In Room Surprise - Champs and Chocolate Strawberries

This little inn is centrally located just a few blocks from the lake! It's so perfect. I personally stayed in the summer and was fond of the whole experience. Best part was the surprise waiting when I opened the door to my room. 10/10 recommend

Came here to visit family. Loved the historic feel without being too pretentious. Room was clean; and the self check in was flawless. We'll have to come back!

Message showing the manager promising a refund-this is a lie.

If you wish to have a haunting experience, this is the place for you. Get ready to be ghosted and have a zero customer service experience. The place is empty. I provided my office phone number and had no idea that the only correspondence would be through text messages. I arrived in Spokane, WA on April 30 en route from the airport to the hotel, I called to see if I could drop my luggage. The phone message said they were helping another customer, however, I arrived and the place was locked up. The phone number on the door said to call the emergency number that had been provided, which I never received. Finally, after banging on the door for 30 minutes, someone surfaced and told me I could just check in since my room was ready. She finally got me a key code that worked and I went downtown. When I came back to unpack, I realized there was no iron available. I thought I will just steam my clothes in the bathroom when I take a shower. At 6:40 AM I get in the shower which has the water pressure of a watering can that runs lukewarm. I was unable to rinse the shampoo from my hair. I began calling and texting the emergency number over 25 times for an hour with no response. I went in and out of the main house, with the thought that if they were setting up breakfast someone should surface, but no. Finally, I decided to make arrangements at OneLakeside and left a message that I was leaving. When the manager finally responded-over 3 hours later, she said she would refund my stay. Fast forward to later that afternoon, she said, my video of the shower drizzle proved that the shower worked and that I would not be getting back my refund as I broke the cancellation policy. To follow up, I attempted calling, texting, calling and texting---only to be ghosted again. I have reported to the Better Business Bureau with no response. It was shocking! The only correspondence I received from them was the initial email confirmation. I am thankful I at least arrived early and was able to summon someone from the depths of the hotel when I arrived or I would have been stranded. Do not expect anyone to ever answer the phone or respond quickly. Shannon, the new manager, needs to find a new career, as customer service is not her gift. She lies and sneakily changed all the phone messages after our first interaction. They should be held accountable but never takes responsibility for their poor service. They did provide me two gift cards for a local brunch restaurant. She made it seem like this was to accommodate the mix up when I arrived, but after reading other comments, this is their version of a bed and breakfast. She was mad because I took them, but they were supposed to provide breakfast service. Shannon also told me I should have called ahead to request an iron...like how would that ever happen? Be warned---this place is better left empty without guests as there is no staff on-site to provide any service. I can't imagine what the recourse would be if there was an emergency greater than a trickling shower.

Very nice hotel. We stayed there one night for a belated birthday trip. It was Sunday so perhaps that explains why we had the place to ourselves which was cool. They have a pool table in the front room and a shuffleboard table and a small movie room in the basement. Great selection of teas and hot chocolate in the kitchen which is self serve. Also had some cookies and chocolates out. We stayed in a second floor king with a private bath. There was a portable heater as well as a radiator to keep warm. The bed was comfortable and clean. Very quiet with no street noise but again it was a Sunday night so that may have been why. Fairly close to downtown but maybe not walking distance for some. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Room #1 private bathroom. Really nice shower inside of the tub.

We stayed in room #1 in the main house. The house was fairly empty when we first arrived, so it felt like we had the whole house to ourselves. The room was certainly spacious and the bed was comfortable for us. We had a private bathroom in our room which I appreciated. There is a different room where the private bathroom is actually across the main hallway from the room. The breakfast was nice and they featured some local bakery items and products for you to try. They offer a "happy hour" in the evenings, but it is really just the opportunity to buy a glass of wine from them. The main room is fairly spacious so that you had the opportunity to meet others while having breakfast or you could choose a quiet corner to be by yourself, if that's more your style. The hotel had a small workout room located next door and a hot tub outside by their courtyard. The downstairs area that is mentioned as a game room or tv room, would be better suited to kids than adults in my opinion. It's kind of small and dark due to the fact that it's in the basement of an older home. We were able to walk to Tubbs Park and to the downtown area from the hotel. You couldn't really see the downtown area, but it wasn't that far and it made our stay there that much better.

