Upscale for the area Indian restaurant. Probably the best restaurant of any kind in Eltham.

It seemed like a good option because it had good reviews, and I wanted to try some Himalayan/Nepalese. I wasn't too hungry, so I just went with the house special momos (Nepalese minced lamb dumpling wrapped in dough served with tomato chutney). They look similar to Chinese soup dumplings, but taste very different. The momos are dry, so you definitely need the sauce they serve it with. The filling also has a bit of a curry kick to it. I think I'd prefer the soup dumpling. I also shared some of the garlic naan, which I really enjoyed. Wouldn't mind trying some more Himalayan/Nepalese food!

The restaurant is very cosy with about 10 tables and was half full but I saw many people who came and ordered take away at the bar. The staff were very polite and attentive but not pushy and gave us all the time we needed to choose. We had the veggie momo (amazing slightly spicy dumplings) and some plain and spicy papadums, the latter came with tasty chutneys. My boyfriend got the chicken korma and I ordered prawn masala - both delicious with creamy sauces. We also ordered the staffed paratha and basmati fried rice as sides which we ate with whatever was left from the chutneys. All that was digested with some white house wine (me) and a Cobra. Dinner was great and we were not interrupted by waiters clearing plates, they gave us plenty of time to enjoy ourselves. We left full (to the brim) with warmess in our stomachs (from the spices) and in our hearts (from the great time we had). I would definitely be coming back and reccommending this place!

Somehow I've completely missed reviewing this place. This is my local curry house. Granted…read moreBlackheath has no less than four at any given time, but this is the often go to choice for us. A few years ago, a friend stayed with us and we took him here. He lived in India for a bit and not pleased with the items on the menu, asked for an off menu dish -- butter chicken. The waiter said they could definitely make it as it is what they normally make for the staff after hours. This opened our world to the loveliness of butter chicken, which is now my favourite dish at Khans. The choices are plentiful and all of it is very good. The service is very good and they are quite attentive. I am even tempted to give an extra star simply because when service a pint of beer to myself and brother-in-law, the waiter got mine safely in my hands and spilled the BIL pint all down his back. Classic! Anyway, a great place to get an Indian in the village!

I raised it quietly with him at the time, but he did not acknowledge it. I subsequently became severely nauseous and suffered from sickness that lasted all night. I emailed restaurant management the next day to report this privately. Having received no response, I followed up again three weeks later. Management has completely ignored both messages. Because of the lack of response to a hygiene failure, I have reported this matter to the local Environmental Health department. I cannot recommend this establishment due to the poor hygiene and lack of customer service.
