Took my wife to see the for the 40th anniversary of Pretty in Pink. One of her favorite movies. She didn't see in its first run. The theater it self was clean. The concession area was a bit messy. It was pretty clean the first trip but when I went back for a refill it was a mess. We got two small popcorns and two medium drinks $28. I haven't been to the movies in 6 years. I was shocked. But I should have known better. The bathroom was a disaster looked like it wasn't cleaned for a few days. The seats were comfortable at least and enjoyed the movie. This is for Emagine Corporate. They offered to help our nonprofit event for special needs and then completely backed out. When I asked for a donation of popcorn, they said no but said we could buy popcorn in bulk at a discount (B1G1 free). I agreed, and attempted to contact them (K. Jones) at the same e-mail three more times to arrange it, but with no reply, over the course of nearly three months. It the scheme of things, yes it's just popcorn. But don't offer to help if you don't intend to follow through. Special needs events and groups see that all too often. Grateful for what you do for special needs, like the sensory friendly showings and wide doors, but in this case something fell through the cracks. I ended up buying in bulk through Amazon. read more

Went for a matinee movie so tickets were a discounted $8. The theater feels smaller than others but seating is super comfortable. Parking structure is the best option for parking. It costs $5 but if you go to customer service you can get a coupon that can make the parking free. read more

Emagine... count your days. I went to the movies today and booked the sky view theatre since the other theatre was so packed for the showtime. This was the WORST movie theatre experience of my life. I go to the movies every single Tuesday and never have I once experienced this. Look at the view from my seat. Half of the screen was cut off unless I broke my neck to hold my head up and watch the entire time. And WHY is there a giant line in the glass right in the middle of the screen. I'd rather watch a movie on my couch from 20 feet away on a 32" screen than whatever the hell these seats were. I have neck pain from the movie... I am in awe with the fact they really sold me these seats at the movie theatre... literally shocked. You can see where my phone is in the pic. This is eye level what I watched for 2.5 hours. I tried to look up skyview reviews before booking and couldn't find any. My son had a sleepover so that night decided to go online and book tickets for the new sonic 3 movie for six boys. We had a ball. We arrived thirty minutes early so the boys played in the arcade they have located inside. Ten minutes before movie started we ordered are door then entered the theatre Seated directly in the middle of the theatre so we could see the movie perfectly. We ordered nachos and popcorn warmed pretzels and drinks. Boys ranging from ages 5 - 11. Staff delivered the warmed pretzels straight to are seats in theatre before the movie started. F.Y.I They also have a full service bar located inside Picture, food, and service was a very nice experience, the boys loved every minute of it. Will be returning. read more

Attended a private event and we occupied one of the many theater rooms that is made available for the general public watching the latest movie or contact the management and book a room exclusively. Cocktails, self service automated pop dispensers, slushy machine and of course my favorite popcorn with hot butter is ready to be served. The last time I was here was before Covid. So far I've noticed that the chairs were changed into a recliner with the buttons to raise the chair up and down, and even function to heat the seats. Early on there was a problem when the movie froze... it took them a short while to have the show running. The audio came back to normal speed. Before leaving the theater...ask someone to validate your parking ticket. read more

Yes, the large screen is great. But, we are wondering if they are trying to make people DEAF. The sound was uncomfortably loud, especially during previews. The bathroom was FILTHY: paper towels on the floor and numerous gross, unflushed toilets. We MAY go again, hoping this is an exception on a busy Sunday. As a cinephile, I love going to the movies. This theatre had a movie I had not yet seen and was not available at other theatres, so I dragged myself down to RO to watch it with a couple friends. The only positive interaction I had was with the concession staff, who were polite and patient as we figured out our order. I did enjoy the option to have food delivered directly to your seat, and the recliners and wide aisles made for a pleasant, comfortable movie experience. However, once the movie began, my experience began to worsen. Individuals were waiting in the exit aisle near the door without seats for this movie. An argument occurred at the front of the theater over seat numbers. While our food was being delivered, an employee witnessed the man seated right in front of us vaping and ignored it, and he proceeded to do this several more times throughout the movie. The employees delivering food were also slightly distracting as they had to walk in front of individuals upon delivery, but I understand food delivery is probably a major draw at this location. There was no parking, so we had to pay in the structure. Take my criticism with a grain of salt, as I'm not often at this location. I still prefer MJR over Emagine, though. read more

