Staying in the area, we were looking for a solid Indian restaurant. Sherry found Tower Tandoori on Yelp. Our waiter Ali was top notch. Friendly and attentive. We started with a basket of pappadum with four sauces, a samosa chaat and then shared tandoori puri chicken and palak paneer. Everything was spot on - service, taste, portions, all great. We ordered delivery from here after getting in late on our first night in London. Loved the quick delivery and how everything was packaged well and still hot. There was some hits and a few more misses. I'm not a fan of this chicken tikka - the meat was dry. The palak paneer was good--wish we ordered more than a side of it. The samosas were some of the best we had and went very well with the sweet chutney. The garlic naan was okay. Perhaps we could have been more adventurous with the dishes we ordered but these seem like staple dishes. read more

Ok I gave this restaurant a one star because it didn't have an option of anything lower than that. My family and I were in London for a vacation and we looked up restaurants (it was about 7pm) that was serving Indian food and we found this restaurant. So we take an uber and go to the restaurant. They open the door for us and then all goes downhill pretty quickly from there. The guy asks us "table for how many" and we say "4", he then says please wait let me go get your server. Now this restaurant had one family sitting and eating there and the rest of the 10-15 tables were all EMPTY! Then this second guy comes over with two menus and hands my husband a "printed list of rules", the rules say you have to spend atleast 20pounds per person in that restaurant or you won't be seated and some other rules on there. This guy then proceeds to tell us "we are fully booked but once you tell what you would like to order I will see what I can do". This is where we should have left but we were browsing through the menu. Now the manager comes over to us and tells us "I wanted to let you guys know that this isn't really an authentic Indian restaurant so if you are looking for something Indian this may not be it" mind you every single menu items is as Indian as it can get! At this point I said if you want us to leave we can leave. And the guy goes "our 3 tables are booked at 8pm so if you guys want to come back after that we can see what we can do" . That did it for us. So he has 10 tables empty, 3 of them are booked but apparently he cannot seat us and expects us to believe that a menu full of Indian food isn't really Indian. There are tons of other restaurants near the tower bridge however if you would like to either get humiliated or just be in for a plain rude encounter then absolutely try this place out, you won't be disappointed! Rest assured Tower Tandoori we will be talking about our experience with you for a very long time and warning our family and friends to not go to your restaurant. Delicious Indian food. Friendly staff. Close to Tower Bridge in Bermondsey. We were able to walk in on a Friday night without a reservation and were seated right away. The butter chicken tikka masala was our favorite. High quality ingredients and tasty sauce. Samosas were rather small but no other critique of the food. read more

Chanced upon this place while looking for dinner options in the area ... glad to have stopped by and experienced the London mutton dhansak . Everything on our order was excellent, their specialty is tandoori and we got the mixed grill which I was not particularly wowed. Our server Dipanker was very courteous and polite. Tower Bridge Road is redeemed by two things. Tower Bridge and Tower Tandoori. This curry tavern has been open since 1978 and is a saffron coloured beacon on this pretty grim high street. The menu is typically large with the usual selection of mussalas, birianies and kurma's. But the dishes are spicy and fragrant, without that heavy curry sweetness that lesser kitchens tend to produce. I had the Lamb Tikka Mussala which had a lovely, smoky flavour. Prices are slightly above average but not outrageously so for the quality. The restaurant is cosy with warm colours, wooden floors and earthy textures. Service is friendly and I recommend booking for dinner. read more

