The helpers throughout Elrod's are ready and willing to help load, track down, carry or do anything else to help. They have a large selection of fertilizer, seeds & plants to choose from. We were originally headed to Pikes Nursery but decided to checkout the local option and we are so glad we did! We will be back for all of our planting needs in the future. read more

Something has changed with the hospitality that us usually given there. I called to ask if there was a product in stock and it was not. I asked what they charged per bag and the response given was super unprofessional. The response was "I will tell you it will be more than usual and I'm not giving a quote right now. You could of easily said let me check and get back with you. Congratulations sir you just cost yourself a lot of money and business considering this was for several sports facilities. read more

This is the local garden Center apart from the big box stores. We came in the store and strolled across different aisles to find out they don't carry the plant that we were looking for. The employees of the store were super helpful and helped out with any questions that we might have. We visited this store in wrong time before the season ending of spring(this is pre COVID). Definitely will visit again in the future. I also brought in my grill propane gas tank for refill. This is the cheapest place you can get your gas tank refilled period. read more

Let's start with the good. The folks who work here seemed very friendly to me. One of the workers stopped her watering to walk me around and explain what some of the different plant options were. They're also knowledgeable, both about their plants and their stock. When I mentioned which plant I was looking for, she knew exactly how many they had left and right where they were. I was there as Joe Schmoe homeowner to try to get some plants for my yard. However, they have gobs of stuff, and not just plants. Pavers, sand, all kinds of stone, retaining wall stuff, beekeeping stuff, just about anything having to do with outside, they have it. If you're a landscaper, I imagine this would be a great place to go. Their stuff is more expensive than Home Depot. Literally the price you pay for supporting a home business. They do have some good weekly specials that may be worth checking out. I wish there were a better way to label or arrange their plants. As someone who is pretty ignorant about plants, I don't know what's a perennial, what's an annual, what needs full sun, what needs shade, etc., and there are no such labels on the plants they grow. It's up to me to learn or to ask. Wish they could make some labels for that kind of the thing. The signs and labels they did have were neat, creative, and appealing; they weren't just someone sharpieing on a 3x5 index card. So if you're an expert looking for stuff to work on folks' ground, this might be a good place. I sure wouldn't turn anybody away, but there's also nothing here that sets these guys apart or above the Home Depot garden center. I guess I should add that their plants were in great shape; can't complain about the quality of their stock. read more

We had a great experience here. If you are going to fill your propane tank this is the place. First, they charge you for how much propane is put in the tank, not just a per tank flat fee. So you can fill a 1/2 full tank and pay for 1/2 a tank. The place was pretty cool. There was a lot of beekeeping stuff here. I'm not a beekeeper, but it was fascinating to see it all. The people were very helpful and friendly. They also sell local honey! read more

Elrod Garden Center is a beautiful local business. The owners are on site and extremely knowledgeable. They have a wide variety of beautiful, healthy, native plants that grow well in our area. The building itself has old fashioned items like syrup, nuts, honey, & candy available seasonally. They have some handcrafted items as well. I love shopping Elrod's, particularly if I need large bags of potting soil. You just pay at the counter then drive by the outer building and they load the car/truck for you!! All employees are friendly and helpful!! It's a joy to shop this hometown business!! read more

I was hoping that a small neighborhood business would be welcoming, however they were not. I wish there was an no star option. I wanted to purchase stones for my garden and a man in the building quoted prices that were unclear and then told me to go meet another man outside where the stones were. The man I met outside was very disrespectful and dismissive. He finally approached me asking what I needed and I explained to him. He mentioned weighing the stones on a scale and asked me to move my "car" to align with the scale. I apparently was not close enough and rudely told me to move my car closer to the scale because I was in the way of other customers, which I was not. Then he told me to open my trunk to load stones with out any explanation of what the process was or how to calculate the price of the small amount of stones I needed. When I asked for an explanation he shook his head and said, "I don't have time for this you need to go inside and ask him." Then he walked away. I was done with the behavior and got in my car and left. I was not about to give a penny of my money to a company like this who demonstrated unorganized operations and disrespectful service. Even if they were having a bad day, that is not my problem. Beneficial effective communication is definitely needed at Elrod. I will not be back nor will I recommend them. read more

I hate to give a bad review for this place. I had high hopes for using them every year but after today's visit I'm done. I purchased over $300 of landscaping supplies form them last weekend. I also purchased a delivery of my supplies. I bought 28 landscape block and 12 caps plus other things but due to some circumstances I had to return 9 block and 6 caps. When I went to return them the lady at the desk asked the owner (Sam) on the radio if he would allow it. He said yes (not that he shouldn't they were in perfect condition). She the. Turned to me and said he is really mad that I am returning these(1/6 of my total purchase). She said that they had to jump through a lot of hoops in order to deliver my purchase and that I shouldn't be returning it. I told her that Home Depot is cheaper, closer to my house, and never complains about me returning un used materials. She said I can go their then. Last time I use this place. I hate to do that to a mom and pop kind of place too. read more

The only place I go for my landscape materials. Three weeks ago, I called to ask the owner if they had a 7 gal. Japanese Bloodgood Maple. I was told they had several to choose from. My plan was to go in on Saturday to pick up my tree and she said she would tag the prettiest tree she had for me. I offered to pay over the phone, but she said it would be fine to pay when I arrived. Well....due to exposure to the Covid-19 virus, I was unable to go on that particular Saturday. I called to give her an update on the situation and she told me not to worry my tree was tagged and would be there when I could come. 2 weeks later, I show up to get my tree and sure enough it was tagged and I bought the tree, a hydrangea and a few other things. This is a local mom and pop business that I have been doing business with since the 1st day they opened the doors. I can honestly say, I've never bought plants or trees from any other place since they've opened. Small businesses are important to our community. The folks here are very knowledgeable and care greatly for the community. read more

not a welcoming place at all. I went in to buy some seeds and was looked at with a couple of hard looks and rude stares. I then picked up a seed packet and they then asked if I needed help. The impression I got from the owners is that they don't want customers to touch anything including seed packets. Very rude and no southern hospitality. I think they are burnt out of running this business. I will not shop there again!!!!! Rude people!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time or money!!!!!!!!! read more
