How have I never heard of this lovely winery? I had the pleasure of attending their Summer Music series, but was immediately struck with the gorgeous views of the property. Stunning views of the bay, rolling mountainside with grape vines, and then the lush green of the redwood forest carved out this magical micro climate in the Saratoga Hills. There was a red-forward tasting menu, and I fell in love with the heavy, and complex pour on the Bourrée and the refreshing fresh sangria. But there wasn't one wine that I was upset about drinking, and I sipped each new sample with delight. I can't tell you what I loved more: the wines, or the lovely and attentive customer service of Lisa. Thank you for making me feel instantly at home in a new space. The entire grounds was a photoshoot waiting to happen, and I heard there are some lovely hiking trails right through this winery. It's hidden gems like this that make me fall in love with my hood a little more with every discovery. read more

What a pretty, quaint winery. There was a band playing on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago over Memorial weekend, and they sounded great, good vibes, wonderful wine and the setting was beautiful. The drive there was stunning in itself, windy two lane road covered with trees. Just gorgeous. Definitely would like to come back again sometime soon. read more

Negative; $35 for tasting fee‼ You might expect this at a very high-end Napa winery eg, Stags Leap Wine Cellars etc but not in a remote woodsy area at a small boutique winery. Shocking. ** Chardonnay was out of this world. Good nose, legs, and mouth feel, long finish, but we still couldn't get past the $35 tasting fee pp and only $10 of the tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle‼ That still brings it down to $25... Yikes! The wine attendant was drab, seemed uninterested in us..,,., no smile or joie de vivre. Not "welcoming " at all. 20% industry discount (parsimonious) Usually a 30% discount for industry /trade. 20% is usually a wine club discount. Signage is non-existent heading west. Drove by for a couple of miles looking for the sign. Positive: Chardonnay was very well balanced The first Pinot Noir was very well balanced Beautifully decorated for Christmas season Having ability to sit at a round table with the four chairs was a plus for us older folks. The wine attendant waited on us at the table which was a plus. Summary: Being a 70+ person I have a lot of experience growing grapes, a bit of hands on wine making, consuming wine since the early 70's, and pouring at several different winery tasting rooms in Paso Robles and Alameda. won't be back. 20 years ago the winery was booming with customers, the staff was very friendly and informative. Not quite what I imagined! My sister and I visited Savannah Chanelle on a Friday afternoon, hoping to have some great wine in a beautiful place. While they were open for tastings ($25), we learned that the grounds were closed on weekdays. They had indoor seating in the tasting room, which was cozy and decorated for the holidays, and a front patio with picnic tables and tents. The ambiance wasn't bad, but it just didn't compare to the stunning photos of the grounds that we had seen. The tasting fee is waived when you purchase two bottles, which I was hoping to do, but we ended up not loving any of the wine. There were five that were included in the tasting - a Chardonnay, two Pinot Noirs, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Port. The only one I enjoyed was the second Pinot Noir, which was surprising because there's rarely a Cabernet Sauvignon that I'm not into. Would probably still return when I can see the grounds, but this experience was a little underwhelming. read more

I've been here a few of times now and have the same criticism. The property is beautiful and the wine is good, but when a "young" group comes in they don't always treat us the way I see them treat "older" clients. This has happened each time we try to buy bottles or do tastings, regardless of how decisive the group is. However, I will say that when taking a tour with the staff that wasn't the case. I do enjoy both the white and red wines here and like being able to sit out at the picnic tables. Do also be aware that upper seating sometimes is closed for short amounts of time while the property dogs are let out to the bathroom! read more

Came here for wine tasting with my group and my favorite was the 2018 Chardonnay! We had a reservation here and it did not guarantee us a table, so we had to stand the entire time. Also, we asked for water and they charged us $1 per bottle, even though there were smaller water bottles that were complimentary (they didn't tell us there was complimentary water until we asked about the smaller water bottles after we already paid). Additionally, we bought $30 worth of cheese and they wouldn't let us grab more than three plates (for a party of 10 people). I took two stars off of my review because of these encounters. read more

