4/5/23- we are there at 1:00pm and we were looking for home cooked food from India and not all the fancy dining options or 3 plates for $49. We wanted authentic home cooked meals. Found this bad boy. Just a 1/2 mile from an Underground and worth it. Will add more later. Check the photos out. Very simple place to eat inside. The employees were very friendly and willing to offer suggestions. I have no idea why more people aren't going here for authentic home cooked India food. Don't waste time going to the fancy places where you pay 4 to 5 times more than this place. They have it all. About 100 dishes to choose from. We ordered 3 different plates and 1 appetizer. Get the bottle water there though. The tap water looked questionable. Still wish I can post more than 10 photos. Started to eat before I took photographs. Sorry. If you pass the Starbucks in the left from the Underground you are just about 50 years away straight ahead. Be careful crossing the Round about for cars. Also, no bathrooms there as well. We ordered 2 of the item #2. Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Naan & Raita (contains nuts) for 8.50 each and one #10 Lamb Curry, Rice, Naan & Raita.. for 8.99, extra Naan bread and an appetizer starter of the veggie Samosa for 3.99. Everything was superb. I would have preferred the Samosa to be a little more crunchy on the outside but it was good. It came in for a pair. So split is between 2 persons.

I am from the US and heard that the Indian food in London is spectacular, so I had to give it a try while I was visiting! I would have to say that Indian food is one of my favorites, so I was going into this experience with high expectations. The place had your average shop-type restaurant atmosphere, nothing special, but I always prioritize food quality over the atmosphere anyways. I ordered the butter chicken and chicken samosas and my friend (a London native), who has never tried Indian food before, ordered the butter chicken and vegetable samosas. We both got naan as a side. The food came out quickly! We were extremely hungry so this was a pleasant surprise. What was even better was the food. The samosas tasted less fatty than the ones I have had back in the US, but still delicious and flavorful all the same. The butter chicken was creamy and wonderful as well. There was less chicken in there and more sauce, which was a bit problematic because we ordered naan as our side dish - we had a lot of leftover sauce. I would definitely recommend giving it a go, but get rice so you can eat it all up! The only thing was that they were a bit pushy with asking us to leave at the end. They cleared our table and that was fine, but the waiter also came back and took away our waters before asking if we were done. He explained as he was taking the waters that they were closing, and it might have just been miscommunication on our ends, but we did read online that they were open until 11 and it was only 10:30 when I checked the clock. Regardless, I would still 100% recommend!

I do not eat a lot of Indian food, but I thought this was very good. I had the Chicken Vindaloo, menu says it's VERY HOT, it was spicy, and I like spicy, but don't be intimidated by the warning. Enjoy.

Cheap but good, that's it in a nutshell! £5.25 for chicken vindaloo, just the right amount of spiciness: hot without going overboard. And taste & texture was close to perfect. Rice was rather normal, naan quite good. All in all not perfect but very good, especially for this price. Place itself is not luxurious in any way but not run down or dirty either. So perfectly ok for lunch but not a place for romantic dinner as such... Service was quick and rather friendly

    spicy chicken vindaloo! mmmm!!

We made a stop here while in London. Very good food and fast, friendly service! Take away if you want, not much ambiance.

The chicken tikka masala was a 10/10. Great food and very cheap prices. Would recommend to anyone looking for good Indian cuisine.

We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.

We were mostly nervous that it was going to be a much nicer restaurant that we were dressed for (which was very casual and sweaty after a mid-June day walking all over London), but despite the white tablecloths and general fancier feeling of the inside of the restaurant, we were not made to feel out of place. The outside and signage are more low-key/casual looking so you need to be looking for it too, Cafe Ishaq won't be jumping out at you. It was empty of customers when we entered, around 7pm, so we were seated immediately. Cold waters were ordered all around, as well as several bottles of wine to share amongst the many of us. Prices are shockingly decent, but then there is a sort of hidden service fee (a percentage of the bill) added on at the end, much like in the US when some places have an automatic tip added on for parties over a certain number of people. This was just a percentage added to every bill. Like...just make the prices what they are gonna be...that it one of the good things about Europe, that taxes are included in the price and people are paid a better wage so tipping is not often done. Still, you get generous helpings of food for the price. If I recall (I forgot to take a picture/take note of what I ordered...and we all ended up sharing everything amongst the 7 of us) I got the Saag Paneer, which is my Indian restaurant go-to because YUM. And it was yummy! I also got an order of the Keema Naan to share, which was soggy, but flavorful. We all enjoyed our meal here. The food was delicious, and we were never once rushed. Service got a little slow after food was delivered and getting our checks to pay and leave was a minor ordeal. We tried to be clear about whether and how checks would/could be split, but it did not happen correctly. It wasn't too terribly over-the-top pricey that we couldn't manage and pay each other back over the rest of the time in London. If you want low-key, unhurried, and tasty Indian food, this is a good place to get it. I am not sure I would say you should go out of your way to come here, but if you were in the area, keep it on your radar.