Horrible staff, I did not have a single polite or professional interaction. Went to the 9:30 pm showing of a movie, every single staff member I interacted with was extremely rude. The tickets were sent to the wrong email address so I had to ask which theater the movie was playing in and the staff member I spoke to was incredibly condescending and said to ask the concession stand who was clearly busy. There was another person who needed help finding the same theater I was in and they got the same reception. We found help from another unfriendly worker. The girl working the concession stand was snippy and unfriendly on initial checkout and when I asked if for a refill. There are nicer ways to say you're all out of popcorn, thanks. Then when I tried one slushy machine, realized it was turned off, and stepped back to wait for the other one to be available the same staff member who I had initially asked for directions came up to me to say "If you see the lights are off that means the machine is off and you can't use it" after I already had stepped away. read more

My friend and I came to this theater on Monday night, 1/30/23. There was no parking in front of the theater, none around the block, and the parking structure in the parking lot with the theater was not allowing cars to park. I could not see the movie or meet my friend, which completely ruined my birthday night out with my buddy, not to mention the money spent with nothing to show for it (ticket price and gas to travel to Emagine and back home without seeing a movie, which is 52.5 miles round trip). My buddy ended up seeing the movie alone. I drove home after trying to park for OVER 20+ minutes, frustrated, angry and extremely disappointed. The only reason I didn't review this as a 1-Star, is because past experiences here were better with fairly friendly staff members. read more

Miserable place. Food took absolutely forever. Staff was incredibly rude. And if you aren't there early for any movie they shut you out from buying tickets. They advertise bowling, arcade, and dining along with the theatre as options. They hardly delivered in any. They don't have a dining grille space. They have crummy pre made food. Overall, for how this place was talked up, I was disappointed... Not only do you have to pay to park - royal oak. Once we got in there the staff couldn't be bothered with questions. I got a medium popcorn for a 830 movie - 3.5 hours long. The screen said 7.50 a bucket and the gentlemen charged me 7.75 saying tax... 6% on 7.50 isn't 25 cents... still no signs of caring from the staff. I don't like to leave during the movie so I wanted until the end to refill. Once out the staff was cleaning up and I asked for a refill. I was quickly denied. Wait - what? Why wouldn't the staff tell me - you bought tickets for this movie refills won't be available after. Especially after I specifically asked for a size with refills.... This isn't the treatment at other theaters in the area. I think I'll leave my business in their hands. read more

I went to see avatar in 3d last night and had a good experience at Emagine. You can buy tickets online (with a processing fee) or purchase them at the movie theater kiosk (self service) without a fee. The theater is clean and they validate parking in the garage (you need to ask an employee behind the counter for a ticket after the movie). Popcorn/snacks and drinks are expensive, pretty standard for a movie theater. They also have bowling and a bar but I haven't done that in a long time so can't speak to that experience. read more