This is a top notch bed and breakfast. Attention to detail and fantastic customer service. Gorgeous historical building in the perfect location. I HIGHLY recommend. They were incredibly accommodating and so good with communication. The bed was so comfortable and it truly felt like home away from home. I can't wait for the opportunity to stay again!

A memorable stay... The Blackwell lived up to it's reviews on our stay this weekend and I'm very happy we chose to stay here. The character and charm of this downtown historical home are wonderful. A 4 star review is probably more in order if all things are taken into consideration, but due to the charm and the last minute handling of an item we left behind, 5 star it is. To be fair though, I'll share some of the highlights and challenges below so that the hotel can work out the kinks. HOUSE ITSELF (Rating 5.0) The house is clean and well maintained and the artwork, woodwork and the decor is beautiful. SERVICE (Rating 4.0) Everyone was extremely nice to us and helpful. It is run as a "hotel" however. The feel of the house is "Bed & Breakfast" and usually you get to know the proprietors. But this is a "hotel" so don't set that expectation. We interacted with about 4 different young ladies working at the house at different times throughout our long weekend and they were all very sweet. FOOD (Rating 3) The coffee in the rooms is GREAT! We tried the breakfast the first morning. (Saturday) The yogurt and fruit were wonderful. They offered pastries and bagels which were fine. The quiche was cold however and the sausage should not have been served IMO. We went down at about 9:30am. Maybe it was too close to the cutoff at 10am? We went out to breakfast the other mornings due to this experience and to try local restaurants as there are many. They have drinks in the fridge and you can grab one any time and they'll add it to your bill which is nice. HEATING (Rating 2) Some of the issues below just come from it being a old house. For instance heating. The entire main house uses a single thermostat I think. But the entire house is not the same temperature and it goes up and down all night. During the winter the swings in temperature can be huge. I also went out to the hot tub and found that it was cold. Bummer. ROOM 2 (Rating 3) We stayed in room 2 the first night and room 3 the following nights. Room two is in the main house at the top of both sets of stairs. (From Living Room and Kitchen) It doesn't have an in-suite bathroom. The bathroom is located across the hall and there are two other entrances to bedrooms across from it as well. So plan on getting dressed to go to the bathroom or take showers. The bathroom is yours however and you do get to lock the bathroom which is nice. This room has an amazing little sitting area with two leather recliners that are AWESOME! One problem I didn't see in any other reviews with Room 2 is that it is directly above the heat pump. If you're like me (from another part of the country where heat pumps are not used), and don't know what a heat pump is.. it's a very loud Air Conditioning Unit that runs backwards creating heat during the winter. Add to this that the home uses very small holes that the heat comes into the rooms creating a low whistling noise and sleeping becomes difficult unless you enjoy a harmony of noises while you sleep. I don't. The room has a sleep number bed. And while bed comfort is a subjective topic, I didn't find the bed comfortable at all on any setting. I'm spoiled with regards to mattresses though. ROOM3 (Rating 4.25) Room 3 was MUCH better than Room 2 even though you can still hear the Heat Pump and whistling vents. It's a little further towards the back of the house and it has an in-suite bathroom and a fireplace. The bathroom is beautiful with dual shower heads. The fireplace heats the room in about 2.5 seconds. Due to this, keeping it on is almost impossible unless you open the windows or turn it down extremely low. It has a very large closet and a small seating area with two chairs. The bed is extremely comfortable and very high! So high that you can't see the fireplace when laying in bed. The room is extremely bright which was nice as it has four windows, two sets on two sides of room. I'd stay here again no problem!

Incredible. We stayed in room 7, which I recommend since no one has to walk past the room. We got in late and I felt terrible making noise while walking up the stairs past all of the other rooms. I was delighted to find bottles of wine for sale in the room- it was nice to find after a long day of travel across the country. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. I even took advantage of the claw foot tub in the bathroom and took a nice soak. The house is stunning and located waking distance to downtown and the waterfront. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, amazing, charming. The Blackwell is just wonderful! This is a place for a quiet, romantic getaway that delivers a relaxing fireplace setting, or a sit on the porch to enjoy the town. The breakfast was homemade and had that special touch. One night was not enough, next time, we will stay longer.

