A short fuse and a close call. After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future. read more

Enjoyed the wide variety of beer options. The food was okay, but it's definitely worth coming for the beers! I loved their Bear-ie White and Loosey Juicy. We went to Short Fuse Brewing while in town for a business meeting and it was just OK. It was a very nice industrial style building with plenty of seating. I ordered the loaded mac and cheese and it came out fairly cold and was pretty much run of the mill Mac and cheese with some chicken and bacon on top. They do have a nice selection of beers which was definitely the highlight, but they could have been served a bit colder. Service was acceptable. read more

Before a concert at Rosemont, we stopped by for an appetizer and a drink. The 5 oz beer for me was perfect, a dark stout of peanut butter flavored beer. What a treat, as i do love a good fusion. We were greeted and were able to sit wherever so we did. A high top table near the doors and a little bit of heat was what was needed on this cold night. We also had the fried pickles and although I do enjoy good pickles, I am not a fan of the spears fried as they tend to break up att he first bite. Still a good flavor and I was happy with the taste. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't crowded but the cold weather I'm sure played a part. I will be returning next time I go for a concert again as it's only a few minutes away. read more

I've enjoyed Short Fuse Brewing's Bear-ie White beer (made with gummy bears!) before, but we finally made it to suburban Schiller Park over the weekend to check out the actual taproom. My lovely wife and I went with peeps who have been here before, so we were very comfortable in this colorfully decorated environment. We chose our own beer flight - you get 7 glasses for either $15 or $18 depending on the selections that you choose. Although none of the seven beers we chose were as good (to me anyway) as Bear-ie White, it was fun to try a range of beer types. My love and I split the Double Bypass. This was not a surgical procedure, though we did use a knife to cut this tasty sandwich into two halves. The pulled pork and beef brisket piled onto a butter bun was delicious with some beer cheese and a zingy BBQ sauce. The cup of cole slaw was OK, and the pile of fries were kinda meh. One of our peeps enjoyed the January special - a ruben (not reuben?) burger with a side of onion rings (some sides are complimentary, while some incur a $3 upcharge). Another peep let us try a tasty cheese curd. The service was kind and efficient. If you are a guy and need to check out the loo, you may have the unique opportunity to pee into a former beer keg! If you like eating and drinking in a bus terminal, then you might like it. It is far too noisy here to be able to carry on a conversation. If you're into weirdly named craft beers they have them, but if you don't like craft beers their "spirits" menu offers 14 very overpriced options, I mean, c'mon, who doesn't want a $14 Bloody Mary to go with their $21 Hangover burger. Appetizers of Nacho Libre were really good and it's really big. Fried pickles were good. Be careful they are quarter sliced pickles fried. But still good. The burgers and chicken were great. Hang over burger was fantastic. I'd pick the beer battered onion rings over the fries or the Elote. The drinks were good banana milk (wife had) was good and they made a good classic old fashion. Checked out this pretty cool brewery in Schiller Park that was bigger and better than expected. It has a ton of beers to choose from along with food. Short Fuse is located on River Road not far from all the stuff in Rosemont. Located next to the haunted house. This is a fast bus ride from the Blue Line station. After going in and checking out the merchandise, we got seats at the bar. It's a bigger place than expected. They apparently have been around for awhile now, so they have come up with all kinds of beer styles. A lot to choose from. It's $5 a pint at happy hour. That's one of the best values you can get for beer as good as this. Best one we had was the Vocal Jam. This is a sour and was the 2021 GABF Silver Medal winner. Food is also a winner, and we got some of it. There's stuff such as burgers and pizza. It's $12 for the B.Y.O. Burger. They also have the Incredible Patty for a plant based experience. A lot of the rest of the menu has barbecue. There's pork sandwiches that are popular. Great place to hit up if close to O'Hare or Rosemont and looking for lots of beers and something to eat. It has a ton of good stuff to choose from. There's an impressive amount of beers, and there's food options for meat eaters and vegetarians. read more