Emagine Sportsbook is a great place to watch a game. Huge high quality screen and picture, fantastic Dolby surround sound, and the best and most comfortable seats. Staff was friendly and theater was clean. Pizza was tasty. Minus one star for no wi-fi. Staff said it hadn't been working for a couple months and management knew about it but failed to take action to get it back functioning. For a venue to advertise as a Sportsbook with no onsite betting to have no wi-fi is a deal breaker unfortunately. Hope they get it repaired and we will be back. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. Let me start off by saying this is not an issue with the building itself more with the staff and the people in it from the concession staff to the security guard to everyone that actually works inside the building. They are rude. They are unethical. My daughter went to the movies with three of her friends mind you my daughter is only 17 years and her friends are the same age and younger. They pay for their movies they pay for their snacks and as soon as the movie was over, they put them out of the theater they would not let them wait within the doors for their rides. We are in Michigan. It is December and it is snowing. Why would you put five teenage girls outside of a theater in the mid December that we're not causing any problems for anybody? I do understand weeding out but these are girls and it is past 7:30 at night and anybody from Michigan knows it gets dark at five in the winter. Why would you put them outside after they explain to you that their rides were already on the way. NO ONE at this facility has half a brain to make a judgment call. And all the security be fired. As well as the rest of the staff, you all need a staff meeting and understand the difference between ethics and what's right and what's not. INCASE YOU DIDNT KNOW ITS NOT OK TO PUT 5 TEENAGE GIRLS OUT IN THE FREEZING COLD!!! FROM ANAYWHERE. My advice to anyone going to the theater if you have children go with them. Picked up my cousin and brother and drove 40mins (696 closures) to watch the 1st game of the Stanley Cup Finals. When we arrived,we were told sports theater was showing movies no sports that evening. No explanation. Wasted trip. Why advertise Caesars Sportsbook lounge online and then randomly not even have it. What in the fresh hell is going on in this place? Went to a Dine and Watch showing of Joker. Waited 15 minutes before asking a staff person if wait staff was coming or we needed to get our own concessions. The two security guards were confused, apparently Dine and Watch had been canceled for this showing. Wait no just kidding the staff person who was covering the theater just arrived late. We're able to order and the waiter said he'd check on us throughout our the film for refills and anything additional we wanted. Never saw him again after our initial order was placed. Our food was dropped off by a completely different person and that was the in theater service. Annoying but fine. However. There were teenagers running through the theater the entire movie. On the phone. Running through the aisles. Taking a video call. For the ENTIRE MOVIE. These kids didn't seem old enough to even be in the theater after the stated curfew for under 18 - which is part of why we decided on the showing we went to, we're old and didn't want to deal with our kids, your kids, the kids, any kids during the movie. Oh but it gets worse. There are "cuddle couches" at the front of the theater. Some of the teens that snuck in were 100% having sex in the front of the theater on those couches during the movie. The movie ends and immediately outside the theater are THREE security guards and staff standing around, chillin. WTF. Place is poorly managed, poorly run, which is too bad because the actual seats were super comfortable and the visuals/sound were good. read more

