I'm a bit of a wine snob and all the wines are awesome. Beautiful drive up to SCV and the staff is great.

Not quite what I imagined! My sister and I visited Savannah Chanelle on a Friday afternoon, hoping to have some great wine in a beautiful place. While they were open for tastings ($25), we learned that the grounds were closed on weekdays. They had indoor seating in the tasting room, which was cozy and decorated for the holidays, and a front patio with picnic tables and tents. The ambiance wasn't bad, but it just didn't compare to the stunning photos of the grounds that we had seen. The tasting fee is waived when you purchase two bottles, which I was hoping to do, but we ended up not loving any of the wine. There were five that were included in the tasting - a Chardonnay, two Pinot Noirs, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Port. The only one I enjoyed was the second Pinot Noir, which was surprising because there's rarely a Cabernet Sauvignon that I'm not into. Would probably still return when I can see the grounds, but this experience was a little underwhelming.

I've been here a few of times now and have the same criticism. The property is beautiful and the wine is good, but when a "young" group comes in they don't always treat us the way I see them treat "older" clients. This has happened each time we try to buy bottles or do tastings, regardless of how decisive the group is. However, I will say that when taking a tour with the staff that wasn't the case. I do enjoy both the white and red wines here and like being able to sit out at the picnic tables. Do also be aware that upper seating sometimes is closed for short amounts of time while the property dogs are let out to the bathroom!

Came here for wine tasting with my group and my favorite was the 2018 Chardonnay! We had a reservation here and it did not guarantee us a table, so we had to stand the entire time. Also, we asked for water and they charged us $1 per bottle, even though there were smaller water bottles that were complimentary (they didn't tell us there was complimentary water until we asked about the smaller water bottles after we already paid). Additionally, we bought $30 worth of cheese and they wouldn't let us grab more than three plates (for a party of 10 people). I took two stars off of my review because of these encounters.

Great venue, good wine, and beautiful music! And wonderful friends who invited us! I would recommend bringing a blanket, snacks, and water.

Great outdoor patio area in the parking lot. So sad to come back after 10+ years to see that we cannot go up the hill to picnic up there anymore. We came here yesterday during MLK holiday (1/16/23). The guy who helped us was friendly and nice. It's $25 for 5 wines. The wines included a chardonnay, 2 pinot noirs, a red blend, and a port. The pours were decent pours. We liked 2018 Pinot Noir, Pierre's Ghost and 2018 Monmartre, Red Blend. They also sell some charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, dips for picnic. They do not allow outside food. The only downside is that the restrooms are porta potties. We tried drinking our wines quickly so we could go use the restroom at Cooper Garrod.

Stopped into the Vineyard today after a hike at Castle Rock State Park. Had been wanting to stop in for a long while but hadn't had an opportunity. I am so glad that we did, as we not only enjoyed the views and wine, but may have found a venue for a certain event coming up . The tasting room was not open due to COVID restrictions but the staff was knowledgeable of the wines and gave us tastings before purchasing by the glass... and then by the bottle. Our party of 3 ordered different reds: I ordered the Montmartre, a dark blend. While it was young still it had delicious notes of spices and was full. The two others ordered Pinot Noirs, one from Santa Cruz Mountains and the other is Saint Lucia. We enjoyed the Saint Lucia so much that we got a bottle for our time on the grounds. The views are amazing as you can see in the pics. The fog rolling over the mountains and the redwoods were a perfect backdrop to a good time. While this isn't the best the place has to offer, the potential is endless.

Super friendly staff and beautiful scenic panorama views! Saturday night bands are super fun in the summertime. Great wines, love the chardonnay!! Plenty of tables to bring a picnic and enjoy the sunshine.

If you're in the South Bay and looking for a local place to unwind, I'd highly recommend visiting Savanah Chanelle. The views are incredible and it's the perfect place to read and/or enjoy a picnic. We visited on a Saturday, but it wasn't too crowded so we were able to snag some lounge chairs and spent hours relaxing with good conversation. That being said, I'll admit that it was frustrating having to pay an additional $10 (per person) to access "the grounds"- even after purchasing a tasting and bottle of wine! It's the Bay Area though, so you can expect everything to be overpriced. I was also really surprised that they didn't allow dogs since the whole region is super dog friendly. My biggest complaint however was that we had to use porta potties. Overall, I had a really memorable experience and would definitely visit again. It's a beautiful little getaway in Silicon Valley.

Ask the Community - Savannah Chanelle Vineyard

Are they serving wine outside during COVID? Is there an Outside patio, or can we still picnic up the hill by the house?

Last time I was there, they only allow members up the hill. Nonmembers can wine taste near the parking lot, but it's not as nice. This was in March, I believe.

    Do they allow dogs?

No they don't allow dogs. You'll get a stern lecture from staff if you bring your dog here...

(Bonus points for being dog and toddler friendly) Our older toddler had a blast on her first real pony ride, even after taking a bit of a tumble when Max got spooked. The staff said this usually doesn't happen and were super apologetic. My baby girl was fine and took it like a champ. She still had lots of fun! On the wine tasting: Wines: Awesome! I ordered their white wine flight, the chardonnay and rose were standouts for me even though I tend to like sauvignon blanc profiled wine more. Service: Great too, the staff was attentive and friendly Snacks/food: Ok, so like other reviews have said...my only critique of the wine tasting experience was that the cheese, meats, crackers, olives arrived completely packaged with flimsy plastic utensils. I was expecting a cute charcuterie board; basically the "platter" presentation just saves me a trip to Whole Foods -- but if you bring your own food, they will banish you 5 feet away to the less comfortable bench tables. It seems like they don't have a kitchen license, which is the reason for the packaged food. That said, I think the provided olives could have at least been the pitted variety. Anyway, literal champagne problems Vibes: The wine tasting area was shaded, relaxing, and comes with a great view of all the pretty horses coming and going.

This boutique estate offers a refined, artisanal approach to winemaking. A special shoutout to the cellist, who made the entire experience both musical and beautiful. Crowd: Having a reservation definitely helps to get a table here. The vineyard was filled with large groups of people, most accompanied by family and friends, including us. Service: I arrived with my entire family, and we were able to secure a table right away since we had reservations. Although the vineyard was busy, the staff approached us promptly with menus and walked us through their offerings. The overall vibe was relaxed and approachable, less formal than a sommelier, which is perfect for a casual wine-tasting experience. The Sip: We chose the light flight, which included red, white, and rosé. The wines were well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted. Going into the tasting, I expected to prefer the rosé, as that's usually my favorite. However, the Pinot Noir surprised me the most because it was light and smooth, with subtle earthiness and soft tannins, which to me is a true classic Pinot Noir. Overall, it was a strong lineup with no weak points, but the Pinot Noir clearly stood out for me. The Pairing: We ordered crackers, cheese, fig spread, and roasted almonds, which paired perfectly with the wines. This vineyard also allows minors to accompany adults, which I really appreciated. We were joined by my six-year-old nephew, and it was great to see that they offer non-alcoholic beverages as well. He ordered a Sanpellegrino Limonata and proudly enjoyed his own "tasting," which was honestly adorable. The One Drawback: The smell from the horse stable. While the stable adds a unique opportunity to see beautiful horses up close, the smell can sometimes detract from the wine-tasting experience. Since tasting relies heavily on all olfactory senses, horse aroma wasn't exactly the afternote I was hoping for. The vineyard was quite a drive from our residence, but aside from the stable smell, it was a wonderful experience.
