I have not been to the movie theater in years as I find non of the movie options appealing and am sick of the movie 'stars' mouthing off about their political views. BUT my friend, who was visiting from Houston, loves going to the movies so off to the movies for she and I. After shopping at the nearby Burlington and TJMaxx we saw, I Can Only Imagine 2...I loved it! I loved the entire experience! This theater has plenty of parking. The inside is very clean and it was really easy to check in and get a ticket. There were no people to assist with getting a ticket but my friend had no problem using the computers that are up front and inside the building. I much prefer human interaction but then again I'm 65 years old and remember a simpler time. The snacks were very good and I loved that we could refill our drinks and popcorn, we had no need to do so but it was a nice option. Our lone human employee behind the counter was professional and pleasant. The snack area was clean and all the drink machines functioned properly. The bathrooms were clean with plenty of room inside. The inside of the actual movie theater was very clean and the chairs were in excellent condition. The screen was large and the sound was just right. I thought it was very thoughtful that there was an option to purchase a little blanket to keep you warm. I did not purchase one but there was a display right by the concession area. MJR Chesterfield Cinema - A shabby chair at Mjr Chesterfield - Cinema Near Me - Chesterfield, Michigan

This location is conveniently close to my domicile, and it's the only reason I went here in the first place. I much prefer AMC and/or Emgine, but I'm slowly growing to like MJR (specifically this location). MJR theaters only serve the inferior beverage known as Pepsi (BOOOOO), so getting an Icee is a no no for me at MJR, which could mean going to another theater if I'm going to see the type of movie where popcorn and an Icee are a "must." Continuing, the pretzel bites taste fried (not good) and the popcorn, without adding butter, tastes too buttery/salty. So, I'll pretty much only come here if I am NOT in need of movie snacks for a film I want to see, which tends to be dramas for some reason. Lastly, the staff is typically nice, particularly the 30-something year old female manager I interacted with on a recent visit, who was funny & engaging. The younger staff could learn from her. So while I no longer hate going to MJR, it's unfortunately not my first choice. Now, if they change to Coca-Cola AND stop the idiot sheep from doing that stupid clap during the MJR promo before films, THEN I'll be coming much more frequently. read more

This theatre has been totally remodeled and is very nice inside. VIP Seating so you can 2 seats with some privacy. You can get a refill on soda pop or an ICEE and put as much butter on your popcorn as you want and even get a refill of that as well. They have a full bar if you so desire to have an alcoholic beverage during the show. Staff is courteous and fast at the concession counter. Thumbs up from me!!! read more

I heard that movies were reopening a few days ago, and I couldn't wait to go. I didn't even care about what movie I was watching, as long as I got to do it in a movie theater. I don't know why this is one of the things I missed the most during the pandemic. MJR is handling things as safely as they can possibly can. There are gaps between the seats, and you buy tickets in groups of two. But, families can slide over if they want, because they don't do anything to block the intervening seats. I saw a guy in the restrooms with a giant, insecticide style disinfectant tank, making sure everything was safe. The concessions stands are largely the same, but expect the same adjustments you see at restaurants. There are no giant mustard and ketchup dispensers, but instead they have ketchup packets and mustard packets. They add salt and butter to the popcorn, rather than you getting to adjust it yourself. And, the soft drink mixer is closed, but they do have basic beverages. Everything else is as you remembered it in terms of availability. The thing I am happiest with is that the bar is still available, and the guy behind the bar who I saw most of the time was there, and he remembered me and the drinks that my wife and I liked to get. That was pretty awesome. As with the concessions stand, the prices haven't changed. And, the movie going experience, most crucially, has also not changed. I had a chance to forget about the world for a couple hours as I sat in my recliner seat and enjoyed the show. It really didn't matter what I was watching, but rather that I was able to do it in a movie theater. I'm very happy they're back in business. read more

Been going to this location for years...don't know what's happening. First, the movies never start on time. I'm tired of waiting 10-20 minutes after the starting time of the movie by watching commercials. Second, the popcorn is too salty for the last few months. A new change of recipe? If sucks (no it's not the butter.) Third, MJR chesterfield took away the popcorn flavoring after the pandemic. I've been to amc, Emagine and other competitors and they have them back out. Plain greed of MJR not to do the same. I only go to this location for convenience but that is slowly draining and I don't see myself coming here much longer read more

