Lohr Winery 20 minutes before closing and were turned away and refused service, despite three other couples already inside actively eating and drinking. It was frustrating and confusing to be told they could not accommodate us while clearly still serving others. We were polite, respectful, and simply hoping to enjoy a quick glass of wine, but were made to feel unwelcome. If there is a strict cut-off time for service, it should be clearly communicated -- or applied consistently to all guests. Unfortunately, the lack of flexibility and hospitality left a bad impression. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this winery based on our experience.

I have been lucky enough to have been hosted at the vineyard twice by Julie and Albert. The first time was through our connection on Instagram, and the second was as a club member to pick up my wine club shipment. They grow and produce a limited amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and only sell to their wine club and a few establishments in Los Gatos. Julie and Albert are wonderful hosts. They make each person visiting feel special and truly engage with you. At both of my visits they provide a delectable charcuterie spread of mixed that also included Julie's famous tomato jam. As someone who doesn't traditionally like tomatoes, I can say this jam is my jam! Each visit has been a unique experience to mix and mingle with other wine enthusiasts from the area. This is a place where you come a stranger but leave a friend.

On the way day, you get to see a big portion of their beautiful grounds with benches and chairs spread out to sit on if you choose to. I'm sure you can also walk from the parking lot to the tasting area since there are pathways and steps everywhere but I opted for the fun golf cart ride. :) Their wine is fantastic. Each time we were given a wine/new wine to try we were provided with some information about the grapes and the style the wine was made - tasting notes with flavor profiles for each wine were listed on the back of the menu with all the wines they had. Overall we had a great experience and both ended up going home with at least a bottle. I went home with the rosé and merlot, and I was tempted to go home with even more than one bottle of that rosé.
