Quality/Quantity - The better of the two vineyards we visited today. And our friends are members of the first winery..... Since this was our second vineyard today, we decided to only share a bottle; it was only bottle service. But then the team member started giving us a few tastings?!?! Not sure if it was due to closing time and they just wanted to finish the bottles...? Either way, GREAT service! Our friends let me select the wine and vintage. After trying a few cabs, I decided on the 2011 cab which I felt was the smoothest of the 3 splashes. If you were not so far away, I might consider becoming a member. Well, I am still considering it... Ambiance - Beautiful winery. And we were able to catch the early sunset during the winter hours. Huge indoor and outdoor space, my pictures do not do it justice. Two unisex restrooms on either side of the estate. Plenty of parking, well we did get here an hour before closing. Service - 5 stars, from the greeter to the person serving us at our tables. Price - $55 a bottle + generous tip. And of course we bought a few bottles to go. After fighting to try to pay, our friend won and would NOT let us pay/treat. So nice to have good friends! A beautiful view, and the vineyard seems to be an actual house. I'm glad there is inside seating here since it was pretty cold and windy the day I visited. Staff were friendly and explained each wine bottle thoroughly. I did the wine tasting option and it was a pretty good price for 6 tastings, and they were all tasty! The first wine and last tastings were the most unique for me, but the 2017 Monte Bello Road Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite. read more

Super friendly staff (shout out to Eric in particular!) and probably the absolute best views in the entire Bay Area in terms of wineries. It is one heck of a drive to get to the spot, but Montebello Road is pretty nicely paved the entire way and the drive is not as bad as some of the other wineries. They just got started making Chardonnays and will have the first batch ready in late April. I can't wait to make the trek back up to try some! I think it would be a killer spot to host a corporate event or a wedding as well given the large flat open area with 270 degree views of the San Francisco Bay! read more

Stunning Vineyard views of the Bay Area and beautiful farmland and amazing Cabernet! Great secret for a small winery! Family owned. I first went to Vidovich Vineyards when they first opened up because I saw its sign and i decided to check it out. The family just opened it up to public. The view from the location is stunning! The Cabernet was absolutely amazing and so i joined their wine club! I moved away, but i stopped by the winery and was so happy to see the Wine Spectator in 2024 rated their 2021 Monte Bello Cabernet at 94 points!! I love sitting at the top of Santa Cruz Mountain, in this small like home experience, and drinking fantastic wine!! Thank you to the great staff who were so friendly to me! read more

One of the best views to be had in the Bay Area, let alone a winery. Though it is an arduous trek up the hill, wine tasting with a view like this is a lovely way to spend a weekend day. We came for Mother's Day, and there was a decent crowd. Most of the seating is outdoors of course, but there is ample seating inside if you prefer that. The staff was very attentive, and generous with pours. And with a tasting fee of $25, this place checks all the boxes for a nice wine outing in the South Bay. read more

Spent yesterday afternoon wine tasting at Vidovich Vineyards. The flight had five wines (Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, two Cabs, and a desert wine, plus a bonus pour of Cab or two). Eric, the tasting room manager/assistant wine maker was our host. Gracious and exceptionally knowledgeable of all things wine, he really provided us with a fantastic experience. The wines were all top notch (left with six bottles). The views from the tasting patio are possibly one of the best in the SF Bay Area as the vineyard surrounded winery is one of the highest in elevation in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. On a clear day (yesterday was a bit hazy) you can see all the way to downtown San Francisco & Mt. Tamilpias to the north, east to Mt. Diablo, and south to Coyote Valley. Fridays are not busy days so other than a few other folks we had the place to ourselves. The winery is pretty much at the top of Montebello Road. The road itself is steep, narrow and winding, similar in ways to the Road to Hana in Maui. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

We were a large party of 8-10 and were the only patrons on arrival. A few other small groups came in though as we tasted. The staff was super sweet and even came outdoors to us to pour wines. They were also really accommodating when we got to hot and wanted to move back indoors- definitely not something that could have happened at a busier winery. I definitely think it was reasonably priced tastings and wine. I would return again. read more

