The kids were playing in the party room. Once my kid stepped out to show me what he built, and the party police were quick to make sure he did not leave the room with a LEGO in his hand. While they did have a lot of legos, and my kid had fun, they need to be focused on comfort for the customers and stop being so cheap.

Although it does not carry what I'm specifically interested in, if you like to play board games in a relaxed social atmosphere and pick up more modern-day collectibles, this might be the place for you. Madness has a wide variety of collector card sets, board games, and also modern action figure lines, with Star Wars and G.I. Joe as large focal points. Madness does carry some vintage Star Wars figures from the '70s/'80s but it really shines with the franchise toy lines that have come after that heyday, with deep inventory in the sequel trilogy figures, Power of the Force, post-prequel movie and streaming show figures, and the Retro Collection. This is also the place if you love the Pop! Funko figures (which I do not in the least) as Madness has definitely gone all in on the craze. I found the staff to be helpful with my questions during my visit and they gave me space to think about some items I was mulling over. Although I probably won't be a frequent visitor, I appreciate the unique offerings Madness brings, especially in creating community.

They are apparently not allowed to sell any of it, even if it's so many items out on the floor. This includes clothing, toys, shoes, paintings, and glassware. Even if there are very very similar items next to each other and they all have prices except for the one you want, they aren't allowed to sell them. They pretty much took away the items from my hands, and no one wanted to check the prices of the other similar/exact items for proof. Even for items which are $1.91 (glass mugs) they didn't want to sell them to me. That means that they can't sell over 90% of the cups and mugs section, and that section covers over 6 shelves (half the length of the store!).

They don't have changing rooms, so you can't try on anything before you buy it unless you want to…read moreexpose yourself to other customers on the sales floor. They also don't do returns or refunds. Basically you're just screwed if you buy something and it doesn't fit. This is incredibly unethical. All the usual suspects are here including new releases, fiction, non-fiction, children's etc. They've even managed to wedge in a small Travel and Texas section, which pleases me. Being a somewhat smaller store they have done a few things to save space like shortening the list of available magazines. Where's my Gun and Garden? The In store Starbucks seems way to big and isn't layed out very well. All in all though,I'm glade that Barnes and Noble survived the retail fallout and secondly,opened a new store. Always a good thing and it feels good. Go!
