Breakfast offerings change daily and she uses the freshest ingredients; I'm super picky and every option sounded scrumptious. It was hard to choose just one! HIGHLY recommend the Gazebo room; it is a standalone room situated towards the back of the property and is very private and romantic. The decor is simple, yet elegant. It includes an oversized jet tub, spacious bedroom and bathroom and mini fridge. There is also a fireplace in the room and is stocked with lavender toiletries. My boyfriend and I appreciated the attention to detail in this room. We will absolutely be back! Madeline and Ken were happy to recommend activities and restaurants as well. There is a lot to do in the area and I cannot wait to visit in the fall. Parking off-street, wi-fi, delicious cookies and juice served in the evenings, beautiful grounds and the list goes on. There is no reasonable request Ashley cannot accomodate....there are breakfast choices, all which are absolutely delicious, just like mom used to make. Rooms very comfortable as well as the beds. The snack and coffee bar is always stocked and water in the refrigerator is plenty. There is a sitting room with a TV which is very comfortable and plenty of board games. The only draw back was the lack of a dresser in which to empty my suitcase as I was staying 4 nights....but that's the ONLY negative for me. Ashley is always willing to get the firepit going outside! We grabbed a bottle of wine from one of the many wineries close by and hung out around the fire. An absolute highly recommend gem !!

Before going up, I'd emailed a number of different hotels, guest houses, b&bs, cabin rental places, etc, etc, to find out if any of them had good viewing in the area, or that holy grail, a hot tub with a good eastern view. (Meteors from a hot tub!) Donna Tanner was one of the few people who responded to my quest with enthusiasm, and in fact Rufus Tanner House does possess a hot tub with an essentially unobstructed eastern view. So, we went. Since the weather didn't cooperate, we didn't get too distracted by our original mission, and we able to enjoy the other things RTH offers. The rooms are just lovely, large , many with gas fireplaces, and lovely bathrooms. The food was incredible. Every morning was a gourmet three-course breakfast that left us energetic and totally satisfied. They also feature an array of lovely pets, two cats and a dog, that are friendly, affectionate, and well-groomed. And Donna and Rick themselves are unfailingly hospitable, accommodating, eager to make suggestions for local attractions and local businesses. The location itself is great. You're just over the PA border, and there are several big state parks on that side. On the NY side, you're near Corning, famous for its glass-making, all the finger lakes, and cities like Ithaca and Seneca Falls. We spent a lot of time just tooling around, drinking in the landscape. The finger lakes are themselves amazing, and they're also lined with wineries, if that's your thing.

It's out in the country, very quiet, in a BEAUTIFUL setting....yet it's just a few minutes from Corning. My GPS did me wrong. Both times I stayed there I expected to be at a reasonable hour, but ended up with serious delays and arrived after midnight! Al was up waiting for me both times, and greeted me cheerfully, despite the late hour. THANK YOU, AL! (He even gave me a beer, which I sorely needed by then.) The rooms are glorious, with great beds and bedding, and incredibly comfortable, with private bathrooms. I'm hoping to visit Corning again this year, and will definitely stay with Al and Cathy if I can! (Cathy even had fruit infused water available in the public fridge. Just like downtown Big City, but without the price tag!)

In the bedroom is a frig, microwave, desk, closet. Down the hall is a washer and dryer. Downstairs, there is always fresh coffee, water, yogurt, eggs, etc. There is a gorgeous creek out back. We had so many places to choose to sit and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. In the winter, the home is warmed with a wood stove which makes it very homey and cozy. We are planning our visit this fall. Al and Cathy will be sure you are taken care of and always respect your privacy at the same time. Highly recommend spending time here at Country Living.
