This theatre is amazing. It's about a 45 minute drive for me each way, but I'm going to start making the drive out here. Very nicely renovated, up to date seating, decor, and almost spotless inside. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Barbara Duran was extremely accommodating with booking, fast responses and giving me plenty of options for what I was looking for. They have updated this theatre with a game room , bar and updated recliner seats. That's update has been since a few years ago. I see the material on the recliner seats are starting to crack and rub off. You can usually get a good seat by purchasing your ticket online. Best prices is during matinee time. Popcorn is good and they have self serve drink stations with frozen drinks , free refills. The theater was clean and staff was friendly. It's quite, in the theater today, I seen the Michael Jackson Movie and it was entertaining. read more

Nice space to watch a movie. There is even a bar . Get your snacks, and popcorn. They have changed a bunch, the movies are not cold like they used to be, comfy seats that rock and recline. The only problem is when someone you don't know it's right next to you, and talks during the movie, or their phone rings. read more

This was my first time at this theater, and I visited today for the 5:45 p.m. showing of Den of Thieves 2. I see it's now owned by Emagine, and it's technically closer to my new house than Emagine Novi (by a few minutes), so I wanted to try it out. My first few moments in the theater were unfortunately unpleasant but it wasn't their fault - I always step into the bathroom before a show and there was a child screaming (like super, super loudly). The lobby, however, is super nice. I like that there are plenty of parking spaces outside and you don't have to walk far to get to the theater, that's one of my main complaints of Emagine Novi. They have nice recliners in the theater and it even was heated, which was a nice surprise! I think only Emagine Royal Oak has that, at least that's the only theater I've been to that has heated seats in this area. The movie was very good and the chair was comfortable. Unfortunately there were two ladies in front of me who decided to talk for most of the movie, but that is not the fault of the theater. I would come back here another time to see a movie, it seems to be a very nice theater. I think I still do like Emagine Novi better, but it's probably because I'm used to that location since I've been going there for more than 10 years at this point. read more

The ambiance at The Rivera Cinema is out of this world! They are located in the West River plaza with Target as the anchor store. This movie theater is so cozy and comfortable without the hustle and bustle of some of the larger theaters in the Metropolitan area where you have to pay for parking. The parking here is free and plentiful. Their popcorn is always on point! I pay extra to get real butter on my popcorn. The beverages are self serve which includes the frozen Icee machines. The recliner seating is comfortable. I recommend bringing a throw or Snuggie to truly enJOY your viewing experience. This is a great escape for a couple of hours. This was my first visit to a movie theater since the pandemic and things have really changed. I know I can purchase my ticket online but since I was attending a matinee, I figured I'd purchase it at the theater. Big Mistake! For what ever reason their ticket purchase and concession line is combined in one. Not a fan of this process. If you come in 5 or 10 minutes before the start of the movie, you can be caught up in the line much longer. Other than that, the theater and restroom were clean and I'll probably purchase my tickets online in the future. read more

Not sure why i keep forgetting about this location. I would rate a good solid 4 of 5 - staff was super nice and everything was clean. I attention a late showing at 10:30pm, so it was crowded and i'm happy to say they have an age limit after 8pm or 9pm (i believe). One thing i would do skip is the popcorn - not sure if it was my taste buds or what but it definitely wasn't "giving". Purchased a medium and barely ate; if i had to pick i would say just go with the nachos if you wanted to snack on something. If you purchase tickets online - there's a $1.30 charge but it isn't bad amount to get your pick ahead of time. read more

I went to the movies with my wife and we tried to purchase tickets on the kiosk, however the kiosk didn't print our tickets, so we had to go to the concessions counter. The young man at the concessions counter stated that he didn't see the tickets that we purchased, so we purchased them again. I look at my bank statement and see multiple charges for the same purchase. Now, I'm back and forth with the movie theater and my bank's fraud department! It would have been so much easier to just give me a credit to my account, now you have just lost a customer over 2 tickets! read more

Emagine has bought Riviera Cinema so there have been some upgrades. However, the customer service is lacking. On my than one occasion I had a question, a basic one that they should know and they were clueless. They also do assigned seating and have a full service bar. You can't use ticket rewards when attempting to book online, which is something that all the other locations have the ability to do. They don't sell normal, regular fries. Only bacon, cheese fries which is a little weird. The location has merit, but needs some additional customer service training and new menu options. read more