I usually go to this location or Partridge. I used to go to this one far more because Partridge Theatre is always full, busy, and filled with young teens. Sometimes those teens like to be rude during movies or before the movie. Like throwing popcorn or laughing loudly. Being kids I suppose. This location used to be a more quiet spot. Seems it is hard to find that though on a Saturday. I ordered my tickets online and used my QR code to get in without a wait in line. I love not having to wait in long lines. I also love the fact that you can look at seats available and choose some. The seats are comfortable red recliners. I feel like I am sitting on a cloud. There is so much arm room as well. I have not been to this location in a bit, so we decided to go here when the mall was full seating. We got some popcorn, and I must say that I was dissapointed. The popcorn was way too salty! A few bites and my lips were starting to hurt. My sisters and boyfriend agreed with me. It did not taste good at all. I can not have pop and I am not a fan of their other drink selections, so I had to sit there with this awful taste in my mouth. It makes me think they oversalted it on purpose to make you thirsty. I didn't want to get up during the movie to go drink from a water fountain, or try to find something to buy in line. It didn't completely ruin my experience because the movie was great. I've never been treated so horribly at any business establishment EVER!!! I get that the people working there clearly hate their lives but that's no reason to yell at customers for trying to bring a water bottle into an almost three hour movie. I've never been to this theatre because i'm from out of state and was unaware of there ridiculous water policy however i'm a reasonable person and would've been more than happy to oblige if i was informed in a kind manner. Instead i walked up to the ticket counter and before i could even say hello, the lady starts barking at me about how i can't bring my water in (in the middle of the hottest summer on record). She also made it a point to say call it a Stanley multiple times (clearly jealous of the fact that i can afford a nice water bottle). She would not so much as let me respond to her, interrupting me when i tried to speak to her, sending me to her manager so she didn't have to deal with me. The kind ladies behind me also left without buying anything after speaking to her. I waited patiently for the manager to end her phone call. I explained the situation (moments after being berated by her employee). She also feels the need to interrupt me. Apparently this policy isn't place because they decided to put their pop machines on the customer side of the counter, and this is how they prevent stealing. I hate sugary drinks and simply want to stay hydrated and am on medication that quickly dehydrates me so i kinda need my water, also i'm not a criminal and had planed on buying my brother a pop and popcorn anyway. She's says she will make a one time acceptation, But she was unable to stop talking and went on to tell me how she didn't appreciate my attitude after her and her employee had been treating me like shit, unprovoked. Yea i tend to get an attitude when strangers who i'm trying to give my money to start berate me and interrupt me over water. This was the most vile experience I've ever had at a theatre. read more

Me and my girlfriend saw the bike-riders in theater 2 at 7:45 pm on June 24th, I bought a bottle of water and used the cup holder at my seat, after the movie I noticed my white shirt was covered in pop and sure enough the cup holder was full of someone else's old soda. I went to the concessions where i had to ask for a manager 3 times, the manager, Mac, finally comes over after multiple associates calling for him and tells me I need to calm down and that his theaters are clean. Obviously not. When you pay $30 to see a movie you expect not to get covered in old soda and have the manager act like it's not a big deal and tell you to calm down. Again the managers name was Mac at the Chesterfield cinema and I am very dissatisfied with my experience at MJR. read more

This particular theatre has been serving Chesterfield for over 20 years. It's been thru it's share of remodel and expansions. Theatre is always exceptionally clean and staff is really help when it comes to selecting a movie to watch. Why I really love is the free refills on pop AND popcorn, any size. This is the typical hangout every weekend for most middle and high schoolers but this particular location actually has security to keep everyone under control. Props to them! The concession prices have actually gone down over the years...shocking I know! Large Pop and Popcorn deal for $9.50. It was nearing $11 last year. During the summer MJR has free popcorn every Tuesday with the purchase of every movie ticket. Any size. Free refills. Bonus! Sign up for the movie rewards program! Free stuff every 50 points. 10 points each ticket. Maximum of 20 points per day so basically every 3 visits if you bring a guest. Reach 500 points and get two free tickets, two free medium pops, two free popcorns. What's not to love? Cheaper tickets are before noon on the weekend ($5) but between noon-6pm all tickets are just $6..aka not an arm and a leg. They offer student, military and senior discounts. A few of the theatres could use a makeover. New paint on walls, new seats and better speakers but overall this is an awesome movie theatre for the age of it. Very well kept! read more