Finally got to visit this dog friendly vineyard and it was wonderful! Staff very helpful and view is amazing. Wine tasting was great as sampled reds. I came as a guest with some friends. I have been a member ever since. I love their wine especially if you love a full bodied Cabernet. Their membership is reasonably priced for the quality of wine. I believe ridge is more expensive but I feel vidovich personally has exceptional wines and their venue is out of this world. I can agree last year they had a hiccup in service and dropped the ball. It was hard to reach them. I'm glad they have re vamped their wine club and made their release party this past fall 2023 a very nice event with music and food. I love their wine so much so I stuck it out. read more

Yes the views are gorgeous but their customer experience after your visit isn't great. I am very concerned with recommending Vidovich Vineyards to my friends and family after they have failed to return my phone calls, emails, and voicemails. Upon spending over $400 on their wine and still waiting over a week, I have yet to hear back from them resulting a bad customer experience. I genuinely wish they were more attentive especially to customers who may want to be their wine members. read more

What a wonderful Sunday experience! My girlfriend and I were supposed to go up to Sonoma, but we happily rearranged as we ended up getting a later start to our day. No matter! We ended up going to Vidovich on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. We'd known about their wines from Vino Locale in Palo Alto and enjoyed them enough to check it out! We got there at around 2 on a Sunday and it was the perfect vibe. Quite a few other people, but pleasantly chill. The views especially were spectacular. We did their tasting, which showcased their collection of Cabs. For those curious, the place is especially known for their Cabernets. If you're a fan, great! If not, I really recommend giving it a shot. I'm not a Cab man myself, but I quite enjoyed their collection (their 09' blend was especially smooth). Mike and Jack were working that day and both were quite informative about the winery, the collection, as well as a few other protips about the wines they offered. Jack was an absolutely wonderful host, making us feel comfortable and helping us appreciate the differences in the wines offered. We left with a bottle, but will certainly be back again. If not for the amazing wines, than for the amazing scenery, the peaceful environment, or the hospitality offered by Jack! Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a great winery away from the touristy bustle of Napa/Sonoma, with just as good grapes. read more

Vidovich Vineyards is an absolute hidden gem in South Bay. This is our third time visiting the family run winery since we discovered it last year and it's definitely our favorite. Reservations are easy, quick and efficient. Driving up Montebello Road, you are met with some pretty spectacular views of the Bay, however when you arrive at the wine tasting room, you are in for a real treat. Not only is the wine selection (mostly cabs) just exquisite, the panoramic views are simply amazing, the service is wonderful and friendly and the atmosphere is so very serene that you can really be present to appreciate the experience. Also the outdoor seating is perfect for small gatherings with picnic benches set up and spaced out well for social distancing (just bring food / snacks!) Overall love love love this winery and will definitely be back! Big shout out to the Vidovich family and team, thank you for the stellar experience every time. :) read more

Great winery all the way at the top of Montebello road. We came here after stopping at Picchetti. The view is absolutely amazing and they have cute picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the view. They only have cabs and a limited selection of wine, but I really enjoyed the great service!! We ended up chatting for an hour and didn't realize the time had gone so quickly. There was also a live band so I wish we could have stayed and enjoyed that. Definitely worth the drive up. read more

The great view and good service are only two things stand out for Vidovich - hence the two star rating. The actual tasting room is just a warehouse looking space with a small counter. You'd bring your glass outside where there are a few tables and the great view. What got me the most is not knowing prices and fee. Sure, I'm not a wine snob who drinks only expensive stuff. You make the drive all the way up the mountain only to find out tasting fee is $25 posted at the gate. And when you get to the tasting room, you'll find out they offer only 3 wines for $50, $90, $110. You don't come to an expensive place in the boonies and look cheap - oh sorry this is not what I want to pay for and turn around, right? So I was sorta forced to buy their most expensive bottle, Monte Bello Road Cab because the other ones didn't even taste that great. I leave the place with a disappointment knowing I just spent over a hundred bucks for some wine I could have paid half the price for another wine elsewhere that tastes just as good if not better. I just wish they clearly list the tasting fee and wine prices on their web site. read more

This family run winery is what wine tasting should be. Beautiful new tasting room, super friendly staff, amazing views and spectator wine. If you like great Cabs, you need to visit. There is a tasting fee and the wine is not everyday inexpensive wine, but it is some of the best Cab in California. And the membership events are wonderful, not overly crowded and really something to look forward to. They even delivered my wine to my house during the quarantine personally.