This theater is so gorgeously designed. I loved the whole black/white/red theme. There's even a cute little pool table. I hear they play live music at times too! So I downloaded this little Groupon app about a week ago, and since then I've been binge Groupon-ing (I think Groupon can become a verb). They offer a Groupon for two tickets, two drinks, one large popcorn & one pizza for around $31. I got lucky one day and grabbed it for 15! So as far as pricing goes; using the Groupon it's a real steal. I can't speak on behalf of the regular prices, but it seemed like average movie theater costs. Maybe a little bit more pricey. Personal pizza costs 10.50 and it's a little bit smaller than at Emagine. The popcorn needs it's own paragraph!!!!!! For once, after visiting numerous theaters, we finally tasted some fresh good popcorn!!!!! The seats are also recliners and really comfy. The theater rooms aren't too big and fit a limited number of people, so it's best to possibly reserve your seat online. The ticket line went by really slow as they only had one person working a huge line. But the concession line went pretty quick. It was also very clean, customer service wasn't the best. I feel like employees weren't exactly well trained. Friendly, but not the greatest service. The movie selections are very very small compared to other theaters, but I think because they're limited on rooms. Either way, I'd definitely come back as I enjoyed the popcorn and seating. Hubby and I were in the area & were able to catch a matinee screening of SW VIII here. Seats were comfortable enough, but felt smallish and cramped as did the screening room. Perhaps we're just spoiled by Emagine's generously-sized power recliners and spacious rooms... While the entrance featured fancy chandeliers and a festive holiday tree (usually brownie points in my book), the theater itself smelled a tad musky. We didn't buy snacks, so can't speak to the snack bar. Crowd & staff were a bit rowdier than expected/wanted. Overall, acceptable movie-going experience but would probably not come back given other options. read more

Love this small town cinema. It has been part of The Farmington Community for a long time. It is staple around these parts. My grandson wants to get his first job there. This place has truly gone downhill. I am hoping that it improves since Emagine took it over; however the cleanliness and conduct of movie-goers is unacceptable. They do not control the loud crowd during the movies. I had a woman take her shoes off in front of me, and the smell coming from her feet was absolutely atrocious. In addition to that, she was incredibly loud throughout the movie. I left and made a discrete comment to one of the employees, and they completely disregarded me. While it is beautiful and comfortable, its upscale ambiance is completely ruined by the lack of crowd control and poor customer service. I will try it again in a few months (given the new ownership), but until then, I will visit other theaters in the area. This is a poor reflection on Emagine, as the rest of their theaters are amazing. Hopefully they can turn this around. read more

I have read reviews about this theatre, but I know it had been renovated. I was taking the family to see Avengers. Our normal theater, Emagine Novi, didn't have the number is seats we needed (7). So, I looked up other theaters in the Emagine line. Riviera had the number of seats we needed. We went and I have to say I was very disappointed. First and foremost, I was dirty and nasty. Where you use the condiments, the floor was sticky from old spills. And there was popcorn on the floor. The tables were nasty. I figured maybe they're going to send someone out to clean it up. But when we were leaving, nothing had been done. The only theater that I have been to that was similar was the AMC Southfield. This theater being apart of the Emagine line of theaters, I did not expect this at all. They need to hire someone just to clean, only. While at the concession stand, I wanted a bottle of water. They didn't have any in the cooler, so the person gave me a small cup to get some from the pop dispenser. I looked at the screen and I see he's charging me four dollars for a bottle of Disani water. I then asked why, he said that because that's how much it cost. So I asked him to just charge me for the cup only (I figure it's tsp water, why charge $4 for tap). He then said that if he charged for the cup, it would be more. Then another attendant brought out a case of water. I took one and said I'll take one of these. He then said that they're not cold. I said that's okay. So then he proceeded to take the cup back. I said no, I'm going to use for ice since the water isn't cold. He then said okay. In my mind, I'm like what the crap! I determined within myself that I will never go to this theater again. Needless to say, I found all the reviews to be true. And now you can add this one. But at least the kids enjoyed the movie. read more