Super disappointed with the service and the cleanliness of the theatre. I don't live in the area anymore so I haven't been here in two years. I was there Sunday March 24 2023 at 4 p.m. The bathrooms were very dirty. Changing a few toilet seats is very necessary as well. The pop machines were so sticky and gross, as well as the area by the butter but I can understand that a little more. We stood at that counter for popcorn for at least 5 mins, while an employee just stared at me from a doorway. Made no attempt to wait on us and then had a line of fifteen people behind me and nobody working. There was a kid putting inventory away but he never looked up to check on his surroundings. The manager did end up coming out to wait on people but made zero effort to say anything to anyone along the lines of an apology for possibly making us late to the movie. The movie doesn't wait to start until everyone is ready,,,, so making sure your customers get what they are paying for in a timely manner is important. We showed up on time and the employees should try and do their jobs they are getting paid to do. I won't be back any time soon, but this place used to be so much nicer. I hope someone cares enough to correct this. Do better. Care. Try. read more

We paid for 4 seats and only 2 reclined. We had to be in the front so it was not comfortable not reclining. The slushy machines were not working (even though they looked full and slushy). It was filthy by the drink station and it was only 11:30am. I can't imagine how bad it would be later. It's always filthy there. I'm going to stop going there. read more

So my daughter and I went to the movies tonight. And this girl came in late to the movie and started talking to her friends. I shhhd her. She says to me you got to be fing kidding me. I said no the movie has started you have to be quit. Sure tells me to F off I tell her I'm going to have her kicked out. She says fuck you. So I go tell management. They say they will give me a free ticket. I'm like she verbally assaulted me in front of my daughter. They say they can't do anything. I'm like kick them out. Then they start throwing popcorn at the people sitting in front of us. After all of us go to management then they say I guess we should have thrown them out. I'm like duh!!!! Seriously will movie theaters ever learn??? This is why people wait for movies to come out on dvd. Why can't people learn to be quiet and turn off their phones on movies. The theater chairs are worn out and disgusting..the fake leather is pealed off all the seats. They didn't work or recline. The place looks old and could possibly be the most dilapidated theater I have ever been too. Definitely not going back. read more

Wow it feels good to be back. As soon as you walk in you get smacked with the nostalgic smell and view of a classic movie theater. Seemed like not many people were there which brought me some sadness because I thought that this might not be here much longer. Hopefully the community can start watching movies at the theaters again soon to help them out. Experience overall was very good. Popcorn was on point and so were the slushees. The theater is aging and it shows. Could use an exterior and interior paint job and the seats are showing some heavy wear as well. The staff is friendly and it never seems to busy. Prices are on point with any other theater in the area. All in all still a good theater to hit just needs a bit of updating. read more

This theater is already good, but is just going to get a whole lot better with the remodel. This theater is going to give Emagine a serious run for their money. It is not going to have the charm that Emagine has, but still is going to be great. I have gone to see many movies here in the past, and this theater is very nice, not once I have had a bad experience here, all good. I love this theater since they replaced the seats and sound system. Still the best matinee prices in the area. There are only two things keeping me from giving them 5 stars: 1) the new phone app sucks. It is not user friendly in the least. 2) they moved the soda machines to the hallway area, using those machines that let you pick 100+ flavor options, but they only have 7 or 8 options to choose. How about more diet soda choices? You have Dr Pepper, why not Diet Dr Pepper? read more

