Crossfit Elkhart has a super supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Turns out I'm pretty competitive and that is also supported by the members and coaches from being encouraged to do competitions or just trying to beat your workout buddies. Everyone is positive and will go out of their way to help. The community at Crossfit Elkhart is very family like and it is amazing how quickly strangers turn into close friends. We celebrate milestones and holidays as well as having a group of people available to hang out with outside of the gym. Now for the bad part of the review: men's locker room is disgusting, showers need a good scrubbing and disinfecting, not sure when the last time urinals have been deep cleaned. When the pandemic hit, we knew it would be an indication of dedication as to why businesses would step up and answer the call to challenge and diversity or cave to the many existing pressures. The Star team chose to rise up and answer the call, bringing along with them a group of like-minded students. What came out of it was an even stronger team who demonstrated the life skills they taught: respect, discipline, communication & confidence. This weekend our daughter became one of the youngest black belts and has enjoyed being a student and now leader at Star. We can't say enough about Masters Mr. & Mrs. Birky, Ms. Torres, Mr. Cooper, Ms. E & C Gallegos, Mr. Schoettmer, Mr. Hartman & Mr. Hawkins along with all the other instructors who are learning to lead and assist in classes or who may no longer be at Star. You are an extraordinary team with life long goals both meaningful and purposeful. This is more than a school, this is a community. The people here invest in each other's lives, and they'll invest in you too if you give them the chance. Yes, there are promotions, it is a business, but none of it is mandatory and you don't need the fancy stuff to get a real benifite out of it. I've seen countless lives transformed. Not a fan of the recent take over for Fitstop gyms. They did update the look and some equipment at…read morethe larger Granger location but for me and several others that I know we will NOT be renewing. Fitstop offered $10/mo and $35/yr for membership. Eastlake says they offer a military Discount to those who serve but its the same $25/mo they charge everyone moving from the Fitstop changeover. They do offers deals tho to those they are friends with who are workout buffs but apparently that doesn't apply to Military. Im moving on and so should you.
