Diana, Jess and Val have all been extremely welcoming and never once did our family feel that we were camping rather, we felt as if we were "home" and felt like we became part of the family there. That being said, our campsite was quite a different story. We were squished between two campers, with drinking and partying going on until two a.m. If you go for the reasonably priced cottage, it is quiet and all the surrounding campers are nice. The tent sites looked quiet, although wet, as well. Steer clear of the trailer site, it is cramped and noisy.

The app was awesome because it made it so easy to see all the crafts, activities, and events happening throughout the day, so we never felt like we were missing out. The campground itself was well cared for. The pool was clean, the showers were nice, and I can't even explain how much we appreciated the air conditioned bathrooms after being outside in the summer heat. One of our favorite little surprises was the cartoons at night. It was such a simple, nostalgic touch that made the evenings feel special... even if the young staff had a battle figuring out the DVD player. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the flies. OMG... there were SO many flies that it made hanging around our campsite pretty miserable at times. It was also pretty expensive for a tent site. That said, when you factor in everything that's included for kids, I can definitely see where the value comes from. We'd absolutely come back, just with a lot more bug spray next time!

Convenient that the campground is only 10-12 minutes away from downtown South Haven and South Beach (they have lifeguards!). While the previous occupiers of our site hadn't bothered to clean up after themselves, we got it done quickly, and it was no big deal. Always, always, ALWAYS leave your camp site cleaner than when you arrived is our immutable, unbreakable rule. Bethany and Gregory, the owners, are absolutely wonderful hosts; incredibly friendly, hardworking, and welcoming. The site itself was absolutely gorgeous. We chose a primitive site, as we roll heavy with a full solar power array and bring our own water. We were tucked far enough back to give a fair bit of privacy, but were also lucky enough to be near the porta potties, which, trust me, at 4:00 AM, is a very nice perk to have. Dune Lake Campground is a very nice, quiet, family oriented campground just north of St…read moreJoseph/Benton Harbor area. The campsites are well situated and clean with level areas for a tent or RV. Many sites are provided with both electrical and water access. The camp has a dump station on site and also has staff who will dump your tanks at your site for a modest fee (so you do not have to unhook and move, then rehookup back at your site during an extended stay). The bath house is an older facility but is kept clean and in excellent condition. Showers are free and hot. The on-site lake is small and very nice for both kids and adults. Access to Lake Michigan is available just minutes away at a public access beach. Across the street is a Nature Conservancy area with several trails. We decided to take advantage of the option to book a site for the whole season (May through September) for our RV. It has been a wonderful decision. We can pack a small bag and be in the RV enjoying the sights and sounds of nature in less than an hour without towing or setting up anything. We really enjoy this area and this campground.

303 gang, rise up! That's for all those who make it up the 303 steps to get great views of the…read moreKalamazoo river. My five year old made it, so I hope you can too. It's just steps away from the chainferry, so if you're in downtown Saugatuck, a lot of people will chainferry it over and explore this park. We had a beautiful weather day that was just chilly enough to now want to park at the beach. This ended up being a ton of fun because we could essentially hike up a dune, make our way to Oval Beach and get the unique experience of nature here. The steps are not as crazy as I'm making it out to be, and there are nice little rest benches as you go, if needed. Bonus, there are so few if any mosquitoes here. We didn't really know what to do after we got to the top. We ended up just letting whatever sounded fun happen, which ended with us dunking feet in the waters at Oval Beach. *Important tip! If you do this, do NOT head back up the same dune you come down to return to town. It's a steep, hot, sandy dune that will zap all your energy. Instead, take the "John Woolam Trail" as you come out of Oval Beach for a nice, flatter, solid, wooded experience.
