Passed this lovely shop while walking around Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market. It may have been June, but I whipped myself right around and popped in to check it out. The store is packed with ornaments and accessories and it was all fun to browse. Service was friendly and helpful. I ended up picking up a Christmas ornament for our tree and a little something for my mother-in-law. I felt it was a bit pricy, but that's pretty standard for the area and Boston in general. Christmas is easily my favorite holiday, so we had a lot of fun walking through here and checking out what they had in stock while taking a break from walking the Freedom Trail. They had a pretty wide-ranging collection of ornaments! You have a lot of sports team themed ornaments (not just Boston teams), some fun and ridiculous looking ornaments, in addition to some ugly sweaters and overall general Christmas decor. Prices were pretty fair considering what a touristy area of the city that you are standing in. They are located right next to the Quincey Market, which is right next to Faneuil Hall. So when I saw a Christmas store in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, I had to go in. It's a beautiful store, full of two floors of Christmas decorations. It had a small section of Disney/WB/Harry Potter figurines and also a substantial section of Halloween decor or it also kinda looks like Christmas decor with a Halloween spin... kinda reminding me of a Nightmare Before Christmas. For the tourists out there, it sells ornaments with Boston in it and the year, so you can take it as a souvenir and hang it in your tree to remind yourself of the trip. I got one! Great store, too much into ornaments and needing to have other types of decorations for the holidays. Still wonderful place to get deck your halls full of jolly! This is hands down one of my most favorite shops in downtown Boston by far. Prepare to spend at least a half hour inside even if you're just doing a quick walk through because there are so many cool ornaments and ideas that you can gather. My favorite room was obviously the one with all the food themed ornaments. The squishy ornaments are my absolute favorites. In addition to Boston, they have stores in NYC, Miami, Baltimore, Hollywood, CA and recently added Niagara Falls, ON and DC. Each store offers up ornaments that are geared to the particular city that the shop is in. We were walking through the Quincy Market when I spotted the store and told my husband that I wanted to take a look. He didn't want to go in so he waited outside. Upon entering, one of the first ornaments I saw was a lobster with jingle bells in its body. On its tail was painted "Boston 2015". I knew our daughter would like that one so I picked it up and went browsing. The store is huge---it's on 2 levels! You know those pop-up Christmas stores that show up in the malls? Well, they pale in comparison. Whatever your interests are, you will find an ornament that suits you. Like sports? You will, for example, find all the Boston (or whatever city you're doing your shopping) sports teams. To be honest, the amount of choice is overwhelming. You can easily go hog wild and do too much impulse shopping! I restrained myself and only ended up buying 2 ornaments. There is an employee who will gladly personalize any ornament you want. Although I noticed that many of the ornaments were painted with "Boston 2015". When I went to pay for them, the sales clerk was very friendly. Plus she carefully wrapped each ornament in multiple layers of tissue paper. If you come across one of these stores in your travels, by all means, stop in. This is always a must visit when we come to Boston. Unfortunately, this year we discovered that they have moved from their large 2 story space where C&B used to be, to a smaller space on on the other side of the building where the restaurants are. The new space is quite a bit smaller and as such, the selection has decreased. There is still a very hand-curated feel to what they have left to offer, including plenty of customizable ornaments where they will inscribe your name or family, pets names, etc. onto the ornament. In addition, they have a great selection of LGBT friendly ornaments, including the gorgeous December Diamonds collection! They have a LOT of Kurt Adler ornaments as well! There are Harry Potter ornaments, Peanuts, Santa on a pool float, and so much more! The prices here are high in my opinion, but Christmas comes only once a year so it's worth it to have some fun and unique ornaments on the tree! Highly recommended! read more

I'll start this with I love Christmas! I was pleasantly surprised to find this store while shopping around. There are multiple rooms with various themes. They do an excellent job at putting together large trees with the ornaments in the room to show how to combine decorations. They have novelty items like Jim Shore and various elves in addition to ornaments of any kind. I bought a few things to take home, and indicated I would be traveling. The two girls at the register seemed clueless to the concept of wrapping. I bought a fragile figurine and some plush items so I needed bubble wrap and plastic bags since it was raining. I came to a point I almost didn't buy if they cousins find a box, finally an older woman came from upstairs and fixed the whole situation. read more