Great outdoor patio area in the parking lot. So sad to come back after 10+ years to see that we cannot go up the hill to picnic up there anymore. We came here yesterday during MLK holiday (1/16/23). The guy who helped us was friendly and nice. It's $25 for 5 wines. The wines included a chardonnay, 2 pinot noirs, a red blend, and a port. The pours were decent pours. We liked 2018 Pinot Noir, Pierre's Ghost and 2018 Monmartre, Red Blend. They also sell some charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, dips for picnic. They do not allow outside food. The only downside is that the restrooms are porta potties. We tried drinking our wines quickly so we could go use the restroom at Cooper Garrod. read more

Stopped into the Vineyard today after a hike at Castle Rock State Park. Had been wanting to stop in for a long while but hadn't had an opportunity. I am so glad that we did, as we not only enjoyed the views and wine, but may have found a venue for a certain event coming up . The tasting room was not open due to COVID restrictions but the staff was knowledgeable of the wines and gave us tastings before purchasing by the glass... and then by the bottle. Our party of 3 ordered different reds: I ordered the Montmartre, a dark blend. While it was young still it had delicious notes of spices and was full. The two others ordered Pinot Noirs, one from Santa Cruz Mountains and the other is Saint Lucia. We enjoyed the Saint Lucia so much that we got a bottle for our time on the grounds. The views are amazing as you can see in the pics. The fog rolling over the mountains and the redwoods were a perfect backdrop to a good time. While this isn't the best the place has to offer, the potential is endless. read more

If you're in the South Bay and looking for a local place to unwind, I'd highly recommend visiting Savanah Chanelle. The views are incredible and it's the perfect place to read and/or enjoy a picnic. We visited on a Saturday, but it wasn't too crowded so we were able to snag some lounge chairs and spent hours relaxing with good conversation. That being said, I'll admit that it was frustrating having to pay an additional $10 (per person) to access "the grounds"- even after purchasing a tasting and bottle of wine! It's the Bay Area though, so you can expect everything to be overpriced. I was also really surprised that they didn't allow dogs since the whole region is super dog friendly. My biggest complaint however was that we had to use porta potties. Overall, I had a really memorable experience and would definitely visit again. It's a beautiful little getaway in Silicon Valley. read more

This vineyard has changed alot over the years. First, they don't allow kids. They used to, so I'm not sure what happened but our little ones are no longer welcomed. Second, they closed off the top grassy area for members only or a $20/pp price. I enjoyed coming to this winery for their wines and the gorgeous landscape and view but when I went yesterday, I had a view of just the wooden house. We wanted to enjoy the gorgeous day outside while wine tasting but was disappointed. We probably won't be coming back again. read more

Expensive. If you have money to blow then come here to spend it on the ridiculous wristbands you need to purchase to access the "Grounds." Most vineyards allow you access on their grounds when you are a paying customer and even if you aren't a paying customer would allow you on the grounds. The worker was new and seemed he had no idea what was going on and took forever to set up the cash register for us to even go on the grounds. It is $10 each wristbands on a Saturday to go in- regardless if you buy their wine or do a tasting. You can do a tasting in their tasting room but you cannot access the "grounds" which is the picturesque area you see in the photos. Poor signage as they don't tell you how much it costs. We had to go ask around and look for employees to ask. Not sure why we have to pay $10 to get on the grounds because we aren't here to listen to the music event. Which is what they explained to us that the ticket is to separate from the music listeners..... I would say that there's poor management here. Even members here did not know about the wristband policy. There are no bathrooms just port-a-potties and a very small, but scenic area. Save your money and go somewhere else to have a wine tasting and picnic. Also the wine was alright. Nothing to cry home about. read more

Had a great experience here. Live music, scenic surroundings all around us, and good wine. The pinot noir was a good start to the tasting, we decided to get an entire bottle. I don't normally enjoy white wines but they are done well here. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have a cabernet but that was ok since there are so many wineries out there that offer cabs to a fault. This is a great spot for a simple tasting or a full picnic. This winery is far enough outside of town you really do feel you are transported to a far away place with ambience and beautiful landscapes, along with a spectacular view, oh and lots of good wine :) read more