First off, the beers here are excellent. They have a wide array of styles and all of them are solid. The one issue we had was a beer that clearly had an issue. We brought that to the attention of the bartender and they checked, agreed, and immediately fixed it. We also tried some of the food items and were not disappointed. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating to us. And they were super good at giving recommendations for the beers as well. The brewery itself is beautiful with multiple TVs with sports and such on, huge roll up doors for when the weather is good, and ample seating. This is a fun place with good food and beer. Came for dinner and drinks some 7pm on a Thursday night (before checking out the Haunted House 13th Floor Chicago nearby). First, loved the art and overall vibe and how open and modern the taproom space is. It's very inviting and comfortable - perfect for a quiet spot at the bar watching TV or a fun group outing at a table. Secondly, the beer flights (7 5oz pours) are an amazing deal with 20+ delicious beers on tap - really can't go wrong there! - and the food was delicious and impressive. Service was chill and alright - a bit slow several times - hence the 4/5 instead of full stars. But, nothing too terrible, just something noted. For food we had the dangerously filling but delicious appetizer Smoked Bacon Candy (thick cut smoked pork belly glazed in maple syrup, brown sugar, cayenne); Texas Rodeo (this meaty monstrosity of a sandwich on Texas Toast was phenomenal!); and a perfectly light and crunchy Thai Salad with lightly blackened Shrimp and great sesame ginger dressing. Portions are huge and definitely perfect to share between two - fantastic value and again, super delicious. The beers were all so good I'm not even going to get into them - go try them yourself! What an amazing and eclectic beer selection! It's possible to order up to seven samples in their sampler tray. And they are legit pours. 5 ounces each. I wasn't disappointed with any of my choices and ranged from IPA, to wheat, to sour, porter, and even Oktoberfest. Delighted with flavor profiles on all but one. Descriptions are on point. All menu viewing is done via a QR code on the table. The menu is quite extensive. We received a burrito by mistake. We had ordered the taquitos. They gave us the burrito any way. It came with three little dipping cups (guac, sour cream, salsa) and what appeared to be homemade tortilla chips that were super tasty. I cut the burrito in half thinking I could have a few bites and then it wouldn't all go to waste. And it was so delicious I ended up eating nearly the whole thing. It was SO TASTY. Good spice. Was passing through, and on the way home, my fiancée and stopped by. It's not hard to find, so no excuses! It's a bigger brewery with plentiful seating. They serve food and beer. To preface, we did not order food. We sat at the bar; the 2 bartenders were busy, but they got to us fairly quick. I ordered an 11oz vocal jam sour. It was alright, not bad, but I'll try a different sour next time I'm here. They have a wide selection of craft beers with multiple sours (my fav). I also like that they have multiple pour sizes (e.g., 5, 11, 16). They did have a lot of kids screaming and running around. Several of them were playing with their toys crawling on the floor. Overall, it was a clean place, and the service was friendly. As mentioned, I'll try a different pour next time and maybe some food. Happened to be uncharacteristically in this area, and stopped in! Beers are great - I had the Gummi Bear beer - no noticeable taste of gummy bears, but is was a nice, light pilsner. Also had the Shrimp Burger, which was VERY good - tasty and juicy, and not as heavy as a regular burger. The size of the entrees is predictably ENORMOUS. I come to Flashback weekend every year down the street and I practically live here when I'm in town. They have good special deals daily and their burgers were delicious. Fast friendly service was the norm here. Our bartender was outstanding and the beer flight was great, enjoyed them all, which isn't always the case at breweries. The Cheeseburger was a little dry, but a filling portion of food. I would try something different the next time I come. The ambiance was typical for a brewery. Ok, landed at O'Hare on a trip to Chicago / Milwaukee and were super hungry and did not want to want until we got to Milwaukee with our rental car and Yelped around O'Hare for a cool microbrewery restaurant for lunch and found Short Fuse. SO SO GLAD WE DID. Took the rental car over there and had an awesome round of "tastings" with our lunch. Short Fuze had like 24 beers on tap - insane!! They have all types - but we prefer dark beers (as you can see in the photo) - and their selection was literally over the top. You can check the menu as I am sure they change all the time. After lunch we bought two 4 packs of the Peanut Butter Cup Stout (our absolute favorite), one 4 pack of the German Chocolate Stout, and one 2 pack of Blind Fury which is a Stout with vanilla, Oreo and marshmallow accents. Super unique and cool. (The Peanut Butter Stout reminded us a ton of one our favorites - the Denver Beer Co Graham Cracker Porter.) We also liked the Amber and the Irish beer a lot too, but we have to be sober at some point this weekend The beer selection as I note was just top notch, service (thanks to Dylan!!) was also over the top and the food was super good. This is a micro brewery - it has great micro brewery food - I had a great pulled pork sandwich, my son had an awesome burger and my wife had the "burnt ends" brisket dish. Really great job. Ordered calamari originally but the server said that theyre not gonna serve it to us coz they think the shrimp is no good. Better give the customers a heads up than having GI issues later... Loved this brewery! Perfect location near the airport and convention center so this place definitely gets consistent foot traffic. The brewery is larger than I expected. They have a beautiful long bar as well as plenty of tables and seating for large parties, events, or just a simple date night. They have a large beer list; over 20 beer options. I wanted to try a few so I ended up doing the kamakazee beer flight for $18 and tried 7 beers. Dylon was our server and was so friendly and knowledgeable. We also tried the new burned brisket ends which was a new appetizer addition to the menu for the month of December. Definitely recommend coming here and trying their beers. They had a deal on uber eats and I've always wanted to try this place. I ordered the pulled pork and bacon candy. I received the food within 25 minutes, so I was pretty happy about that. The food was COLD and the pulled pork was incredibly DRY. You can tell it had been sitting out for a while. It was cool to the touch and the coleslaw was almost room temperature. Bbq sauce and the bacon candy had a good flavor. The bacon candy was room temperature as well. 2 stars for the flavor but that's as high as I'll go. I won't be ordering from them again. read more

