Anyway, my wife, from Ohio some of her life, mentioned that she has seen the sign for this place over the years and never stopped. So retired now, with no place to be on any specific time, I took the exit. It is a few miles off the interstate, but be patient. It is in a neat little plaza, with a few other holiday themed businesses. The store is pretty big, not "massive" ( as in Walmart Supercenter size) but the biggest just Christmas stuff store I have ever been in. It is chocked full of just about anything you might want. The offerings range from artistic to whimsical to WTH was that artist thinking. I don't really have a frame of reference for the prices on stuff. Some things seemed reasonable, and other things quite a bit out of my comfort zone for decorations/tchotchkes. Of course no one needs any of this stuff but it sure is fun to have a place like this for those things you might want.

But I did check out the hype and the historic part of Santa Claus, Indiana. Besides Holiday World, there are a few must-do places while in town, and the Christmas Store is no exception. This is a very large store as it looks so small on the outside. It is part of a strip-mall, and it has multiple rooms - some of them having a theme. One has several personalized ornaments, another with snowman-themed stuff, one with secular decorations and another with train sets and ornaments. It's a Christmas/holiday lovers heaven, as there is so much to look and buy. Luckily I don't collect any of that stuff but my sister who easily gets in the holiday spirit early would. There's also a fudge/candy/confectionary place inside. There was also a room where kids can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, but it was not in use at the time of my visit. I didn't really buy anything for myself here, but spent a lot on gifts here.

While the merchandise of one Kohl's store is the same as another Kohl's store a thousand miles…read moreaway, this location stands out to us as a clear winner. The store is very well stocked and organized, making locating the specific merchandise you are looking for easy. We have found the store clean and well staffed on every visit. What really stands out to put this location as a winner is the amazing customer service we have received from every staff member we encounter. As an example, this past Sunday, we were traveling out of town and in Jasper. It was early and we arrived as the store opened so my wife could find a pair of Asics tennis shoes she has been looking for in her size with a specific color theme. We had been unsuccessful in finding the exact shoe she wanted in her size in any other store. We did not see a match and were starting to walk back toward the door, and a female staff member stopped and asked if there was anything she could help us find. We told her no, we needed 6.5 woman's shoe in a certain style and they did not have it. She offered to look for us and said at times, customers will put a box in the wrong location. A few moments later she returned with the exact shoe my wife wanted in a size 6.5 and it fit like a glove. The five-star customer service did not stop there, when we went to the counter, the young lady at the register helped us with adding up several Kohl's Cash receipts to give us a total of $25 off our purchase price. The bottom line, we can buy Asics Shoes from any retailer for the same cost. We can also go directly to the Asics website and purchase directly. As a customer, we have many, many choices. We chose to continue to patronize Kohl's because of their fantastic customer service, even if the price is different. Other Kohl's stores should look at this Jasper, Indiana location and work to mimic what they do every day to WOW their customers.