I went here based on the recommendation of a relative who is a member here and really enjoyed the visit. Great setting, good wine and awesome staff. The tasting room looks like a barn and thank goodness they had the A/C on full blast...it was one of those days. The employees were super chill and helpful. A short walk from there gets you to a great view of Silicon Valley. Why go all the way to Napa or Sonoma when you have a nice winery in your backyard. Two thumbs up! read more

They ran out of Sauv Blanc which is the only bottle less than $42. The Chard was not good. I tried 2 pinots and one was delicious, the other was just blah. Went with a large group. To start off my sister emailed Vicki (reservation manager) to ask about reserving for her husband's bday. She responded with a very short response saying we needed a credit card and phone number. Not even a hello. That's fine...we still decide to go. Fast forward to today....Just left this winery. Last time I had been here was several years ago for a friends bridal event and had a great time. Today, my best friend and her husband arrived early and purchased a glass of wine for each of them. The rest of us arrived and we all started with a tasting. Kelly (I asked for her name later) rudely asked "sooo you had 2 glasses, and now you're having a tasting?" My friend was taken a back by that. I could tell she tried to ignore the rude comment, but obviously bothered her. Later as we were finishing the tasting, the gentlemen asked again so you had the 2 glasses? Did we square that away already? She answered "yes, I've already paid". There was only two people working the entire winery and she felt she was being judged and actually had to step outside from being upset. I also overheard another group say they wanted to go to the top area. Kelly replied that they needed a wristband but that they were closing shortly. And that then her German shepherd was being let out for a half an hour. (I noticed another review mention this odd comment). Overall, this experience was just bad. My family and I have been fans of the winery and have spent plenty of money on wine in the past and wanted to step onto the grounds to quickly show a couple of our friends the view for less than two minutes. We were there with plenty of time before closing to do so (about 4:50pm), with plenty of other patrons still seated, finishing their drinks. Instead of being warmly greeted, a very rude older woman employee threatened us with a warning about a very aggressive German Shepherd she had "running around loose". Were the people still seated in danger as well? Is this lack of attention to clientele safety a business practice they use everyday? Whoever is running this business should re-evaluate the way they treat loyal customers, or they will likely continue losing them. read more

Visited: 08/14/21, Saturday. Came here with my husband because we wanted to escape the monterey car week crowd. We figured we should try some wineries in Saratoga. I really wanted to like this winery but there's just a lot of little things that can mislead people if you are basing your decision via Yelp pics. 1.) You see the nice views and picturesque fountain on the photos here... Yeah that place! THEY DON'T LET YOU DO TASTINGS THERE. When we came in, we were just told to sit right in front of the barn tasting room (no views except their parking lot and the tasting barn (which was closed). We saw some people up there in the nice lawn we see on Yelp but we figured that's prolly for members only?? Anyhow, how would we know.. wasn't explained to us. The gal who greeted us just told us to sit at any table We saw open) 2.) Saw 3 elderly locals walk in and they try to do a tasting. One of the gals told them "you can't do tasting up there" (yeah she's talking about the picturesque area that prolly attracts people on Yelp). Old man was confused of why. The gal just kept telling her "if u grab your first tasting, you probably will be finish by the time u get up there and have to come back down here for your next one" This ticked me off...OK clearly, he can't do that! AT LEAST MENTION TO THE ELDERS THEIR OTHER OPTIONS! (Idk Maybe u can offer a better idea for them like... hrmm buy a bottle and enjoy it there ) instead of just telling them they can't do their tasting up there! They clearly made an effort to go out and visit your place and the views that are selling u on Yelp. 3.) WINES $20 for 4 tasting. Standard pour nothing extra. WINE TASTE: it's okay. It's not horrible. I liked their SLH Pinot noir but u can get something way way better in monterey. THE ONE STAR I HAVE ON HERE WAS FOR THE NICE GAL WHO SERVED US. We've been here twice, first for a wine tasting and the second for the Saturday evening music they host in their absolutely stunning location in the summer/fall. They have some great wines and even liked their Chardonnays which I typically do not. We were not wine members and with another couple that weren't wine members either, yet they treated us like we were. The music night was so fun, full of nice people, fun music, and dancing. I love the charm and will be back perhaps as wine members. An extra bonus is the German Shepherd who makes sure you know who runs the place. read more