I continue to visit MJR Theaters at Chesterfield Crossing and count it as my all-time favorite. Apparently, I am in good company ... Adam Graham of The Detroit News wrote an article on 22NOV2014 about the catchy MJR song that immediately precedes each film showing. He talked specifically about the 'clap-clap-clap' that warms the hearts of so many who hear it. Just so you know, it's a spontaneous community thing, like joining in with enthusiastic singing of the National Anthem. Hey, perhaps they haven't been clapping at the beginning of each movie for over two decades, but it sure seems like it! They offered a free movie for military veterans on Veterans Day again this year. There was only a handful of people in the theater on a recent Wednesday night. Nobody from the younger generations was on hand to do the MJR (clap-clap-clap), so I did it myself. Special rates for seniors, children, and students. Discounts also available for military vets. Gift Cards available in increments of 10 to 100 dollars at the box office. It's more fun at MJR! read more

Sad to see this theater in such bad shape. Went to see dungeons and dragons. When we stepped into our theater it was like stepping outside it was so cold in there. I'm used to it getting a little cold once movie starts but it felt like they didnt have the heat on. The recliner were tearing they looked in bad shape.. There were so few workers we paid for our tickets at the concession stand. A 3:30 PM matinee, 2 tickets, a large popcorn and drink and a medium popcorn and drink. $45.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FORTY FIVE DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not believe it, I almost fainted. I was so shocked I just handed her my debit card, looking at her in disbelief. The popcorn was stale and the frozen coke was only half frozen with way too much syrup. Needless to say, we will never be going to MJR again. Went to see Sing tonight with the kiddos. Ordered tickets online, got there, got our tickets, pop, and popcorn and were ready to get comfy in our seats for the movie, but the projector had other plans. It decided to stop working. Things happen. Not anyone's fault. The manager went and got passes to come back another day. 2 passes for each person! Then he also went and refunded everyone's money for their concession purchases! Took the kids to see Toy Story 4 on Thursday. We picked our seats ahead of time using the app. Love this feature and that it is free to do so when you purchase the tickets. Nice confession area and friendly employees. Theater was nice and loved being able to put our feet up in the cushy recliners. We love going here to watch movies. My grandkids and i love going here! It's our go to movie place! Overall friendly staff. The prices are kind of high tho. back in my day we paid 50¢ for a bucket of popcorn! Plus 2 of our seat were broken, they wouldn't recline and it upset my grandkids dearly! It was 10.50$ for a medium drink and a bag of Swedish fish. To be fair the cups are pretty big! Great movie quality and tickets are only about 7$ depending on when you go. Lots of movie times and theaters usually aren't very crowded. Overall highly recommend!! read more

Our movie went down tonight for a solid 5 minutes tonight and then replayed 10 minutes of the film. You'd think they'd at least give us a voucher for a free movie or drink! Also had bar issues. They were out of over 5 different items & we had a lengthy wait. They were out of Blue Moon that the hubby ordered and the manager refilled it, but w a keg clearly marked Bud Light. I found this theatre to be disappointing after getting to know other (newer) MJR locations in Troy, Clinton and Sterling Heights. While MJR is always endearing to the community with its great theme song and affordable pricing, this theatre suffers from a tight layout and currently a literally in-between status as it converts to those roomier seating arrangements that are taking over the industry. The location is relatively convenient in that it's close to I-94 and various shopping attractions, but I'm not sure I'd come again. read more

Second time in a row the movie stopped playing mid play....been sitting here 1 hr into Deadpool for 15 minutes and counting. They don't seem to be doing much and aren't providing any compensation. Would not recommend this theater. Go to Emagine. read more

Enjoying a movie with my wife, place seems clean till you sit down and the chairs are dirty. Tissues and straw wrappers stuff down the side of the seat. Floor and carpet are clean, restrooms clean both men's amd women's i used both (just kidding). Just trying to be politically correct in this messed up world we live in. Popcorn was nice and stale, but the butter and white chedder seasoning brought it back to life. They had unsweetened tea which i always mix with a splash of lemonade and that hits the spot. Seats are comfortable, enough so that i almost fell asleep. The crowd was older so it was nice and behaved, had to be past a lot of their bed times. Their was one older lady that was annoying as can be. She would scream out everytime something was expectedly going to happen, everyone knew what was about to happen and they definitely didn't need this old prune yelling it out. I didn't pay for a play by play commentary. The one good thing with it being an older crowd they didn't do that "it's more fun at MJR" clap. Other than that all went well and i would definitely comeback to this location (and pray that old bag wouldn't be there). Oh i almost forgot the movie was Overboard read more
