Like many on Yelp say - I wish there was an option for zero stars. I made an appointment about two weeks in advance for Elk Grove Carpet Cleaning to come to my house to clean the carpets, entryway tile, kitchen countertops and couches in preparation for Thanksgiving. I had hired them once about four years ago to clean only the carpets and so chose to schedule with them again. The first time I called and left a message I did not receive a call back. I tried again a week later and that time received a call back from Robert who set my appt. for 10am this past Fri. 11/19. At 9:45 on the morning of my appt. Robert called me and told me he couldn't find his phone and so he was going to be late. When I asked what time he thought he would arrive he said that if he could not find it in the next 10-15 minutes he was just going to leave. When by 10:45 I still had not seen or heard from him I took a chance and tried his phone and he answered and said he was on his way. He did not arrive until 11am and although he thanked me for my patience he offered no apology or explanation as to why it took him an hour to drive to my house when we are both located in Elk Grove. He then spent 5 hours in my house, which even when you consider time spent talking still seemed excessive to me for how small my home is. He did clean the kitchen sink and a small portion of the kitchen floor at no charge and I thanked him but I personally felt it was the least he could do for being an hour late to the appointment. His Yelp page states that he accepts credit cards however when he was finished I asked about that in order to confirm that he did and he told me he does not (he said that he does not accept any online payment services like PayPal or Venmo either) and asked that I pay by check. I stayed off of the carpets for a day and a half to allow them to fully dry and once they were I discovered what a terrible job was done on them. There are dirt streaks covering every inch of it, my carpet looks like it has stripes. I tried vacuuming over them multiple times in every direction as well as running my hands/socked feet over them to make sure it was not simply the carpet fibers lying in opposite directions but that was not the problem. My carpets had been in need of being cleaned but they were not THAT dirty, and were definitely not dirty in all of the areas that are now streaked with dirt. I contacted Robert at 9am yesterday, Monday 11/22, to make him aware of the problem and he replied right away that he would call me later that morning and would get it fixed immediately because he knew I had company coming, that it was fixable and he would explain what happened but that he wanted to see it in person. I told him that he was welcome to come by to take a look but that due to my work schedule and my need to get the house put back together before Thanksgiving on Thurs. I did not have time to have the carpets cleaned/wait for them to dry again. I work from home and let him know I would be away from the house for lunch and again after work but that other than that I would be home. He never replied and never called. In an effort to give him the benefit of the doubt I waited until 5pm before texting him to let him know I would prefer a refund of the carpet cleaning portion of my payment. Because I did not know if he had already cashed the check I let him know that I put a stop payment on it and that if he would give me his address I would mail him a replacement check. I followed up by texting him pictures of the carpet. He never replied. Unfortunately the stop payment did not go through in time and the next morning (this morning, Tuesday 11/23) I discovered that the check had cleared overnight. At 9am I called both Robert's phone as well as the second number he had called me from on the morning of the appointment and left messages on both explaining the situation and asking to be sent a refund check for the carpet cleaning as well as the stop payment fee. I also followed this up with a text to Robert where I asked him to please call me or reply to my text. I never received a response to any of my phone calls or text messages. It is now after 4pm. I have included screen shots of the text messages as well as pictures of the carpets after Robert's "cleaning". *I apologize that Yelp posted the screenshots and pictures out of order. read more

I had Rob (owner) of Elk Grove Carpet Cleaning come out last year and even though he was almost 2 hours late he was nice, polite and did a great job and even some extras without charging, so of course I gave him a 5 star Yelp review and decided to call him again for this year, however this time he didn't even show up even after I confirmed him twice, so I scrambled to find another company who was able to come out the day Rob no showed. This new company was great and also told me that Rob at Elk Grove Carpet Cleaning has quite the reputation for standing people up and that I unfortunately was one of the many he has done this to. I just had Elk Grove Carpet Cleaning come out to clean my 3 rooms and 1 area rug two days ago. I had a great experience with this company. Robert was able to give me a competitive quote over the phone right away when I called. He was professional and polite. I was able to have the work done with in a week due to my schedule, which was great! The day of service he called me to let me know his approximate time of arrival which was our scheduled time. When he arrived he spent a moment looking at the rooms and area rug to make sure any concerns I had where addressed. As he brought the cleaning hose into the house he was very careful and respectful of my floors, walls and home. I appreciated that! He was not rushed and did a through job in all the rooms and on my older area rug. A couple hours after he left the carpet in 2 of the rooms lifted and "bubbled". I was concerned and called him right away. Leaving a voicemail I also called the company that I purchased the carpet from. I got the answer to my situation. They said it should lay flat again after completely drying and if not they would come out to re-stretch it. Robert called me back shortly after that. I shared the answer I received from the original company I bought it from. He was gracious and offered to come back if I would like him too, he mention he is a certified carpet installer as well and he could stretch the carpet if need be. He could have bowed out of the situation but he made this offer. I thought that was over and above. I would recommend him to family and friends! By the way all is well with the carpet. First let me say how friendly Robert is, from the moment we spoke on the phone to when he completed the job. He answered my call quickly, gave me a quote over the phone and was able to come out the next day. When he arrived, he gave me a run down on how he would be cleaning my couch and chairs. He was super respectful and interacted with my whole family. He did a fantastic job! He was very thorough in his cleaning especially with all the dog hair and the blemishes. He even cleaned the pillows! I am very pleased with how he cleaned everything and would most definitely use his services again! I highly recommend him. We contacted EG Carpet Cleaning to work their magic on our carpet and tile. Given their Yelp reviews and the fact that they share our home town, Robert and Lisa were the only folks that we bothered to call for our inaugural floor cleaning. They're good people that work extremely hard, and do an outstanding job! Our flooring hasn't been this clean since we bought the place brand spankin' new. And their equipment...well it's just as powerful and effective as those national guys. With respect to rates, we found EG Carpet Cleaning to be very, very reasonable given the amount of time that they spent on our house. And if you want to remove hard water spots from household glass and chrome on a DIY basis, ask Robert about the cleaning products that he sells....because they work like you wouldn't believe! Robert and Lisa were great. They arrived on time. Walked through the whole house with me and explained in detail what they were going to do. They put cones on corners to protect the walls. I was impressed. The carpets look awesome. We just moved in and they were able to remove all the furniture indents in the carpets from the previous owners.
