I have never felt like 'a number' and they always spend time and answer all my questions. Sometimes the answer is 'I'm not sure' but it's always followed up with 'but I will find out for you / ask a specialist'. I have never had a problem with under / over servicing (never recommended unnecessary tests) and they will always discuss pros / cons of treatment options. There is always a follow-up phone call to check on the progress of my dog following a consultation. I feel all the staff genuinely care about my dogs and are passionate about their job. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have been taking my dogs there for as long as I can remember and have always received exemplary service. There are currently four vets and six nurses on staff and they are always really friendly. They treat all kinds of animals including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, rodents, guinea pigs and ferrets. They provide general check-ups as well as more generalized services like radiology, ultrasound and surgery. My dogs tend to love it because they get given treats from their favourite vet Dr. Kent Marshall. He has treated all three of my dogs over the years and always remembers my family when we turn up for various problems like getting the sock my dog swallowed removed from his tummy - yep, that was an embarrassing visit! The clinic has a yard around it where dogs can have one last toilet stop before their appointment and stretch their legs. Inside there is a waiting room, which gets pretty lively when there are a lot of pets. There are pet toys and accessories available for sale in here as well as pet food. Behind the counter is well stocked with various medications that you may purchase upon recommendation from one of the trusted vets. Vaccinated puppies aged between eight and sixteen weeks are eligible to participate in four-week long puppy school. At only $77 for a four week course taught by the really nice vet nurses this is awesome value and your puppy will have a heap of fun meeting the other dogs. Covered in colourful cartoon murals this place is really fun to go to as a kid and animal lovers will enjoy the short interactions with different kinds of pets in the waiting room. The clinic operates from Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm, Saturday 8am-3pm and Sunday 10am-12noon. They are closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

The staff are great, and the Vets themselves are really friendly, and genuinely concerned for your pet. Each time my dog has been in, they have completed her treatment with a one on one chat about her health and what procedures went on. Another great thing about Boronia Vet is the price. I tried another vet once, and found their prices 20% higher than those here. Having been completely refurbished recently, the premises are clean and modern, and although I'm sure the animals don't really notice, it is a nice touch for the owners.

We'd been using a competing vet on Lygon Street and found them to be less so, and constantly pushing expensive insurance plans whilst giving hypochondriacal diagnoses. So we changed vets and gave Fitzroy Veterinary Clinic a chance. First impressions? It's busy. Busy and efficient. The crowd dispersed after a few minutes but it gave us a chance to see what it's like here when they're under pressure, and it was a relaxed environment. There's a dog side and a cat side to this place, and decorated accordingly. Our own little fur-ball doesn't travel well and gets a bit nervous in new places, but this was as good as we could hope for, given our in-and-out 'check up' we were there for. We were kept waiting for half an hour beyond our allotted time, but I suspect we arrived at the tail-end of a particularly busy period. Before long, we'd completed the forms and were ushered in to see a very friendly, plain-speaking vet who never once attempted to sign us up to an insurance plan, or push anything other than an honest verdict on how little Samson was doing.