If I go to the theater which is infrequent, this is my fav spot. It has a small but welcoming entrance and the staff is prompt with service. Popcorn rules here, the staff had no problem getting enough butter on our popcorn (plus a trip to the popcorn flavor station). Added bonus there was a live performance, took some time to enjoy this with a movie themed drink from the bar. If you order the stone oven pizza, they will bring it to your seat when it's done. I've been twice and both times I waited to buy my ticket upon arrival. The first time we came here it was under new owners and fully renovated. The seats are large and comfortable and you could even have a fresh pizza brought to you. Our first experience was good. However, the guy they had doing the tickets didn't seem to know what he was doing, this theater also has assigned seating (which seems like a good idea but patrons take forever to understand the concept and pick out their seats). The second time we got a Groupon for 2 tickets and a pizza. We showed our Groupon and the employees were all confused, eventually got our tickets and ordered our pizza. Watch over half the movie, still no pizza, I had to leave my movie and go ask where the pizza was. The staff had no idea what happened to our order and said to come back after the movie for pizza voucher for the next time we came. The third time we came with our voucher for our pizza and they didn't have CHEESE for their pizzas. There were also no longer using the area in the front which is designated for ticket sales and instead had the concessions doing both concessions and ticket purchases. The voucher was expired the 4th time we tried. We also brought guests and ended up missing the beginning of the movie because it took so long to get our tickets because they are still having staff work both concessions and tickets, so every time some one wanted food, the ticket taker would have to stop and go prepare the order. There is no place for just tickets. Today was the 5th time we have tried. Got there early and was still late to the movie because on a holiday weekend there were only 3 staff members doing both tickets and concessions. WHICH BY THE WAY IS GROSS! YOU HANDLE MONEY THEN GO PREPARE FOOD! I hope someone with the health department sees this. This place has so much potential but is being managed into the ground. I also have to mention of annoying it is to have staff walking into the movie trying to bring a patron a pizza but having no idea where the patron is. Every time the door opened you could hear the squeak of the door. Come on management, think about these things. The concept is wonderful, the seats are comfortable, and in theory having real food as an option is wonderful if you do it right. Side note to patrons.... Stop being rude by talking loudly and using your phones! If you ordered a pizza, be attentive so the staff can find you. Wow, what an improvement over the previous (decent) movie theater located here. Treats: very tasty popcorn, served in tubs not bags. Thumbs up! Medium popcorn and soda combo was $12, with an upgrade to a large tub for an extra $0.50. Great deal, as Ken was going to order an additional small popcorn for $6. They gave us a bag for sharing. Free refills. They have a couple shaker seasonings. Soda machines have the you pick flavor add-ins (I'm a sucker for lime Coke). They have nachos, hot dogs, candy, etc. There is also a pizza area. And bar. Yep, booze. Seats: all leather recliners. I've read they have rockers too, but I didn't see any in my theater. Comfy seating. Tons of space between rows, even when fully reclined. Theater: clean. Good temperature. I could hear a couple of soft booms from the action movie in the theater next door before our movie but no outside sound once the movie started. Got nice and dark. Bathrooms: clean. Plenty of stalls and sinks. Prices: $6 each for our 11:15am show, so I'd say comparable to Phoenix (which also has leather recliners). Oh...something cool. You can buy your specific seats on their website in advance then show your phone to the folks when you get there. Cool if you are the kind of person who likes to control that aspect (me). Parking: sufficient, even when they're busy. The only con I saw was that the front ticket booth was closed when we were there. We had to buy our tickets at the snack counter, same as Phoenix, except they only had two people working. The line moved slow, and I can see people missing the start of their show. read more

Nice theatre with a lounge like renovation and a full bar. Pizza is really good and of course you'd expect it to be a Lil over priced but at 12 bucks for 6 slices it's not bad. The drinks aren't stingy and they will bring your food to your seat so you don't have to wait on hot food and miss your movie. The only negative is the middle arm rest on the lounge seats does not lift so it can't be converted into a couch for cuddling lol but besides that the theatre is great. read more

This theater does not deserve even one star. This is the worst theater I have ever been to. My boyfriend and I are theater lovers and are constantly going to see movies. We decided to try this theater out and we both agree that we will never be going here again. The viewers were rude and disruptive. During the entire movie, most of the viewers were talking and texting. A girl a few seats away was talking to her friend the entire time and even called someone on the phone during the movie. A man in front of us was talking the entire time as well. Ringtones and text tones were going off every few minutes. We couldn't enjoy the movie and neither could the couple next to us because people were so rude. For the entire movie, all I could focus on was the rude viewers and the sighs of the couple next to me. There was no way to drain out the obnoxious viewers- and really, it's the staffs job to handle this kind of thing. The theater needs to have a courtesy check and to remove rude people. I didn't pay to be in this theater to be so disappointed by the lack of respect and the lack of the staff making sure that respectful viewers have a good experience. After this review, hopefully people can avoid the disrespect that comes with viewing a movie at this location. read more

One star for customer service. Me and my friend went up to an unfriendly employee to buy movie tickets. We didn't know that the screen where you pick your seat was not a touch screen, and we kept poking it. The employee kept staring blankly at us and didn't say anything to help us! There was a sign that it's "not touchscreen" but we didn't notice it. No greetings, no smile the entire time, nor did she assist us where to go. Felt unwelcome.