AUG 2021 spent a Saturday at local wineries and boy am I glad I ended my tour at Savannah Chanelle. My first winery in Los Gatos had nice shady grounds and good wine but how am I to enjoy the ambiance and wine under a 45min time limit?! Not so at Savannah Chanelle. Parking can be a little tight near the winery but there's overflow parking as you enter and it's just a short stroll to the check in grass area. Mary Beth was my first contact at the winery. She was bubbly, personable and welcoming to the winery. Tastings were 1-2oz pours and I enjoyed the whites to reds; in particular their Pinot noir. Second staff person Steve was welcoming and showed genuine interest in the wines, the varietals and surrounding landscape of the vineyards. This day there happened to be a live band which added to the overall experience at Savannah Chanelle. The wines were amazing and the staff, especially Colleen, were very friendly and helpful and really cared about making our experience great The winery is situated in the beautiful hills. The wine tasting cost 20.00, but well worth it! They waive the fee if you buy 2 wines. They are very generous with their pours. We brought our own food, sat outside at a table and had a wonderful time drinking and eating in the perfect weather with live music playing in the background. read more

This place is GORGEOUS! You can bring your own food and snacks, so by golly, I brought my picnic basket full of Trader Joe's and Grocery Outlet goodies and had a blast here with my friend. We took lots of cute photos of our picnic, sipped on our wine, girl talked about life and all the colorful things we love, laid on our picnic blanket and looked at the clouds, and squealed many times over how beautiful this place was! We also came on a beautiful sunny day, so add more happy squeals to that! There is an area of long tables you can sit and I'm guessing they may also play live music there sometimes. There is a grassy area nearby with white wooden chairs, a fountain (no water coming out of it when I went), and another secluded seating area (where I chilled at) overlooking what looked like the most epic tree/forest views. I did a tasting of 5 for $15. I enjoyed the red wines, most were on the fruity side and had subtle hints of it, which was great. The only downside to this place is that customers have to use porta potties which is located outside of the grounds by the parking lot. I don't know why such a beautiful place like this doesn't have proper restrooms inside the establishment for their customers. Anyways, I'll be back for more picnics! read more

I celebrated my birthday here in October and we had SO much fun! It's a beautiful vineyard with the cutest picnic area. You can bring your own food and snacks. It's a great place for adults and families. The wine was also delicious, I had the Pinot Noir and some of guests had the Chardonnay. I can't wait to bring my mom here even though she doesn't drink. It was a disappointing experience. The venue and the band were amazing. It was a beautiful place to picnic, sip Savannah Chanelle Pinot Noir, and enjoy Spill The Wine band. The $20 cost to get a wrist band to go up the hill was disappointing, without a tasting included. It was a quiet day, and we were so happy to be there,, but they should have been happy to have us there and included the tasting. The tasting room reminded me of a potential horror flick: dark, dungeony, with creepy lurking vampires. I had to make sure that the door wouldn't lock behind us. Get this: the pourer did not greet us. Simply said, "It's a $10 tasting fee and you have to PAY NOW." Sheesh, tactful much? What happened to the loving spirit of having people simply enjoy and taste your wines instead of treating us like retail bait? Didn't like the vibe, didn't like the From Dusk To Dawn vampire ambiance, and even though the wines were pretty decent, the customer service lacked social grace. RECOMMEND the mustards. I was here about a year ago with 2 girlfriends and got the best service in the tasting room from the owner. He shared stories of the winery, the name, the wine etc. I just came back again for wine tasting with a girlfriend and got Mike as our pouring. He was terrific as well. He's informative but funny. Doesn't take his job too seriously but you can tell her enjoys what he does here. We got a lesson on how to slow down and enjoy the wine. If you do get a chance to drop by, you have to ask for Mike. Love their Chardonnay and Pinots. Port was a bit much as I'm not a sweet wine person. We'll be back. read more

The people who work here are awesome, especially the sweet lady who helped us...wish I could remember her name! She was totally fun to hang out with! The wines were good.