Fantastic staff and flavors of food. I have been visiting this establishment for two years now during my business trips to London. Besides eating I suggest a conversation with the owner Suhel (3rd generation owner) or anyone on staff and you will be blessed with laughs and knowledge. Despite also being quite busy, they quickly and quietly moved tables around and we were in. Had a Terrible experience, first of all the food isn't authentic and it was cold. second, it's not at a walking distance from the bridge or the tower and lastly, the staff is very rude and arrogant and when I complained, the manager/owner (bald guy) who was drunk (10:45 PM Sunday Night) started yelling and screaming to an extent that we had to not only call the police but also leave the restaurant. I have been to London many times and this restaurant has by fair given one of the best authentic Indian/Bangladesh experiences. The staff were very polite and helpful. We really enjoyed our meal. Great atmosphere with traditional music to tantalize the taste buds. They have got great service. Amit our waiter was very attentive and ensured all our culinary needs were met. We came here after a few, ahem, drinks on a friday night. We just wanted filling up with food at a handy location, but in fact we had a splendid meal - a lot better than I expected given the sometimes mediocre to downright poor Indian food you can get (outside of my beloved Tooting, that is). The staff were really accommodating and patient, not to mention friendly and funny too. They didn't mind our boisterousness and accommodated a late order, demands not to serve the boys any rice... and so on. And to the food - my lamb spinach dish was absolutely delicious, with lots of lamb which was tender and tasty. In fact, everything was good, even the korma packed a bit more flavour than usual. Perhaps the muttar paneer was a little disappointing, but it's a minor niggle - and I have a muttar paneer long-standing favourtie that I suspect will never be bettered. Portions are huge by the way! We were in good spirits do I didn't really notice the price being unreasonable, we had a LOT of food and a few drinks and it came in around £20 a head - for good quality and a nice place. I'd definitely go back if in the area - especially to avoid Brick Lane which I just can't stand. read more

This place has a perfect location being just around the corner from Tower Bridge i figured after sight seeing i grub on some good ole indian food. The place is cozy and the staff were very professional. We got seated and were offered the 2 course meal for 12.50 (Pounds) which was more than adequate. I had the Murgh Tikka and the Murgh Biryani and i must say it was delicious. It wasnt quite the American sized portions i get in Dallas but it was flavorful and the setting was very nice. The only extraordinary thing was that my beer did cost 7 pounds which is a bit ridiculous but then again i am on vacation so who cares. I haven't been to London since 2007, yet it still occurred to me that I needed to write a review about this place already. That's right -- I still think about the food here three years later. It's not necessarily the best Indian food I've had in my life, but it was flavorful, well-executed and conveniently located near my friend's flat. Fantastic food, excellent delivery service. The range of dishes is head and shoulders above your normal curry house. And the quality of the food is outstanding. The Dungari Murgh was sensational. The service is very attentive. I moved out of the area and, a year later when back in the area, rang for a delivery for old times sake. I was amazed they remembered my name. After going to this restaurant a number of times, I am sorry to say that it has taken a particularly poor path of late. Upon recently attending the restaurant, firstly we were served by someone with incredibly poor English who could hardly take our order. He was very pushy to try and up sell which was a mild irritation. However, when they served one of our courses of food, which was barely edible for consumption, we quietly mentioned this to the server first who said 'well other people like it' and then at the end of the meal to the owner. We were presented the bill with the course remaining on it, were offered no alternatives and then told rudely by the owner that 'it must be you because I got this frozen squid in only yesterday'! Finally and most importantly, a meal for over £100 for 3 people drinking water and having only 2 courses is ridiculously expensive. Over the years we have been loyal customers of this restaurant, pushing people to go to it and even Tweeting about the place. However in recent years the two young owners have become arrogant, expensive and I am sorry to say complacent in their standards. We will not be going back again and would advise others not to either. read more

I wasn't very impressed by this place. The decor was a bit nasty for my liking, and I didn't care much for the ambiance of the place. The service was a little overzealous too. We were asked 3 times by 3 people if we were ready to order drinks, for example. The restaurant seems to cater to people who would otherwise be in Bengal Tiger, which is probably why I found it so annoying. Being Indian, when I go for a curry I want something more authentic than this, and don't really want to be mollycoddled. The food was average. Not up to the standard I am used to, and I thought it was expensive for what it was. I can get better food for 60% of the price just north of the river in Whitechapel. They also spelt everything strangely on the menu. Now I know this is transliterated from another language, but really, when you go to most restaurants everything is spelt the same way, so there's absolutely no need to change it other than to be awkward. read more

