Anderson as well as the nurses she has on staff. I've never had an issue getting through or getting an appointment when needed. And a lot of times my appointments are last minute and they're always able to accommodate me. Not only is Dr. Anderson is a wonderful doctor but she has become an amazing friend. I don't think I could possibly trust another doctor more than I do her!!! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Anderson for about 2 years, and am extremely satisfied with her services. I left a previous doctor who always kept me waiting for appointments at least an hour and a half, and suggested my health problems would be resolved if I only found Jesus. Dr. Anderson is clear, direct, down-to-earth and really knows her stuff. I can talk to her frankly and feel heard and respected. I've never waited more than ten minutes after my appointment time, if that. And I've never had trouble getting an appointment within a few days. For minor emergencies (like unexplained stomach pain) and prescription renewals, her office has always been very accommodating, either handling the situation over the phone or calling me in immediately. read more

Dr. Anderson is a very helpful, outgoing, kind doctor. She listens and is great! The only thing I can complain about is there was a woman nurse who didn't really seem like she knew what she was doing. She was also very giddy and was joking around the whole time with her fellow nurses like she was a school girl. Not the worst thing in the world, but it was a tad bit unprofessional. It has taken me 10 years to write this review because I have been trying to move past the pain and anger that I have been caused due to the gross negligence of Dr. Anderson. I lost my mother in my early twenties because this doctor failed to properly and effectively care for her. While a patient of Dr. Anderson, my mother was prescribed the newest diabetes drug Avandia and began experiencing devastating side effects. My mother went to Dr. Anderson SEVERAL times to report that she was experiencing hair loss, rapid weight gain/ water retention, and at times shortness of breath. Dr. Anderson checked her thyroid and did nothing else! My mom died in the evening following a visit to Dr. Anderson's office where she was simply given a prescription and sent home. Unbeknownst to any of us , she was in heart failure and Dr. Anderson couldn't even be bothered at any of the previous appointments to look comprehensively at her symptoms. I should have sued this doctor when I had the chance but it looks like she's already doing a pretty good job of ruining her career based on these other reviews. My mom wasn't able to see my children be born and I have been suffering for a decade because I have no other family. Please do not go to this doctor and protect your loved ones from her! read more

I love Dr. Anderson! I have been a patient for years and have never had a bad experience. Dr. Anderson is not only smart, she is extremely down to earth and very easy to talk to. I never feel nervous to go to her office like I have with other doctors. I know that I will have a good experience. She genuinely cares about her patients. I also love the staff. They are always friendly and helpful. The nurses and medical aids are great and very professional. When calling, someone always answers and I always get an appointment set. Overall, I think Dr. Anderson and her staff are great! I hope they are around for a long time because I will be devastated if I have to find another doctor. read more

Dr. Elizabeth Anderson has been my doctor for over 5yrs, she is very smart, caring, listens to concerns and get the testing or answers you need. She may seem quick to some pt's but in my experience everything I have needed to ask or requested was taken care of, with compassion. Altho the office can be somewhat hectic, what Dr's office isn't when the MD is that appreciated or wanted. I recommend her to all of my friends, family, even new acquaintances if it comes up. I plan on staying with my MD for as long as she will have me, and I again would recommend her to anyone. One note, have a little patience, with any MD. read more

Updating my review of Dr. Anderson as she's changed offices and practices since my last review. While the new office is farther for me to travel, I continue to see Dr. Anderson by choice. It's close to 18 years now and several offices. Dr. Anderson fights for the best care for her patients(dealing with insurance) as both a consumer and provider can be a nightmare, she is determined to ensure that her patients get what they need for optimal health. Dr. Anderson is consultative, listens, advises and is direct when needed. I need a doctor that has my best interests at heart, regardless of the red tape bureaucracy of insurance companies. If you are looking for an honest, caring, and competent partner in your health, Dr. Anderson is the doctor for you. read more

