I don't even think they deserve a one star, the staff made me feel VERY uncomfortable. They caused me extreme distress due to their constant staring while I tried to eat me dinner. They even said god damnit to one of my family members and find that language not appropriate for a family friendly event center. Multiple people in the party agreed with the response of the venue. Also, the venue does not have enough bathrooms to accommodate. Very disappointing and I hope they can do better, but if you would like an enjoyable event this is not the place!! read more

If I could give them negative stars, I would. The only thing I liked about this place is the view. Sure, it's a great venue because it has a nice view but let's talk about the owner. September 10th, last Saturday, was my daughter's wedding which means we all had a lot that we were dealing with and as the mother of the bride I had the job of dropping the wedding dress off at the venue prior to anyone arriving so the photographer could take photos of the dress. When we got there, we pulled all the way up tothe shop that's right behind the building to hand the dress off quickly to the photographer and leave. It would have been about a minute or less that we were there doing the exchange but the owner, Virginia Tate, came out and began yelling at us for where we pulled up saying we could not park there. Mind you, my husband didn't exit the car nor did he turn off the ignition. As I explained I was the mother of the bride just dropping the dress off and leaving right away she continued to yell saying, "Well, I am the owner!" Next thing you know I was in tears and asking her to please just let me get the dress dropped off so I could get out of there but she continued to yell and all I could do was turn around and ignore her and talk to the photographer, quickly drop the dress off and get out of there. She still continued to yell as I was getting into my car. Mind you, we had already moved our car like she asked us to, as soon as she asked us to. This was a most unpleasant experience for a mother of the bride whose day was already jam-packed with enough stress and emotion. This was so unprofessional, so unwelcoming, and so completely unnecessary and a horrible way for my daughter's special day to start. For this reason that owner can keep her view and I will never give her anymore of my business. I hope you do the same because this is not a way anybody should be treated, let alone someone who has paid them thousands of dollars to use their venue. Not worth it! Luckily, the wedding all went very well, most likely because she was not there! Not sure if the food or service is good because I've never been there but I'll never know because I will never go back! Funny thing is, as I've talked with others about this horrible experience they said they've all heard this about the owner. BRIDES BEWARE! read more

Terrible customer service and handling of bookings! My fiance and I are planning a wedding in CDA from Los Angeles. Knowing that CDA is a popular wedding destination in the summer, we visited over a year in advance of our date to scout locations for our rehearsal party. Elk Point's amazing location quickly drove it to the top of our list. This is when the troubles started. During our visit, and in subsequent follow up, we clearly discussed the date that we wished to book the location. In conversations with our planner, Elk Point clearly indicated that we would need to place the deposit in order to reserve the location, but that the contract could be negotiated and signed at a later date. When I called to pay the deposit, I was told that no, the contract needed to be signed at the same time that the deposit was paid. Because of several points of negotiation in the contract, it was decided that we would submit our desired revisions, and reach an understanding, then submit and pay. It was clearly defined, and agreed to, that we wanted the date and that it was simply a formality to finalize the contract and pay the deposit. After submitting the desired revisions, I didn't hear anything for a week. After following up several times, I was told that my contact was out of town and had sent to her partner to review. They informed me that they had another couple submit the contract and deposit for our date and it was no longer available. After sending an email inquiring what had happened between our previous conversation and their giving the date away, I received a clipped response from the VP informing me that it was "first come, first served" and that we were welcome to other available dates but that contract revisions would not be entertained. Mind you, the primary revisions in the contract were 1.) the verbally agreed to guest count and 2.) that they be responsible for damaged caused by their staff during the event vs. us being liable as outlined in their stock form. Now my fiancé and I are left scrambling for a venue. It's truly disappointing to have such an experience when trying to plan what is supposed to be such a joyful and wonderful event. It is particularly disappointing that this happened because we were misled and did not receive timely follow up by Elk Point. In an age where customer service and experience is so important, it is hard to imagine there are still people that run a business this way. Be particularly mindful of this if you look at this venue and make sure that you get everything from them in writing! read more

Well, unlike the previous guy, I had a wonderful experience working with the staff at Elk Point! I had a site visit, a contract, and a booking all pretty quickly! They answered all of my questions and at first there were a lot of rules, but it's on their private property, so I understand, like they don't want people smoking all over the place (gross!). They still let me decorate how I wanted and the view was just spectacular! read more

Beautiful view that can't be beat, got married there July, 2016. They do have a lot of rules, but nothing that I thought was overly unreasonable, and we didnt have any issues that I was made aware of. The one complaint I do have, is that they ran out of our beer selection. They let us choose a couple of beers from their list, so we chose coors light($2 a bottle) and a different beer ($6 a bottle). We ran out of the cheaper beer well before the end of the night. Therefore, people were forced to switch to the more expensive one. I feel that if I am unable to provide my own alcohol, and am paying for it from their list, they should at least make sure they have an adequate stock on hand. Other than that my wedding was seriously the best day ever, and they were very helpful in the planning process and quickly answered my questions and concerns. They were accomodating to my special requests (they stocked a wine for me they didn't usually carry.) I still have people commenting to me about how amazing my wedding venue was. read more
