I wanted to get journals. Since they put all tidying together, I couldn't even take anything out to take a look. I was afraid if I take something, other item will fall out..... cards sets are 50% off. (2nd box) this store is connected to the cafe so you can enjoy after purchasing something!

Paper was invented by the Chinese early second century AD, albeit the growing digital 2012 presence, it continues to be a novelty in the artistic and creative craft world. As an avid scrapbooker, I always seek new papers of unique texture, embroidered, flock, or 120 lb. card stock for my personalized handmade cards or to produce a 12" X 12" page in my scrapbook. Personally I despise mass produced generic greeting cards especially birthday cards for lack of individualism as it does not resonate from one's heart. For five years, now a chapter sadly closed, I was known as KP's Paper Princess. Paper Source did not disappoint for their selection, yet it abates in the high prices. This Spring Street location is relatively new to Soho unlike its older sister in Brooklyn's Smith Street. Their business cards are printed on 80 lb. Kraft card stock containing 30% recycled post-consumer fiber which any paper aficionado can easily recognize.

Staff super friendly. Went to the stamps section and they had samples of stamps that were embossed. I asked the staff how the hell they make it look so cool. She kindly took me over to the craft table to do a demo, and I was sold! Brought a couple of stamps and a heat gun and some pigmented ink and card stock to make my own personalized cards for xmas and bdays. Great price and good selection of stamps and paper types.

So much amazing stationary and other paper related goods! But more importantly, staff is super helpful. I was in the neighborhood and looking for a new inkpad and asked one of the associates if I could see samples of a certain style/brand. She was more than happy to assist and had different colors and stamps and tested a few out for me. Woohoo!

cut paper card I bought. Adorable! My $ goes to Philippine women who escaped prostitution too. They made this card.

It's not cheap but the premium price is for quality, variety, and design. I used to get my stationary from Papyrus but after coming here, I don't think I'll go back there. At Paper Source, there are adorable, trendy, eco-friendly/human rights friendly cards ready for purchase or they have a huge assortment of paper for your arts and crafts needs. In my experience, men have never been crazy or impressed by cards. I go through the time to get the "perfect" card and usually it's followed by, aw thanks or that's nice. Well, I finally bought a card that my boyfriend honestly loved! It was an adorable card made of cut paper that said "You're the mac to my Cheese" and it featured a box of mac and cheese that said "So Cheesy." Ok yes, this sounds cheesy but if you could see this card, it's super cool. AND it's made by Phillipine women who escaped prostitution. That's a bold message to put on the back of a card but at the same time, it's awesome. There are real world problems out there and I'm happy to purchase a card that helps support human rights and the environment. My boyfriend really loved the card. He asked me where I got it and he said it was special. He also liked that my purchase helped in a good cause. He said he was definitely going to keep this card. Thanks Paper Source for providing me a memorable card for our anniversary!

I am in love with all the beautiful paper

Their…read morecoupons aren't as good nowadays as they used to be and I don't have as much time as I used to have either but I still love coming here and browsing. The store layout here is a big congested and feel the checkout area and online order area could be better designed. I placed an order online for store pickup and it was ready in less than 10 minutes after I placed the order, which was quite impressive (I couldn't go until a few days later). The pickup area is located to your left as soon as you get off the escalators. There really wasn't a shelf to get your items and your bags situated after you pick up your item and the waiting area was quite small. No one was there when I went to pick up but a line of about 5 people behind me formed as I got my item making it a bit tricky to navigate to leave the area while also trying to stuff my item into my bags. The general checkout area was quite tight as well. It's long and it's sometimes hard to see if a self checkout counter is open. Self checkout itself is pretty easy to use and I like how the machine is able to detect if the handheld scanner was properly placed back in its slot before it moves forward with checking you out. I was able to find my account easily and apply all my coupons during my transaction. The staff I asked about inventory were quite knowledgeable and were able to point me to the right aisle to get the things I needed. things were well stocked and neatly displayed as well.

I appreciate arts and crafts stores though mainly rating 3 stars because sadly this is the only…read moreMichael's store left in Manhattan, which unfortunately means certain areas of the store can get really picked over--especially seasonal items--right before peak holidays. To some degree I understand that many retailers are tighter on inventory to reduce how much needs to be sold at deeper discounts after certain holidays are over. However this also means certain things run out and there's no selection left which could also mean lost sales, which was the case when I came to look for a couple Christmas-related products a week before Christmas and much of that section looked decimated outside of wrapping paper, kitchen/dining supplies, some decorations and wearable accessories. They were already setting up for Valentine's Day. Walking around the store, I still appreciated that this location is still around, it's been a while since I've visited so I was glad to see still a strong selection of frames, scrapbooking supplies, paints, yarns and ribbons/trimmings. They also installed more self-service checkout machines. The shopping stop wasn't altogether unfruitful in that I picked up a pack of baked goods boxes (to place home-made cookies/pastries inside before gifting to others). I hope next time to find more of what I need!
