Fertility is personal and emotional and scary but choosing the right doctor makes ALL the difference. The best decision I made was choosing Dr. Jan Shifren at Newton Wellesley Hospital. At my initial assessment, Dr. Shifren walked me through every single step of the process and answered all the questions I could come up with. It only takes a quick google search to learn she's internationally recognized as one of the top physicians in her field of expertise and she's been published in more journals than I could count. What a google search doesn't tell you is how truly wonderful she is as a person. Dr. Shifren is so thoughtful, knowledgeable, transparent, upfront and honest. I never felt rushed at our appointments (virtual and in-person) and Dr. Shifren was by my side, from start to finish. She has a truly incredible team of nurses, technicians and administrators who keep you feeling positive throughout the journey and take great care of you at each appointment. After meeting with Dr. Shifren, I worked with her billing department to understand all the financial costs associated with the procedure and they gave me a very easy to understand price breakdown. A few months after our initial appointment it was March of 2022, and I was ready to go. At that time I started working very closely with Zuzana, her incredible nurse who was by my side for the next 2 weeks walking me through the process. Zuzana and her colleagues were very quick to respond to my emails with questions or concerns and always had all the answers right away. Once the process begins, you are going into their office at NWH anywhere from 2-4 times a week for blood draws and ultrasounds. All the ultrasound technicians are great and be sure to get your blood drawn by Grace, she will make your day every time you see her. I felt really taken care of on an emotional and physical level which is what you want and what you need to get through this process. Perhaps there isn't another known solution for my irregular bleeding, but it's unacceptable to shame a patient like that. Like any drug, Birth control has side effects and women deserve to know the full truth so they can make educated choices on their own. Not be shamed or scared by their health care providers without proper information. Perhaps Sakamuri only cares to prescribe medications so she can cut herself a check. It's truly sad that myself and other women have to face this type of judgement in a space that is supposed to be safe for everyone to make informed decisions about their own bodies.

I was previously going to an OB in Brookline through B&W and I will have to say I prefer NW OBG/YN over B&W. NW OB/GYN's office is so much more inviting and relaxed and the staff here is really awesome. The wait can be long sometimes due to all of a sudden births but the staff keeps you updated and lets you know right away if there is a problem. Dr. Davis is a great doctor as well, when I first met her we went over my pregnancy, any questions I had and gave me great advice to my situation that I had. Appointments here are easy to get and the service is just great, even the nurses and the medical assistant's are wonderful as well. My previous office was so cold and uninviting that I am glad I changed and will stay at NW OB/GYN as long as I can!

Emerging from the pandemic, I wanted to get my eyes checked again so I called for an appointment. I was given an appointment and then I received a call that my appointment would be canceled unless I called to discuss my insurance. I have Tufts Health Together presently, which is a MassHealth plan. I have had lots of other types of other insurance in the past, and this is only temporary. When I finally talked to Dr. Bahn's office, the woman who spoke to me was very, very curt with me (as if she didn't want to waste her time with me), as she told me Dr. Bahn didn't take my insurance and that she was canceling my appointment. I asked her how much it would cost to pay completely out of pocket, and she said and I quote: "It's $175.00 just to walk in the door." I really like Dr. Bahn but I will never return as her patient even if my next insurance is the best that money can buy. People should be nicer to one another, especially now.

The sudden onset of vision loss was of great concern to me. Upon contacting Dr. Bhan's office, Dr Bhan made time to immediately see me, no days of waiting. My access to her care was immediate and excellent. Dr Bhan's outstanding "bedside manner" is warm, reassuring and highly informative. Her compassionate demeanor immediately gave me great confidence and reassurance that all would be fine. Upon my arrival at her office, I was immediately taken into the exam room. The exam environment is clean and filled with what appeared to be every conceivable type of equipment she would need, as well as several models of the human eye and associated structures. These items help me understand what was wrong with my sight and how Dr. Bhan recommended we solve the problem. I decided to go forward with having both eyes corrected. Karen in the front office was a very valuable asset to me. She explained all the pre-op requirements, ordered specific medication for pre-op preparations and was there to assist us every time we called. Thank you, Karen! When I arrived at the hospital to have the procedure performed the intake and day surgery preparations were fast and easy. Dr. Bhan greeted me in pre-op, once again thoroughly explained what was about to happen and out, I went! After two weeks of recovery my sight is 20/15 and I have never been able to see so clearly. When it came time for a new doc, I dropped my assumptions that a female OBGYN would be better and I went with Dr. Daly. I could not be happier! He has always made me feel very comfortable... (well, as comfortable as one can be while having a pap) He is always professional and takes his time to answer any questions I may have. Dr. Daly even has a sense of humor!! Something I feel a lot of doctors unfortunately lack when speaking with their patients. In addition, Dr. Daly never pontificates or speaks down to you... another thing that I feel a lot of doctors tend to do. I've had many physicians speak to me as if I'm a child, or as if my I.Q. is somewhere around room temperature.
