We randomly came across Miner's Cup while driving along Mt. Rushmore Road, and it ended up being one of those places we're really glad we stopped at. It's a tiny setup with only a few parking spots and a drive-through, but they make great use of the space. The menu is surprisingly extensive for such a small spot -- specialty coffee drinks, Lotus energy drinks, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, and plenty of quick meal options. We tried the cappuccino, caramel macchiato, and the Gold Digger sandwich with chicken, avocado, roasted tomatoes, and provolone on ciabatta. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying. What I liked most is that they don't try too hard to be trendy or overcomplicated -- it's simply well-made coffee and solid grab-and-go food. Service was great. This place was a block away from where we stayed (EO Bungalows) and it was so worth the visit. We frequented this place so much that we made 3 stops during our vacation! What a gem of a place to have in the city of Custer! Don't be deceived by the pics online, the burritos and sandwiches are rather large and filled with deliciousness! The coffee is exceptional as well, I had the sweater weather and the German chocolate flavors were phenomenal! Service isn't the fastest, but it's delivered with a smile and all the small tone charm:) we love waiting for our food and beverages on the meat benches they have at their walk up window. Picked this up for breakfast two days in a row on our way into the park. While you can order online, we decided to park and walk up to the ordering window. They took our orders and gave us a buzzer, then after about 15 minutes enjoying the umbrella-shaded patio on the side, we walked back to pick up our coffee and breakfast sandwiches/burritos. The Prospector was on the smaller side, but I was still only able to finish about half of it. It was nicely packed with a good amount of meat and cheese, and a surprisingly large amount of fresh avocado. The server recognized us on our second day back and was witty and friendly with both of us. This coffee shop was practically out the front door of our hotel (Chalet Motel). We have been to Custer several times and we did not know it was there. It is a drive thru or call to go place. They do have a walk up window which I used twice. There were many choices of coffee and several breakfast sandwich options. Everything I tried was very good. The staff was super friendly and helpful. It's a drive through which is genius because most people visiting this area are heading towards a national park and are eager to get going. Since we were doing just that we wanted a quick bite. This fantastic lil drive thru makes the best burritos! I swung by mid-morning and had to wait a while since I was fourth in line, but I'll tell ya it was worth it! My meal consisted 16 oz Dirty Chai Latte ($5.50), a Wild West breakfast burrito (sausage, egg, hash brown, caramelized onions, bell peppers, shredded jack cheese on a flour tortilla, $6.00) and a piece of Coffee Cake ($3.50). The burrito was phenomenal! It was huge and generously stuffed with the goods. They used a hash brown patty instead of loose shreds and I absolutely loved it. I didn't even need any hot sauce like I nearly always want on my breakfast burritos. It was SO DAMN GOOD. I'm astonished it was only $6.00. The Dirty Chai was perfectly made! Just the right amount of sweetness and richness. The Coffee Cake was alright. I thought it kind of tasted greasy, however it was super moist which was great. It felt like a cozy little spot, and despite what seemed like a long line, our service was quick. My pineapple Lotus Energy smoothie with passion fruit popping boba was delicious! The best food in Custer, SD! I eat here multiple times every time I am in Custer. Their sandwiches are unique and fresh. Love the flavor combos and care in each sandwich. The wraps are my favorite but the baked goods and coffees are just as amazing! We love that we can order online and just drive up to pickup our order. Preface-- be patient or order ahead. It is a small coffee shop with a nice menu with a drive through. So keep that in mind especially if you're in a rush, might need to go elsewhere depending when you get there and the line ahead. Otherwise, they are fairly speedy at getting your order through. With that said, we really enjoyed this coffee/breakfast grab and go location. The barista (we had the same one both days) was a really nice young man. Provided great service at the window. Got our orders fast. The menu is simple and we like that. Nothing complex to ensure it's done well. The old timer biscuit sandwich is my favorite and my husband enjoyed their lone star wrap. Made well, not very salty or greasy! The coffee is fair. I liked it but if you enjoy bold dark flavor coffee, their blend might be on the light-medium side. This place gets really busy. I just stopped by for a couple of cups of coffee. The coffee was OK, but I would've preferred stronger coffee. They do have options for non-dairy creamer. The line for the drive-through in your car is fairly short, but you can park on the side and go to a walk up window. The guy in front of me ordered online and they told him 15 minutes, but when he got there they told him it would be 15 more minutes. The breakfast menu looks good, I may try that later this week. UPDATE: I ordered online a few days later and went to pickup at the 15 minute time the app told me. My arrival time was about an hour earlier than my prior visit. Everything was ready and perfect, including all of the drink and food modifications. The app told me that MC was out of the wrap that cane with my sandwich, but I was ok with a flour tortilla substitution. Tasty food at a good price. MC recommended an Americano for stronger coffee, and it does taste much better that the regular drip. The drinks were well made and the food was fresh. The croissant sandwich was really good and the monkey bread muffin was nice and soft. It could have probably used more cinnamon, but other than that, really good. We ordered at the walk up window and it's nice that they give you a pager to wait for your food. Let me tell you about Miner's Cup! This place is what small-town America is run off of. Not only do they have charm and character with their building. But the people that work here are genuinely nice people. Their breakfast is delicious. You can tell they go the extra mile with little things like your coffee cake or donuts being served warm! Coffees were a little on the weak side however being from Oregon where you can see 5 coffee shops on any large street corner, were a little particular.
