Dinner with the family.... Let's experience the curry in London!!

Chanced upon this place while looking for dinner options in the area ... glad to have stopped by and experienced the London mutton dhansak . Everything on our order was excellent, their specialty is tandoori and we got the mixed grill which I was not particularly wowed. Our server Dipanker was very courteous and polite. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

    Mango Lassi of my dreams.

I had dinner here while visiting London. It was incredible, despite being during their renovation the restaurant was clean and very pleasant. The food was incredible. The Mango lassi I had was the best one I've ever had! I highly recommend eating here if you are ever in London. The owner was very kind and helpful too! Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant!

Tower Bridge Road is redeemed by two things. Tower Bridge and Tower Tandoori. This curry tavern has been open since 1978 and is a saffron coloured beacon on this pretty grim high street. The menu is typically large with the usual selection of mussalas, birianies and kurma's. But the dishes are spicy and fragrant, without that heavy curry sweetness that lesser kitchens tend to produce. I had the Lamb Tikka Mussala which had a lovely, smoky flavour. Prices are slightly above average but not outrageously so for the quality. The restaurant is cosy with warm colours, wooden floors and earthy textures. Service is friendly and I recommend booking for dinner.

I have heard a few people describe this place as the best Indian restaurant in Brighton. Whilst I…read moredon't think I've eaten in enough to warrant corroborating that statement, I can say I ate here recently and it was pretty damn good! What I particularly like about Shahi Tandoori is that it is split into two quite separate spaces, one side is the restaurant and one is the takeaway. This is genius! There's nothing more annoying than people wandering through while you're eating to pick up their order, letting a draft in and spoiling the ambiance of the restaurant. Well Shahi has it covered. Food-wise, the side dishes are all great...I particularly like the Bombay Aloo, the Sag Paneer and the Onion Bhajis- delicious! I can also recommend the Vegetable Balti and Chicken Tikka Masala. Since this place is just around the corner, we often pop down to pick up a few side dishes to go with a home-cooked curry and they never look at us funny, despite our paltry order! I like them.

It's located in an odd place at the bottom of Ditchling Rise, because of the location you might never have come this way, I really would recommend it though. 'Shahi' is a little bit cheaper then the more central Indian restaurants (and take aways, they do both). The food is also of a very good quality; I had the rogan josh and passanda, both of which I could eat 7 days a week. The area isn't the nicest, the decor is a little dated, but it's a fantastic place filled with Indian charm (and food).

They have done an impressive job on the remodel updating it with a bright and clean interior tastefully decorated and well equipped. Two large screen TV's play Bollywood music videos and sporting events. When you enter there is a small kebab shop and takeaway, and you enter through the second set of doors to the dining room. The food is amazing! A dazzling array of choices and some special items. We ordered Karahi Fish, Karahi Methi Gosht, Tarka Daal and a whole tandoori chicken. This was more than enough food for four and we were all very happy to try so many tasty items. First the fish was perfectly prepared and delicately spiced. It had a great texture and wasn't "swimming" in sauce. The lamb curry was ordered spicy and the chef actually came to ask us how spicy we actually wanted it, so we explained EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA hot.. he laughed and asked if we were sure and we said we were. He delivered! It was a spicy inferno without being overpowering. The daal was very nice but the highlight was the Tandoori chicken.. it was the most flavorful one we had tried in a long time and came out perfectly moist and juicy and oozing with flavour, and at 7 quid it was quite a deal as well. We also noted on the menu the chefs special.. a WHOLE LEG OF LAMB! We vowed a night of hedonism and drinking accompanied by a lamb feast. We followed through the following week and we were rewarded for our determination with a stunning piece of culinary magic. The leg of lamb was so tender and flavourful that we decided to make it a monthly ritual.. but be forewarned you have to order it 24 hours in advance.. so think ahead! The Lahore Masala House is a welcome addition to the Kentish Town landscape.. they have great lunch deals and they also stay up late for those leaving the locals or the Forum.

They have a proper ethos - "We cannot afford to be expensive, but we can afford to be the best!" and it seems that all the food done here (with no addititives or pre-prepared sauces) is expertly cooked and spiced. Lahore One attracts a rolling clientele of hungry suited city workers and the local Indian population alike, which is great to see. Everyone's seated at simple wooden tables and benches. The manager (Jim I think) is absolutely charming and I was told by two diners that the kebab rolls are "the best in the East End". We had a really fine selection of curries, I tried only the vegetarian options, and they were as good as I've ever had. Found it really beautiful approach to food and serving. Basically if you're a fan of curry, this is probably one of the best places in London. Say no more. If you're not a fan of curry, come here to see what all the fuss is about. It's open throughout the week between 12 am and 12 pm and I think it's a good idea to book or get there early if you're going in the evening. Can't sell this place highly enough...

However, I just wasn't that impressed with the food. Everything just seemed rather overcooked, too greasy and tasted much the same. The portions were massive though - you definitely get value for money here. I love the fact that Lahore One is one of the few places left in London that still operates a BYO policy. Apart from the obvious cost benefit, this also means that they serve the most delicious salti lassi - in jugs, I'd happily drink one all by myself!
