The coffee experience at Elizabeth's is only outmatched by its friendly staff. Wish I lived in Hill City so I could visit daily.

The experience from beginning to finish was as follows…read more.. We enter, unsure whether to seat ourselves, and are asked, albeit almost silently, to pick a table of our liking. And upon choosing a table, we were given menus by our server, who didn't have a name tag, so I couldn't reference her specifically, and asked to select a drink. After getting water, we eagerly wait for 15-ish minutes for our waitress to take our order. After placing our order of two burgers, nothing special, we waited patiently for our food. Keep in mind, we arrived at 8:10, 50 minutes before closing. We then waited 30 minutes for our burgers, only getting a light apology after 25. Upon receiving our food, we were FAMISHED, and it tasted good! But I think practically everything tastes good when you're hungry, am I right?!? After GOBBLING our burgers down, we received the check at approximately 9:05, and the waitress was eagerly looking at the screen when we politely left a tip justifiable for the service. I'm one always to tip a server, even if the service isn't the best. At the end, we were sent off with an "okay" and nothing more. I'm not one to complain, but a thank-you would've been nice since we weren't rude to her about the insane wait time. Ultimately, be warned: when you come here, it's a cute place to take family when passing through, but not when you're on a time crunch. In short, the food is pretty good, somewhere between 6/7 out of 10, but the service was very subpar, leaving us with a sour taste in our mouths.

Came on a weekday for lunch. Service is average to slow and there were only a few people inside…read more Prices range from $12 lunch weekday specials to $15-25 for full entree items. I ordered the bison burger and an extra sweet potatoes fries. The food took a very long time for our group of 12. Probably about 20 minutes. We chose our own table and basically had to put our own chairs together as they did not offer any help in moving them besides acknowledging our party size. The bison burger was dry with a bit of crispy exterior texture on the patty that made it taste somewhat better. The bun was not special and although we asked for medium rare, it was more like medium to medium well done. The potato fries tasted good and were soft inside with a nice firm and slightly crunch outer casing. The sweet potato fries were limp and not very good unless you like them greasy, soft, and starchy. In hindsight, I would have just eaten the lunch special hamburger and fries. They also had a $5 upgrade to salad bar option.

We were camping at the KOA here so decided to try the Peak Grill and Taproom on our last evening…read more We were still on Eastern Time Zone, so came in around 4 for dinner. We were greeted with: "Where would you like to sit?" I replied that we hadn't been there before.. would have liked to know our options (more on that later) but the disinterested hostess grabbed a couple menus and took off. We didn't get far - there was a small table for two overlooking the deck (I might have liked to sit there had I known...), right next to a short ramp down about 12" from the hostess area. I believe this area was originally a porch, so the floor wasn't very heavily reinforced. To the point that every time a staff person came through, it was as though Hermann Munster was trudging through - our entire table shook, my iced tea actually spilled over the top. This went on through our entire meal. I would have said something, but there was no obvious manager in sight, and what could they have done? Perhaps moved us, but I grit my teeth and went on with Life. On a better note, the food was very good: I had the Buffalo Meatloaf with mashed potato. The gravy was a bit overpowering - it's a shame that this is the first time I'd had buffalo and have no idea what it tastes like. I should have ordered gravy on the side. My wife had macaroni & cheese with a piece of grilled chicken. We both had small salads to start. We're not heavy eaters, and usually only get through about 1/2 of our meals, so we were done rather quickly. Unfortunately, there was no sign of our server for ~10 minutes while we waited patiently. There was only one other party in the room, so it's not like she was occupied with other customers. I finally had to go ask for our check at the hostess station. Even then, someone else brought our check. We're usually big tippers, and frequently will tip 100% for great service. We tipped the nominal 15% and left. We'd go again... maybe. But we wouldn't sit anywhere near the ramp.

If you want a local spot with heart and the best homemade pie in the world, stop here. Whatever you order, get the potato salad on the side. Trust me on this! And for the love of all that is holy, get a piece of pie. It might be the best coconut cream pie I've ever had. Our server (was her name Jenny? Maybe?) was incredible and was literally running circles around everyone else working. For real. I assumed she was the owner, but I asked, and she wasn't. I hope they appreciate her because I'm pretty sure she could run the world! What are you waiting for? Go get the pie!!!

Website said breakfast all day. Ordered coffee and orange juice. When drinks arrived and we tried to order breakfast we were told it was too late.(?) Put in order for sandwiches. Thirty minutes later waitress informed us Lincoln chicken salad sandwich wasn't available. From the time we sat on the deck until our sandwiches arrived so they have was a full hour. No joke. I won't be back. Have better things to do than wait on food all day.