This was my first time here! I've always heard about this location but frequent another due to location. There was an event held in the bowling area and my goodness was it fun! The customer service at the bowling alley bar was amazing and beyond friendly and the overall flow the the alley was nice. My Hangup would most definitely be parking. At night, it can be a bit overwhelming not being familiar w/ the area. I can only imagine how it could be on a busy night. Emagine Theaters is the best movie theater chain in Michigan and the Midwest! It, as any who has gone to see a movie at Emagine knows, was founded in Michigan (Clarkston!) by CEO & chairman Paul Glantz! (He welcomes you to Emagine before every movie plays!) It has now expanded its locations throughout all of Michigan and the Midwest, and I couldn't be more proud of this little company that could! Emagine is focused on the customer's experience firstly and is truly everything you're looking for in a movie theater: reserved seating, chairs that RECLINE, ARE ROOMY, AND HEAT UP (if you want!), concessions delivered straight to your seat, a bar to purchase alcohol from, IMAX screens (they're called EMAX here!), $5 movie Tuesdays (with free popcorn if you enroll in their FREE loyalty program), and that's just to name a few! If you live anywhere within the metro Detroit area, there is probably an Emagine located not too far away from you. If that's the case then trust me, it's worth the drive. I average watching 70 movies a year in theaters, and I almost exclusively only watch them at Emagine because they are just that great. You will never have a better movie-going experience than when you're at Emagine Entertainment! Emagine Royal Oak, specifically, is absolutely wonderful. I love in general that each Emagine has such unique things to offer, and Emagine Royal Oak is no exception. They are a movie theater, bowling alley, and grille all bundled into one and I've done all three here! Movies wise - this location offers about 12 theaters. They have EMAX as an option, along with a new feature called Skybox. Sadly, I would not recommend doing Skybox. While it was cool to experience, it ultimately isn't worth the $20, especially if you're short. The premise of Skybox is essentially seeing the movie from a "balcony/mezzanine" style of seating overhanging the auditorium. So rather than sitting on the ground level looking up at the screen, you head upstairs, where the signage is a bit unclear, but you make your way past the private 2-lane balcony, past a mini bar/concessions stand and private bathroom, to a small 2-row, 14-seat Skybox. This "Skybox" is located at the back of the EMAX auditorium, so while you're seeing the movie in EMAX, you're located so far back that it feels like a standard-sized screen. Additionally, there's a whole glass screen dividing you from the auditorium, so the sound is patched in through separate speakers that doesn't give you as much of that immaculate surround sound feel you're normally used to at an Emagine showing. Also, if you're short like me and are sitting in the front row, you have a ledge that's pretty level with the first row and definitely a bit at eye-level, so you basically can't recline, otherwise the bottom of the movie screen will be cut off. I had to sit up with perfect posture the entire time I was watching the movie, and that definitely got tiring after a while! Lastly, for Loyalty members, you can't even use your Loyalty awards to get a discount or free ticket option for Skybox, which is just an additional not-ideal situation. Skybox aside though, the Emagine Royal Oak movie theaters are truly A+! Bowling-wise - this isn't that full-fledge bowling alley you're used to. It definitely is the size of a quarter to a third of a standard-size bowling alley. So if you're coming here to bowl before or after your movie, just pay attention to what time of day it is as I'm sure these lanes fill up fast. Other than that, their bowling alley is wonderful and I love the occasional bowling opportunity here. It is adjacent to the restaurant area, so speaking of which... Restaurant-wise - the food is good, nothing special! Ultimately, this is a movie theater first, but the perks of having a restaurant are that you can literally do a movie, some food other than just your basic concessions, and a fun, slightly physical activity like bowling, all in one place! It also means that Emagine Royal Oak offers cool packages like dinner and/or breakfast & a movie, where you eat at the restaurant prior to enjoying a movie and it's all bundled together. I've taken advantage of these experiences in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed myself at them! I've also come to the restaurant at Emagine for trivia events too, which is also always a fun and hilarious time! Worse experience ever!!!! Arrived half hour before the show was to start. Went into theater #10 as directed and it was completely dark. Went back to the lobby and told the "security/ticket looker person" that it was dark in there and I'd wait out here until closer to the start time. Ten minutes before start time, still empty dark theater. Went back to the "security boy" and he kind of laughed and asked my seat # and said he would show me to my seat. Another woman walked up and said she also thought they needed to turn lights on in that room. He walked us into #10 and he said "wow, where are the lights?!" DUHHHH.... did he think I was lying to him. He radios for someone to turn on the lights and the whole room is a mess!! Hasn't been cleaned. He leaves the other customer and I standing at our seats that need cleaned to "find someone to come this place up" No one comes. I go to the counter in the lobby and ask for a manager. The young manager boy said that he would get it cleaned. They quickly clean up and the show starts. A half hour after the show starts, the lights are still on. Back to the lobby I go to ask them to turn off the lights. read more

I absolutely love this theatre! For the price, it is an absolute steal!!! I love the seats, and recliners in addition to the popcorn and freestyle coke machine! It can get pretty busy, but it's comfortable and clean! I think we will be back many times here! read more

I just enjoy coming to the theater every time and eating the wonderful but not healthy foods. I can smell the freshly made popcorn and entrees before I enter the building and that smell alone makes me a loyal customer. I will always come back to enjoy movies here! Not typically an Emagine Royal Oak attendee since Rochester is much closer but decided to check this theatre out last night with some buddies. When we got there they had recently lost power- the movie was delayed and the popcorn machine not up and running. The team was quick to step up and still make everyone's experience enjoyable. I felt like the team working truly cared about my time there and they showed it by not only getting the machines up and running (and handing out some of the best fresh popcorn I have ever had) but also handed out free movie vouchers for the inconvenience. The delay was only 20 minutes and truly didn't put a damper on my mood, my friends or anyone else I could see. 11/10 experience - I just wanted to shout out the crew and say thank you! I'm a huge fan of Emagine. They've got nice theaters and usually excellent seats. This location is no different in that regard. It's also got a restaurant and bowling alley, though I just went here for the movie. The reason for my low review was the cleanliness of the bathroom. It was rather dirty. Some toilet seats were cracked and others covered in... something. If I had not absolutely needed to go, I would have held it. read more