Very much a diamond in the rough. Sitting in amongst dodgy looking pubs, fried chicken shops and other such fun the restaurant stands out massively and once you get inside you feel like you could easily be much further up the road in Borough; but with far better prices : Alongside your normal curry house fair the specials are also well worth trying (and seem to change on a regular basis so are always good and seasonal). With friendly staff who are clearly ecstatic to work there, great food and good prices the only downside is when you leave and you remember where you are! read more

This place has such incredibly tasty dishes and the service is very friendly and relatively quick. However, there was a review we read before heading in here that turned out to be exactly accurate about the one downside of Tower Tandoori: they try to upsell everything. So go in there expecting things that taste awesome (chicken tikka was the best we've had and the jalfrezi was fantastic) but know that they charge for papadoms, sides of rice, chutney and just about everything else that is often complimentary at other places. Having known this before we went in, there were no surprises when the bill came and we were really satisfied with the experience. read more

This place was very good, lovely service from Amit among other staff. Only complaint was the korma tasted sweet, and that didn't mesh with my personal preference. However, the Lamb Shank that my partner ordered was incredibly tender and delicious and we ended up swapping and he enjoyed my korma. Worst Indian meal I've eaten in England. The lamb chop in the mixed starter smelled funky. Worst of all was the lamb jalfrezi. I've tasted better made from a jar you buy at the supermarket. The meat was tough and tasteless. No Indian flavors, more like a stir fry with a bit of tomato sauce added. The one thing u'd expect to be safe anywhere- samosas, came w/ the dough still raw & stretchy on it (really! this wasn't a good start & led everyone to believe they're using frozen ones that someone forgot to leave in the fryer long enough) it went downhill from there - chicken that was overcooked, rubbbery & had an "off taste", undercooked veggies in other dishes.... Not all their fault but when a belligerant patron continually disrupted Christmas dinner, they should have called the police immediately. Instead, they attempted to resolve the issue which turned violent and dangerous for diners. Punching, broken glass, swearing, yelling and constant harrassment from the disturbed woman created an unsafe environment for all. The owners tried, but were unsuccessful, in handling the situation. We left as the fight upended a table with glass flying in our direction. The rest of the restaurant emptied as well. I wish quicker action was employed to save everyone's holiday meal. Just a little walk down memory lane. The last time I visted tower tandoori, was a very long time ago. Gone are the traditional booths, red carpet and the water feature. The restaurant is welcoming and a modern dining room is tastefully decorated with a bohemian feel. The food is not the usual curry house fair but not to modern to put you off. My dish a keralan coastal cod special aptly described by the waiter was everything I could have hoped for. Well presented in a banana leaf boat with a cone of lemon rice, I was pleasantly surprised. Even though I was dining on my own, I was made to feel welcome and no doubt I will be returning next month when I visit the area again. read more

This is a gem of an Indian restaurant in Bermondsey. Located in Tower Bridge Road, it is close to Shad Thames and London Bridge. I am told that it has been around for years and is somewhat of an institution in the area, having undergone a relaunch not long ago. The decor is modern and the menu varied- all for a very reasonable price. I always seem to go for the Chicken Biryani which is an enormous dish which comes with a huge vegetable curry on the side. The service is friendly and efficient and they also do deliveries for those evenings when all you feel like doing is lying in front of X factor with a good curry and beer! It is also a good venue for a party as there is lots of space and meals and drinks are reasonably priced. read more

I visited Tower Tandoori for the first time this afternoon as I was in the area for a meeting and was lured in by the inviting aroma of spices wafting outside the restaurant. The decor was very tasteful and service impeccable. Our waiter was confidently able to guide us through the menu and recommend some dishes for my mother in-law who is not a fan of spicy Indian curries! I highly recommend Tower Tandoori for its fresh ingredients, great presentation and impeccable service. Will be back soon! read more
