This has always been my airport of choice when given an option of airline hubs for multi-leg…read moreflights. It has also been my choice for international departures when possible, specifically Hong Kong. The size of the airport is easy to navigate and less than an hour flight from my smaller local airport, which usually makes it an affordable option in comparison to Atlanta and New York. During my most recent trips, the airport terminals visited were usually Terminal 1 and 2. All of the elevators, escalators, and moving sidewalks were fully functional. I wish there were more food options during the longer layovers, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.

The good thing about O'Hare is that it is a major hub for flights, both domestic and international, since it sits in the middle of the country. Of course, getting to downtown Chicago or coming from there can be a challenge, depending on when you're traveling. The Chicago Thruway traffic can be a fright, where you will be on the road for anywhere from 50 minutes to 90 minutes. Coming from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, direct flights to Chicago are plentiful, so getting there is a breeze unless there's a blizzard or some other disastrous weather pattern that may lead to permanent doom. Fortunately, that wasn't the case on our flight earlier this month. Now, reaching the baggage claim can be a bit of a walk, and even more so if you don't know where to find the area to pick up your ride share. That can be incredibly confusing, since it's on the Departures level, not the Arrivals level. The food vendors are not that great if you are gluten-free, like my wife is. For me, I found a spot with Chicago dogs and deep dish, which I enjoyed one more time before boarding our flight back to Fort Lauderdale. For as large and important as O'Hare is as a hub, the terminals and gate seating areas are at least 20 years out of date. But it still works as a major airport, with flights going in and out at all hours of the day.

You and Amy were so prepared and organized and went above and beyond to know who we are and what we liked before the wedding. That truly came out in the music and the event and we cannot thank you enough. Even during the hora you reassured me that "I got this" I was so scared but you definitely helped me get through it and it turned out AMAZING!!! The DJ (Dale - an extreme professional at his craft) not only provided musical contributions, but also served as the evening's MC who kept the whole evening right on schedule! Everyone was too busy dancing and having fun to worry about when it was time to cut the cake, when it was time for the first dances, when it was time to do this or that - but Dale kept things moving! MEANWHILE, never once was the dance floor empty because of Dale's excellent song selections! Additionally, Amy Yassinger was in constant contact with us from the beginning planning stages right up to the service and reception. She was available to us throughout the entire process as well as the day of the wedding. A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future.