This is an update of a previous review from a couple of years ago. I once again love this place! I always loved coming here: sitting inside in the gorgeous taproom, and especially, during warmer weather, sitting outside and watching the jets, seemingly moving as if in a dream as they slowed dramatically during their approach to O'Hare, glide by overhead. They grew larger and larger and larger until they were larger than life, and floated in, past, and on, each one a reminder of trips taken and adventures yet to come. It's crazy to think that at a moment's notice with a credit card (one not drawn too low, mind you), one can walk in, buy a ticket, and be most any airport in the world within 24 hours. Anyway, after a bitter divorce (brewery hyperbolic disclaimer), I broke the seal and Dillon and the rest of the staff was really great. So...me and Short Fuse, we're back together again. read more

I was familiar with Short Fuse from their Beer-I-White brew I stumbled across during a previous visit to Chicago, so when we were looking for something close to our hotel, this fit the bill. Facility is pretty cool and the artwork and theme is great. The building has character and not pretentious like other up scale breweries I've been to. Staff was great. Super cheery and attentive. Took the time to joke with us and made sure we got everything we needed. We had a Thai salad and the Rodeo sandwich. Both we were ok, but a little underwhelming. The bbq was a little dry, but did have good flavor. The salad was just a lot of cabbage and very little chicken (added a protein). Beer was good (English pub ale) and the price was very reasonable. I like Short Fuse Brewing's beers that I've tried from the store or at festivals so I was excited to check out their brewery. My wife and I went on a Saturday night and there was a decent amount of bar stools and tables taken. We found a few seats but were asked to move down for other people who arrived after us which was odd. The beer was fine but service was pretty slow - we decided not to stay for dinner and close out after one beer each. We waited a bit before a bartender took my wife's unfinished beer. The beer was pretty decent - nothing amazing, but good - and really cheap ($11 for two 11oz pours). The vibes and service were off though. We sat at the bar, and as we were in the middle of ordering, two guys interrupted us and the bar tender made us move seats down a couple so they could sit down. The guys next to us ended up not being able to figure out how to use the QR code menu (and bugged my husband for help because the bartender was less than helpful). We overheard someone from the staff keep repeating that the menu is online when they indicated they couldn't figure it out before bringing them a paper menu after a few minutes. Service was slow and we decided not to order anything else because we were already put off. When my husband flagged down the bartender to close out, she grabbed my beer that I very clearly was still drinking from, took his card, and told him he had to walk to the end of the bar to sign. I said that I wasn't finished with my beer and grabbed my beer back from where she put it down to finish it, and she didn't so much as apologize for the misunderstanding.
