Prior to Ridge, someone else owned the property with some vines over 100 years old. Producing over 1 million bottles a year Ridge wines are readily available throughout the United States and even OUS. Many visitors like us are familiar with Ridge. Visiting gives a whole new perspective on the interesting history of the winery, types of wines, and lovely Cabernet they produce right here on this property. We were welcomed by a gentlemen named Cosmo who was enthusiastic and proud of the wines and history of the Property. Well done Cosmo! Why four stars versus five.... Wine tasting was $110 for two people - minus half star. Their Cab Sav from this winery is $100 per bottle. It tastes like a $22 bottle - minus half star. The software to set up tasting is clunky and wasn't sure what we had bought. Their elite Cab Sav is world class but out of range for most including me at $500 per bottle retail. Their other whites and blended Zins are more reasonable and generally of good quality. Cheers Yelpers :)

Based on years of visiting wineries, we typically arrive about 10 minutes early to allow time for parking, check-in, and getting settled. We arrived at 10:50 AM, only to find the gates closed. There were about five other parties waiting outside the gate as well, which was a bit surprising. The gates were opened right at 11:00 AM. If the team is not ready to welcome guests before the scheduled start time, it would be better not to offer an 11:00 AM reservation slot. This was a first for us and could be improved with better guest communication. Once inside, we were seated promptly, and our tasting host was very pleasant and knowledgeable. However, she stepped away for about 15 minutes, and the transition to the next tasting was delayed until we had to ask for assistance. A smoother handoff between team members would have made the experience feel more seamless. We also purchased a bottle of wine and were surprised that single-bottle wine carriers were not available. Having a simple wine bag or carrier option would be a nice touch, especially for guests who are purchasing to take home. Overall, the winery has a wonderful setting, beautiful surroundings, and a great vibe. With a few improvements to guest arrival coordination, service flow, and small hospitality details, it could be an exceptional experience.

Stunning views of the bay, rolling mountainside with grape vines, and then the lush green of the redwood forest carved out this magical micro climate in the Saratoga Hills. There was a red-forward tasting menu, and I fell in love with the heavy, and complex pour on the Bourrée and the refreshing fresh sangria. But there wasn't one wine that I was upset about drinking, and I sipped each new sample with delight. I can't tell you what I loved more: the wines, or the lovely and attentive customer service of Lisa. Thank you for making me feel instantly at home in a new space. The entire grounds was a photoshoot waiting to happen, and I heard there are some lovely hiking trails right through this winery. It's hidden gems like this that make me fall in love with my hood a little more with every discovery.

Besides the absurdity (you could take one or more of their plastic water glasses and refill them as many times as you want), I wonder why someone who has chosen to be in the hospitality business also chose to display such an inhospitable (rude, even) message. Perhaps their intention was something like "If you refill your own water bottle (thanks for bringing it!), please ensure that the bottle does not touch the spigot." Or perhaps "Please help conserve water." Instead, it basically said "If you absolutely must have some water, we begrudgingly allow you to have a little bit of ours." Come on.

They currently board a LOT of horses, and have clear signage posted to keep your distance as to not spook them. 5. Bring walking shoes! There are trails you can explore around the winery and there's lots of dusty areas, so keep the dress shoes at home (or bring a change of footwear). I was expecting a cute charcuterie board; basically the "platter" presentation just saves me a trip to Whole Foods -- but if you bring your own food, they will banish you 5 feet away to the less comfortable bench tables. It seems like they don't have a kitchen license, which is the reason for the packaged food. That said, I think the provided olives could have at least been the pitted variety. I have been lucky enough to have been hosted at the vineyard twice by Julie and Albert. The first time was through our connection on Instagram, and the second was as a club member to pick up my wine club shipment. They grow and produce a limited amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and only sell to their wine club and a few establishments in Los Gatos. Julie and Albert are wonderful hosts. They make each person visiting feel special and truly engage with you. At both of my visits they provide a delectable charcuterie spread of mixed that also included Julie's famous tomato jam. As someone who doesn't traditionally like tomatoes, I can say this jam is my jam! Each visit has been a unique experience to mix and mingle with other wine enthusiasts from the area. This is a place where you come a stranger but leave a friend.

Hours used to be longer and opened earlier. I wished it opened earlier. Closing early i understand bc it gets darker early in the winter months. I do suggest hours of 11am-5pm during the longer months of daylight though. I miss the days that I spent 11 am - 5pm enjoying Pinot and taking in the beautiful landscapes. My dream is for Regale to open on Friday and close at 7 PM for people who want to relax after work. I would be at Regale's every Friday after work I definitely recommend Regale Winery & Vineyard! I'm not big on wine but my parents are and they love the Pinot here so I have had the chance to come here quite frequently. I think the wine is good, but I'm no expert. What I like best is that the people that work here are super friendly, hospitable, and make you really enjoy the tastings. If you love Pinot or want check out a local winery but save yourself a trip to Livermore or Napa, I would definitely recommend coming here.

It was about 1:30 in the afternoon and they had been open since 11:00. So, he had to first open up some bottles for me to taste. He ended up pouring them in a fairly backwards order. Syrah, then a Mourvedre followed by two Pinots. I really liked the Mourvedre, a 2004 from Contra Costa County as much of Mourvedre seems to be. And, I just popped it open. Light to medium bodied with nice raspberry flavors. Part of what made the trip here memorable was the comedy in getting here. I drove passed some cops in the midst of arresting three teenagers. The place is also located next to a martial arts school so I need wait for them to finish their exercises so I could pull my car in and out of the lot.