I would be very careful about making a purchase here. When I left the store after buying a $19.99 ornament, I noticed there was a surcharge that was stated on the receipt as a "service fee." Since when does a simple gift shop charge a "service fee," especially when there is no hint anywhere in the store that such a fee will be applied? That seems extremely unethical to me. I came here and bought two Christmas ornaments. One said "Boston" on it and was a ship's steering wheel. The other was a a ceramic milk carton. I have this tradition where I buy a Christmas ornament in each city I travel to with my fiance so that I can look at my Christmas tree and remember all the fun trips we went on. What sucks about this tradition is that Christmas ornaments are strangely expensive. The ones here, that were Boston-specific, ranged from $9.99 to $25 but were mostly around the $13-$19 range (for one). This place is humungous. They have two levels and tons of different mini-rooms with the ornaments separated by themes. The Halloween-themed ornaments are 50% off right now. They also sell magnets. I am extremely upset with an incident that did not need to occur. I purchased two ornaments, gifts for a family member but unfortunately I had to return them today to your store. This does not mean I refuse to do business with you. It does not mean I was unhappy with the purchase. It was a gift, that was ill received so I only wished to return it since it was no longer of any use to me. NO WHERE in your store does it state that all sales are final. It states on your counter and receipt that "NO RETURNS OR EXHANCES OR STORE CREDIT WITHIN SEVEN DAYS ONLY WITH RECEIPT." By common definition that means that returns, exchanges or store credit can only be given within 7 days of purchase with receipt and that they cannot and do not occur after the 7 day period. According to YOUR own vague writing, I had the option of a return. Just has I had the option of store credit and was given store credit. STORE CREDIT was NOT an option I desired or requested. But your associate insisted that I could only receive store credit. To be told by one of your associates that "Can't do it, that's just the way things are." was not only extremely disrespectful towards myself as the customer but also very inconsiderate of common business practices and your own written guidelines. If you cannot honor your own words, honor your customers and exercise honest business practices, you don't deserve to be open as a business. I'll make sure to share my experiences and warn people of the GREEDINESS of this place. read more

This is the cleanest, least tacky Christmas store I've ever seen! It's immaculate, well organized, and they have every kind of ornament imaginable! Animals, Boston-themed, you name it. Eh...it's ok. It really depends on what you're looking for. I was looking for a nice and elegant but relatively plain set of glass ornaments (or even just one), which were nowhere to be found. If you're looking for a novelty ornament, do go here, because there is everything from tea, bird, pet, fireman, etc.-themed ornaments (I have to admit I loved the London cab ornament), but the selection of almost everything else is surprisingly limited, particularly given the size of the store. I had to walk through twice to make sure I wasn't missing something. The staff also seems a bit surly; I saw a number of people in uniform who were wandering around the store with their baskets, not making eye contact or offering to help. We've started making a habit of grabbing a Christmas ornament every time we go on vacation - enter Christmas in New England. Never before have we seen such an array of Lobster themed or lighthouse laden ornaments. The selection is solid and many of the items have the date written on them so you never have to remember when it was that you actually went there. Prices are pretty standard for what you'd expect in a Boston boutique-y shop, but overall they weren't bad. Plenty of ornaments for under $10 and lots more for more than that. Absolutely amazing selection of Christmas decorations on two floors! Any type of ornament, elf, bauble that you're looking for to decorate for Christmas I'm fairly certain you'd be able to find here. They even have a sexy holiday merman in the front window. Prices range from great for ornaments and dolls to expensive for more arty pieces, especially the Nutcrackers which they have a huge variety of. If you are looking for a "blown glass" or claylike ornament, this is the place to go! They have a huge selection and each display has essentially the same ornament a hundred times with slight variations. You can pick two smiling faces (without noses) surrounding a frame, three faces, four, or even five. I didn't like all the weird faces staring at me. It panders to the tourist crowd, and that's why I gave it two stars. There are a lot of fake Boston colloquialisms they exploit and as a resident, I'm just not a fan of seeing "Chowdah" and "Wicked Pissah" and the like everywhere I turn. read more

We called on Sunday afternoon to inquire about the hours while planning our day. An employee answered, and told us they would be open until 8:00PM. When we arrived around 7:30, they had several customers shopping inside with the upstairs chained off and closed. I went to the register and asked if we could go upstairs because we had come for a tree topper. The woman said we couldn't because they were closing soon. I told her "I had called inquiring about closing time earlier and the associate told me 8:00PM, it's only 7:30." She replied with "I didn't answer that phone call, I'm out," put her jacket on and left her two coworkers to speak with me. After briefly voicing my displeasure calmly to the two employees, they told me to have a nice day. Everywhere I've worked we have had to clean up after guests and customers. This is not a reason to close half of your establishment a half hour early. Hours are hours and associates should own each other's mistakes when faced with a dissatisfied guests regarding something so structured. A better reaction would have been an apology and I might have come back. For an establishment selling Christmas products around Christmas, the staff should have been more helpful. read more

I love Christmas, so when I'm feeling a little down, I pop in to Christmas in New England and just walk around. It's a good, calorie free reset button. The first time I went in I couldn't believe how big it was. I was really bummed when Crate & Barrel closed, but I got over it pretty quickly when I saw what replaced it. Each 'room' has a different theme - there is definitely something for everyone. The ornaments are a bit pricey, but great to give as gifts or, if you're like us, for your one special new ornament you might buy each year. Our new apt is bigger than our last and we call ourselves the Griswald's when it comes to trees - the bigger the better. We will have a lot more tree to decorate this year and can't wait to come here to stock up. read more