My husband and I stayed here for our Anniversary (2 nights). The Hotel has such quaint characteristics, beautifully decorated and very clean. The manager is amazing! She does it all and is so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great, the grounds are pretty and it's a perfect walk to the active downtown and waterfront. We will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend!

This has become my #1 staycation hotspot. Coeur D'Alene is a quick 45 minute drive from Spokane and the perfect weekend getaway. The Blackwell is THE perfect bed and breakfast to stay at. The house is an older craftsman that has been furnished with incredible modern pieces of furniture and artwork. It's the perfect blend of old world and upscale artsy. The downstairs common areas have comfy couches and chairs, fireplaces and a state-of-the-art kitchen. Each of the bedrooms has it's own unique style and they are gorgeous. We've stayed in a corner bedroom on the second floor with a lovely large fireplace and also on the top level in a more modern meets farmhouse master suite. And I have to admit that I have a major crush on the highback couch downstairs. I want one in my house so bad. It's wide enough for curling up on with a good book and the high back makes it feel very private and romantic. Love, love, love. The continental breakfast is always done well. There's fruit, pastries, fresh granola, hard boiled eggs, sausage and coffee/tea/juice service. Every morning is a slight variation on this theme. In my dreams I would rent the whole house out for an incredibly luxurious weekend for my closest friends and family.

My husband and I moved to the Spokane area earlier this year, so we have been excited to get to…read moreknow the surrounding areas. Coeur d' Alene has been on my list as everyone says how great it is. So, a friend flew to visit over the summer and we spent 2 nights at the resort in their North Wing room. Then another friend came to visit this month, so we returned (with a much better experience). Arrival: Both visits were easy and we self parked. Be aware that there is an elevator from the parking garage to the resort and it is not the same one that will bring you to your room. Easy if you don't have a lot of stuff, but one visit I brought my dog and I could have used a luggage cart. So unload up front and then go park. Check in: Very quick. No wait. On the 2nd stay we were allowed to check in early which was nice. Rooms: North Wing- yikes. It does say on the site it is for the "value minded traveler." It shows. Summer is expensive there and since we were going to be outside the majority of the time it wasn't horrible. However, the room is much like a motel with the window facing a walkway. Ours was right next to the elevator. ugh. The inside was just okay. As others have mentioned, it could use updating. My second stay we stayed in the Lake Tower Room with double beds and fireplace and balcony. It was lovely. Nice room, beds comfortable, but the best was the view. Housekeeping: Unfortunately, both stays no one came to service the room. The Lake Tower even had a button to push when you want it serviced. We were out of the room by late morning and had the button turned on. Oh well. When I called, they did offer to service the room but we were tired and wanted to relax. One minor thing is that there is quite the push for tipping. I believe it came in an email and text. Just thought it was tacky. I've never seen that done before. Amenities: Visited the outdoor Blu pool during the summer. It was busy. My friend and I found an area that was "adults only" (not near the pool) and enjoyed the lake more than the kids in the pool crowd. Restaurants: Dined at Beverly's and Dockside. I will write separate reviews for them. All positive and will be back. The pre fixe dinner (early bird) was a great deal at Beverly's! ***Only policy I would suggest a change on is their charge for pet fee. It's one of the highest I've paid (and I've stayed at 5 star resorts) There is a DAILY $75 fee (someone said they cap at $150). I understand a fee is necessary, but I think that is a bit over the top. Our pup is crated (and prefers it) so does not require that deep level of clean other dogs might need. It might be better to have a standard reasonable fee and then charge the owner if the animal's stay requires additional cleaning.

Coeur d Alene Resort is a beautiful resort. A place of ever changing beauty. There are a multitude…read moreof things to do here. This is our favorite peaceful relaxing spot. We love it here. Making several trips a year here.