one star is an overstatement. her staff is the worst I have ever dealt with. they don't deliver message, send requests for blood work or tests and they have the worst memory of anyone I know. I was a patient of Dr. Anderson's for several years and experienced many of the same challenges as others have mentioned. Outside of 1 staff member (Karen who regrettably left), they all act as if they are doing you a favor if you are asking to get results of tests. Dr. Anderson while in the room with you is very attentive, but she abruptly walks out and you think it is to get something, but she is done and on to another patient. I would call the office over and over again for test results, many times getting the answering machine and not receiving a call back. I'd do a blood draw on a Friday and be told to call Tuesday, then when I did be told either the doctor hasn't read the reports yet or would get back to me later that day and didn't call back. During 1 visit out of the blue she decided she needed to do a check on me for diabetes and said I was at the beginning stages. So for a couple of months I did the daily finger pricks and my levels rarely exceeded the levels expected of a diabetic. The final straw for me was when I was accepted onto medicare and my first visit was supposed to be complimentary. So I went in and during our conversation she asked questions which I answered. Nearly a year later I received a bill for that visit. Her office would say I had to contact the billing department, and the billing department would say I had to contact the office. Finally the office checked into it and said that since it was almost a year later, there was nothing that could be done and I would have to pay the bill, and that also since I had mentioned things outside of a routine physical she was justified in charging me (mind you, she was the one asking the questions which I answered). I immediately cancelled all remaining appointments with her and anyone she had referred me to. As someone else said, this is all about the money for her and I no longer trust her or her office, nor the Northshore Medical Group. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR SHE'S INCOMPETENT. This is THEE worst service I've ever had from a doctor. I had to wait for more than an hour to be seen. I told her I had a history of heart disease in my family and had to ask her to give me an EKG, which she had her staff give me in the office. She gave me a blood test for cholesterol that was completely wrong. The blood test I took from the lab was 235 compared to the 128 she gave me. This is a mistake that could be life threatening. When I told her staff, the girl said, "oh, I'll let her know". I had to beg her office to ask her to call me back to go over my blood test results, which she never did. They sent me some paper on high cholesterol, which according to the "hack" in-office test, I didn't I have. What credible doctor would do this? I was so fed up, I finally just went by the office to pick up the results to have another doctor read them. If you're serious about your health and addressing health issues, don't go to her. Her service doesn't even rate one star. STAY AWAY! read more

I gave one star for her pleasant personality. I pretty much echo the aforementioned criticisms. I am still awaiting the results of tests that I had last August. On the two or three occasions that someone in the office managed to answer a phone, I received only promises and excuses. I finally went to another doctor who got the results faxed to him in hours. I waited for 45 minutes in the waiting room to discover that another waiting patient had also been given a 2:00 appointment! But the worst has to be the fact that they almost NEVER answer the phone. After trying for four days, I called her office in the suburbs to report that the phone was out of order. They explained that they get "too busy" over there to answer the phones! read more

Dr. Anderson has been my doctor for more than 10 years. She asks great questions. She's very professional. She's speedy and efficient, so I'm not sitting in the office forever. Appointments run on time. She's always effectively treated whatever I had, the first time, even when it was something unusual. She went to bat with my insurance company when they wanted to switch my thyroid medicine to a generic. She's awesome and I always feel that she has my best interests at heart. I have actually seen her at all of her offices, because the staff is good about getting you into one of the other offices if it isn't her day at your regular office. I've been very pleased with her as my healthcare provider and intend to stay with her for a very long time! read more

Reading all of these comments about Dr Anderson and staff amuses me. Clearly the bad reviews are those of people who didnt take the opportunity to get to know everyone there. Nor do they understand what it takes to run a doctors office. I have been a frequent patient for over 2.5 years now and never had a bad experience. People are entitled to bad days, but dont forget the staff is the one that has to deal with your complaints and if the golden rule doesnt mean anything to you then you probably got treated like crap. Thats how I see it. I have treated them with respect, I always got it back in return. Dr Anderson is a highly recognized physician in the Swedish and North Shore groups. She has a direct approach to treatment therefor she may come off a little harsh sometimes if you are an oversensitive person but its bc she doesnt feed you bull. She is very knowledgeable and offers me support in ways for my conditions and for that I am utterly grateful. SO my advice to all the complainers...take a look at the doctors side of things put yourself in thier shoes bc its not all glitz and glam for them either and Dr Anderson treats you bc she cares unlike other physicians out there. So I give doctor anderson my best and her staff and I thank them for all they do. NO ONE IS PERFECT...when you find that perfect one write me a review. read more
